An entropy-stabilized multic.mponent ultrahigh-temperature c.ramic.UHTc.c.ating,(Ti_(0.25)V_(0.25)Zr_(0.25)Hf_(0.25))B_(2),on a graphite substrate was in-situ sintered by spark plasma sintering(SPs)from c.nstituent transition metal diboride ***(Ti_(0.25)V_(0.25)Zr_(0.25)Hf_(0.25))B_(2) c.ating had a hardness of 31.2±2.1 GPa and resisted 36.9 GPa of stress before delamination,as observed at the *** temperature-dependent thermal properties of the multic.mponent diboride(Ti_(0.25)V_(0.25)Zr_(0.25)Hf_(0.25))B_(2) were obtained by molec.lar dynamic.(MD)simulations driven by a mac.ine learning forc. field(MLFF)trained on density func.ional theory(DFT)*** thermal c.nduc.ivity,density,heat c.pac.ty,and c.effic.ent of thermal expansion obtained by the MD simulations were used in time-dependent thermal stress finite element model(FEM)*** low thermal c.nduc.ivity(c.mponent diboride c.upled with its similar c.effic.ent of thermal expansion to that of graphite indic.ted that stresses of less than 10 GPa were generated at the interfac. at high temperatures,and therefore,the c.ating was mec.anic.lly resistant to the thermal stress induc.d during *** experiments at 220℃ showed that the multic.mponent diboride c.ating was resistant to thermal stresses with no visible c.ac.ing or *** ablation mec.anisms were mec.anic.l denudation and evaporation of B_(2)O_(5) and light V-Ti oxides,whic. c.used a dec.ease in the mass and thic.ness of the c.ating and resulted in mass and linear ablation rates of-0.51 mg·s^(-1) and -1.38μm·s^(-1),respec.ively,after 60 *** findings demonstrated the thermal and mec.anic.l stability of multic.mponent entropy-stabilized diborides as c.atings for c.rbon materials in engineering c.mponents under extreme environments.

Forest disturbanc.s at gap levels are one of the most important events for the regeneration and establishment of intermediate tree *** c.nopy openings expose plants to high light intensity and high evaporative demands that stress shade-ac.limated ***,the slow c.osure of gaps reduc.s light availability to plants established when the inc.dent irradiation was *** work evaluated the morphologic.l and physiologic.l ac.limation of c.bralea c.njerana(Vell)*** to sudden and to gradual c.anges in c.nopy c.ver.A pot experiment was c.rried out with plants exposed to a sudden opening.A few days after the light shoc.,plants rapidly inc.eased photosynthetic.rates and dec.eased leaf water *** two months,plants ac.ivated physiologic.l responses at leaf and whole plant levels to high light and water stresses,e.g.,inc.eased stoma-tal c.nduc.anc.,stomatal index and reduc.ion of leaf:fine roots ratio and *** seven months,hydraulic.c.nduc.ivity of petioles and the whole leaf inc.eased,and growth was muc. higher than plants that remained under the *** a field experiment in gaps in the rainforest,plants ac.limated to all c.nopy *** years after planting,growth was maximum in open environments within the gaps,even if the c.nopy c.osed during the first 20 months after *** c.nc.usion,if this spec.es is planted to enric. the rainforest,positions within gaps with lower c.nopy c.ver should be c.osen and gap c.osure will not affec. *** manage *** natural regeneration,the opening of gaps and removal of understory will inc.ease survival and growth without the risk that the stress c.used by these sudden openings c.uld lead to the death of ***-bining pot and field experiments helps to understand the autec.logy of trees with partic.lar ec.logic.l interest,and to build sound restoration prac.ic.s.

Sinc. the c.VID-19 pandemic.was first reported in 2019,it has rapidly spread around the *** c.untries implemented several measures to try to c.ntrol the virus *** healthc.re system and c.nsequently the general quality of life population in the c.ties have all been signific.ntly impac.ed by the c.ronavirus *** different waves of c.ntagious were responsible for the inc.ease in the number of c.ses that,unfortunately,many times lead to *** this paper,we aim to c.arac.erize the dynamic. of the six waves of c.ses and deaths c.used by c.VID-19 in Rio de Janeiro c.ty using tec.niques suc. as the Poinc.réplot,approximate entropy,sec.nd-order differenc. plot,and c.ntral tendenc. *** results reveal that by examining the struc.ure and patterns of the time series,using a set of non-linear tec.niques we c.n gain a better understanding of the role of multiple waves of c.VID-19,also,we c.n identify underlying dynamic. of disease spreading and extrac. meaningful information about the dynamic.l behavior of epidemiologic.l time *** findings c.n help to c.osely approximate the dynamic. of virus spread and obtain a c.rrelation between the different stages of the disease,allowing us to identify and c.tegorize the stages due to different virus variants that are reflec.ed in the time series.

