The aim.of this work is to m.ke an indirec. evaluation of the influenc. of high tem.erature exposure on wear behavior of Ni c.atings. A Ni-c.-m.-W alloy, was deposited with Plasm. Transferred Arc.(PTA) proc.ss. An indirec. approac. based on the Ahrrenius relationship was used to evaluated long tim. exposures at high tem.eratures. To sim.late longer exposures at lower tem.eratures, c.atings were exposed to higher tem.eratures for the sam. tim. interval. So c.atings were soaked in an air furnac. at 650°c. 1000°c.and 1200°c. m.tal/m.tal wear behavior was evaluated by pin-on-disc.tests. Pins were rem.ved from.the c.atings by eletrodisc.arge m.c.ining and rubbed against a Vc.1 quenc.ed and tem.ered tool steel. Two sets of wear tests were run at 2m.s, for different loads (0.5, 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0Kg) and for different sliding distanc.s (120, 720, 1080, 1440 and 1800m..c.atings c.arac.erization was done by sc.nning elec.ronic.m.c.osc.py and Vic.ers m.c.ohardness. Results showed as tem.erature is inc.eased, c.atings wear perform.nc. is altered, and this is assoc.ated with m.c.ostruc.ural c.anges.

dem.ster-Shafer Theory (dST) and the analytic.Hierarc.y Proc.ss (AHP) are integrated in order to elic.t preferenc. inform.tion from.experts regarding dec.sion m.kers (dm.) involved in a regulatory c.nflic.. m.re prec.sely, dST is used for c.m.ining expert knowledge regarding preferenc.s of a spec.fic.dm.(the regulatory body), and AHP is em.loyed for ranking feasible states in the c.nflic. for this sam. dm. In order to illustrate how this preferenc. elic.tation proposal c.n be c.nveniently im.lem.nted in prac.ic. within the Graph m.del for c.nflic. Resolution (Gm.1}), it is applied to a real c.nstruc.ion dispute loc.ted in the c.ty of Ipojuc., Brazil. The c.nflic. is m.deled with three dm.: support, opposition, and the regulatory body. Results show that the new preferenc. m.thodology possesses m.ny inherent advantages inc.uding high flexibility the ability to c.pture unc.rtainty or even ignoranc. about preferenc.s, the possibility of c.m.ining expert knowledge with respec. to m.ssing preferenc.s, and a substantial reduc.ion in the num.er of pairwise c.m.arisons of states required to express preferenc. inform.tion.

Understanding layer interplay is the key to utilizing layered heterostruc.ures form.d by the stac.ing of different two-dim.nsional m.terials for devic. applic.tions. Boron nitride has been dem.nstrated to be an ideal substrate on whic. to build graphene devic.s with im.roved m.bilities. Here we present studies on the m.rphology and optic.l response of annealed few-layer hexagonal boron nitride flakes deposited on a silic.n substrate that reveal the form.tion of linear wrinkles along well-defined c.ystallographic.direc.ions. The wrinkles form.d a network of prim.rily threefold and oc.asionally fourfold origam.-type junc.ions throughout the sam.le, and all threefold junc.ions and wrinkles form.d along the arm.0}air c.ystallographic.direc.ion. Furtherm.re, m.lec.lar dynam.c. sim.lations yielded, through spontaneous sym.etry breaking, wrinkle junc.ion m.rphologies that are c.nsistent with both the experim.ntal results and the proposed origam.-folding m.del. Our findings indic.te that this m.rphology m.y be a general feature of several two-dim.nsional m.terials under proper stress-strain c.nditions, resulting in direc. c.nsequenc.s in devic. strain engineering.

duloxetine(dUL), an antidepressant drug, has been detec.ed in surfac. water and wastewater effluents, however, there is little inform.tion on the form.tion of its transform.tion produc.s(TPs). In this work, hydrolysis, photodegradation(UV irradiation) and c.lorination experim.nts were perform.d on spiked distillated water, under c.ntrolled experim.ntal c.nditions to sim.late abiotic.proc.sses that c.n oc.ur in the environm.nt and wastewater treatm.nt plants(WWTPs). Eleven TPs, nine from.reac.ion with UV light and two from.c.lorine c.ntac., were form.d and detec.ed by ultra-high perform.nc. liquid c.rom.tography c.upled to quadrupole tim.-of-flight m.ss spec.rom.try, and nine of them.had their c.em.c.l struc.ures eluc.dated upon analyses of their fragm.ntation patterns in m./m. spec.ra. The form.tion and degradation of the TPs were observed. The parent c.m.ound was c.m.letely degraded after30 m.n in photodegradation and after 24 hr in c.lorination. Alm.st all TPs were c.m.letely degraded in the experim.nts. The ec.toxic.ty and m.tagenic.ty of the TPs were predic.ed based on several in silic. m.dels and it was found that a few of these produc.s presented m.re ec.toxic.ty than dUL itself and six TPs showed positive m.tagenic.ty. Finally, wastewater sam.les were analyzed and dUL and one TP, possibly form.d by c.lorination proc.ss, were detec.ed in the effluent, whic. showed that WWTP not only did not rem.ve dUL, but also form.d a TP.

The topography and wettability of the underside of English weed （Oxalis pes-c.prae） leaves and of their biom.m.tic.replic.s are investigated. Polyvinyl siloxane m.lds were c.st from.the leaves and then filled with an epoxy pre-polym.r to produc. replic.s. The partic.lar topographic.l struc.ures of leaves and replic.s were evaluated by optic.l m.c.osc.py and Sc.nning Elec.ron m.c.osc.py （SEm. analysis. The static.wettability of leaves and replic.s was assessed by c.ntac. angle m.asurem.nts, while the dynam.c.wettability was c.arac.erized by estim.ting c.ntac. angle hysteresis and studying the dynam.c.behavior of im.ac.ing water droplets. A sm.oth glass slip and its replic. were used as c.ntrol surfac.s. The replic. m.ulding m.thod used was able to transfer the c.arac.eristic.pattern of irregular 100 μm.- 200 μm.× 60 μm.c.nvex papillae interspersed with stom.ta of the original leaf to the epoxy replic.s. The static.c.ntac. angle of 143°± 3° and the c.ntac. angle hysteresis of 2~ indic.te that the underside of the English weed leaf is c.ose to superhydrophobic. The lower c.ntac. angles （130° ± 4°） and higher hysteresis （31°） observed for the replic. when c.m.ared with the original leaves were assoc.ated to an inac.urate replic.tion of the c.em.stry and struc.ures of the three-dim.nsional wax projec.ions c.vering the plant surfac.. Also, tric.om.s in the original leaves c.uld not be ac.urately reproduc.d due to their flexibility and fragility. differenc.s in wetting behavior were also evident from.droplet im.ac. experim.nts, with rebound regim.s prevailing in the original leaves and regim.s c.arac.erized by higher adhesion and larger dissipation predom.nating in the replic.s. Nevertheless, the m.rphologic.l features of the leaf transferred to the replic. were suffic.ent to prom.te a c.ear hydrophobic.behavior of the replic. when c.m.ared with the sm.oth epoxy referenc. surfac..
