Multiple myeloma(MM)is a hematological malignancy characterized by the accumulation of immunoglobulin-secreting clonal plasma cells at the bone marrow(BM).The interaction between MM cells and the BM microenvironment,and specifically BM mesenchymal stem cells(BM-MSCs),has a key role in the pathophysiology of this *** data support the idea that BM-MSCs not only enhance the proliferation and survival of MM cells but are also involved in the resistance of MM cells to certain drugs,aiding the progression of this hematological *** relation of MM cells with the resident BM-MSCs is a two-way *** modulate the behavior of BM-MSCs altering their expression profile,proliferation rate,osteogenic potential,and expression of senescence *** turn,modified BM-MSCs can produce a set of cytokines that would modulate the BM microenvironment to favor disease *** interaction between MM cells and BM-MSCs can be mediated by the secretion of a variety of soluble factors and extracellular vesicles carrying microRNAs,long non-coding RNAs or other ***,the communication between these two types of cells could also involve a direct physical interaction through adhesion molecules or tunneling ***,understanding the way this communication works and developing strategies to interfere in the process,would preclude the expansion of the MM cells and might offer alternative treatments for this incurable disease.

Phage lytic proteins: a natural approach to agro-food safety

Sustainability is a leading trend in the context of food production. Additionally， consumers increasingly demand safer and less-processed products. Among the different technologies used to maintain the quality and extend the shelf-life of fresh and minimally-processed food， natural antimicrobial agents offer a promising strategy to replace conventional compounds. In this regard， phage lytic proteins or lysins， such as endolysins and virion-associated peptidoglycan hydrolases (VAPGHs)， have been proposed as a viable option for the avoidance and elimination of undesirable bacteria within the food production chain. Even when applied exogenously， these proteins can degrade the bacterial cell wall maintaining their lytic activity. This feature， alongside their modular structure， which can be exploited for bioengineering， provides significant biotechnological potential. However， despite the promising properties of lysins， the main obstacle for their commercialization is the limited legal information regulating their use. This challenge underscores the need to navigate complex regulatory pathways. The primary objective of this review is to address this crucial gap and summarize the many prospective applications of endolysins during the different stages of food production. By doing so， we aim to provide clarity and insight into the regulatory challenges that must be overcome for the successful utilization of lysins.

Background: The protective role of (poly)phenols against metabolic disorders has been extensively studied in adults but not in ***: To assess associations of dietary (poly)phenols and their subclasses with cardiometabolic health parameters in adolescents. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in 944 individuals aged 11 to 14 years enrolled in the SI! Program for Secondary Schools trial (NCT03504059). (Poly)phenol intake was assessed using semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaires and the Phenol-Explorer database. The measured cardiometabolic parameters were waist circumference (WC) age-sex z-score， blood pressure (BP) age-sex z-score， blood glucose (BG)， triglycerides (TG)， and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-c). Multilevel mixed-effect linear regression models were applied to examine the association between (poly)phenol quintiles and cardiometabolic health ***: Compared to the lowest quintile， adolescents in the highest quintile of total (poly)phenol intake had lower WC z-scores (β=-0.09， 95%CI=-0.09;-0.08， P-for trend=0.002)， mean arterial pressure z-scores (β =-0.11， 95%CI=-0.12;-0.09， P-for trend=0.206)， and HDL-c (β=-1.52， 95%CI=-2.90;-0.14， P-for trend=0.108)， after multivariable adjustment. The WC z-scores (β=-0.11， 95%CI=-0.19;-0.03， P-for trend=0.013) and HDL-c (β=-2.16， 95%CI=-3.78;-0.53， P-for trend=0.046) were lower in the highest quintile of flavonoid intake compared to the lowest quintile. Impact of Microstructural and Surface Modifications on the Ti-45Nb Alloy’s Response to Bio-Environment

The Ti-45Nb (mass%) alloy’s corrosive and biocompatible response in simulated physiological conditions was investigated before and after its additional high-pressure torsion (HPT) and laser irradiation processing. The grain size reduction from 2.76 µm to ~ 200 nm and the appearance of laser-induced morphologically altered and highly oxidized surface led to the significant improvement of alloy corrosion resistance and cell–implant interaction. Moreover, an additional increase of the laser pulse energy from 5 to 15 mJ during the alloy irradiation in the air led to an increase in the surface oxygen content from 13.64 to 23.89% accompanied by an increase of excellent cell viability from 127.18 to 134.42%. As a result of the controlled alloy microstructural and surface modifications, the formation of protective bi-modal mixed Ti- and Nb-oxide external scale was enabled. The presence of this surface oxide scale enhanced the alloy’s resistance to corrosion deterioration and simultaneously boosted cell viability and proliferation.

From Simulation to Reality: A Comprehensive Study on the Efficacy of a Rotating Monopolar and Bipolar Radiofrequency System through In-Silico Modeling and Pre-Clinical and Clinical Validation

Background: Skin aging is an unavoidable process aggravated by environmental agents. Among other energy devices, non-invasive radiofrequency (RF) technology is widely used for skin tightening and body contouring as it is simpler and more affordable than other technologies that also minimize pain and side-effects. However, most of the current RF devices do not provide automatic skin temperature control and it is difficult to achieve controlled, deep, and harmless thermal increase, so treatment performance and safety is dependent on the operator’s movements and expertise. Objective: To show the potential of numerical simulations for optimizing the design of monopolar and bipolar RF electrodes that are capable of providing homogeneous, deep and controlled heating. Materials and methods: In-silico models were developed and analyzed using Comsol Multiphysics software to simulate the RF effect produced in tissue by rotating monopolar and bipolar electrodes with different geometries from the Sculpt & Shape RF device (Sinclair, Spain), operating at frequencies of 0.5 and 1 MHz. Ex-vivo and in-vivo proof-of-concept tests were carried out to validate the simulations. Finally, treatments were performed on 16 subjects and a total of 78 body areas to assess the clinical results generated by the RF electrodes for skin tightening and body contouring. Results: In-silico studies emulated the superficial and deep dispersion of heat due to the release of RF energy into human skin tissue. The rotating electrodes (monopolar and bipolar) and the selected RF frequency (0.5 and 1 MHz) determined the homogeneity of the thermal distribution, the penetration depth (between 4.37 mm and 25.0 mm) and the heating dynamics (between 30 and 100 seconds to reach the target skin temperature), which were confirmed by ex-vivo and in-vivo tests. In addition, real treatments on facial and body areas using skin temperatures of between 43˚C and 44˚C showed consistent results with good clinical efficacy for