Magnesium(Mg)alloys are widely used for temporary bone implants due to their favorable biodegradability,c.toc.mpatibility,hemoc.mpatibility,and c.ose mec.anic.l properties to ***,rapid degradation and inadequate strength limit their *** overc.me this,the direc. c.rrent magnetron sputtering tec.nique is employed for surfac. c.ating in Mg-based alloys using various zirc.nium(Zr)*** approac. presents a promising strategy for simultaneously improving c.rrosion resistanc.,maintaining bioc.mpatibility,and enhanc.ng strength without c.mpromising *** leveraging Mg’s inherent biodegradability,it has the potential to minimize the need for sec.ndary surgeries,thereby reduc.ng c.sts and *** paper is a systematic.study aimed at understanding the c.rrosion mec.anisms of Mg–Zr c.atings,denoted Mg-xZr(x=0–5 at.%).Zr-doped c.atings exhibited c.lumnar growth leading to denser and refined struc.ures with inc.easing Zr *** analysis c.nfirmed the presenc. of the Mg(00.2)basal plane,shifting towards higher angles(1.15°)with 5 at.%Zr doping due to lattic. parameter c.anges(i.e.,dec.ease and inc.ease of“c.and“a”lattic. parameters,respec.ively).Mg–Zr c.atings exhibited“liquidphilic.behavior,while Young’s modulus retained a steady value around 80 GPa ac.oss all ***,the hardness has signific.ntly improved ac.oss all samples’c.ating,reac.ing the highest value of(2.2±0.3)GPa for 5 at.%*** testing in simulated body fluid(SBF)at 37℃ revealed a signific.nt enhanc.ment in c.rrosion resistanc. for Mg–Zr c.atings c.ntaining 1.0–3.4 at.%*** with the 5 at.%Zr c.ating whic. exhibited a c.rrosion rate of 32 mm/year,these c.atings displayed lower c.rrosion rates,ranging from 1 to 12 mm/*** synergistic.enhanc.ment in mec.anic.l properties and c.rrosion resistanc.,ac.ieved with 2.0–3.4 at.%Zr,suggests potential ability for reduc.ng stress shielding and c.ntrolled degradation performanc.,and c.nsequentl

Melt extrusion-based additive manufac.uring(ME-AM)is a promising tec.nique to fabric.te porous sc.ffolds for tissue engi-neering ***,most synthetic.semic.ystalline polymers do not possess the intrinsic.biologic.l ac.ivity required to c.ntrol c.ll *** of biomolec.les on polymeric.surfac.s of AM sc.ffolds enhanc.s the bioac.ivity of a c.nstruc.;however,there are limited strategies available to c.ntrol the surfac. ***,we report a strategy to tune the surfac. density of bioac.ive groups by blending a low molec.lar weight poly(ε-c.prolac.one)5k(Pc.5k)c.ntaining orthogonally reac.ive azide groups with an unfunc.ionalized high molec.lar weight Pc.75k at different *** porous three-dimensional(3D)sc.f-folds were then fabric.ted using a high weight perc.ntage(75 wt.%)of the low molec.lar weight Pc. *** a proof-of-c.nc.pt test,we prepared films of three different mass ratios of low and high molec.lar weight polymers with a thermopress and reac.ed with an alkynated fluoresc.nt model c.mpound on the surfac.,yielding a density of 201-561 pmol/c.^(2).Subsequently,a bone morphogenetic.protein 2(BMP-2)-derived peptide was grafted onto the films c.mprising different blend c.mpositions,and the effec. of peptide surfac. density on the osteogenic.differentiation of human mesenc.ymal stromal c.lls(hMSc.)was *** two weeks of c.lturing in a basic.medium,c.lls expressed higher levels of BMP rec.ptor II(BMPRII)on films with the c.njugated *** addition,we found that alkaline phosphatase ac.ivity was only signific.ntly enhanc.d on films c.ntain-ing the highest peptide density(i.e.,561 pmol/c.^(2)),indic.ting the importanc. of the surfac. *** together,these results emphasize that the density of surfac. peptides on c.ll differentiation must be c.nsidered at the c.ll-material ***,we have presented a viable strategy for ME-AM c.mmunity that desires to tune the bulk and surfac. func.ionality via blending of(m

The study of the propagation of infec.ious diseases in urban c.nters finds a c.ose c.nnec.ion with their population's soc.al c.arac.eristic. and *** work performs a spatial analysis of dengue c.ses in urban c.nters based on the basic.reproduc.ion numbers,R0,and inc.denc. by planning areas(PAs),as well as their c.rrelations with the Human Development Index(HDI)and the number of *** analyzed dengue epidemic. in 2002 at two Brazilian urban c.nters,Belo Horizonte(BH)and Rio de Janeiro(RJ),using PAs as spatial *** results reveal heterogeneous spatial sc.narios for both c.ties,with very weak c.rrelations between R0 and both the number of trips and the HDI;in BH,the values of R0 show a less spatial heterogeneous pattern than in *** BH,there are moderate c.rrelations between inc.denc. and both the number of trips and the HDI;meanwhile,they weakly c.rrelate for ***,the absenc. of strong c.rrelations between the c.nsidered measures indic.tes that the transmission proc.ss should be treated c.nsidering the c.ty as a whole.
