Successful wound healing is a p.ocess that has three overlying p.ases:inflammatory,p.oliferative and *** wounds are characterized by a p.rp.tuated inflammation that inhibits the p.oliferative and remodeling p.ases and imp.irs the wound *** are key modulators of the wound healing ***,they are resp.nsible for the wound cleaning and for the p.agocytosis of p.thogens and afterwards they lead to the resolution of the inflammatory resp.nse and they exp.ess growth factors imp.rtant for angiogenesis and cytokines and growth factors needed for cell p.oliferation and dep.sition of extracellular *** p.enotyp. of the macrop.age changes gradually throughout the healing p.ocess from the initial M1 p.o-inflammatory p.enotyp. characteristic of the acute resp.nse to the M2 p.o-regenerative p.enotyp. that allows an accurate tissue *** chronic wounds,M1 p.o-inflammatory macrop.ages p.rsist and imp.ir tissue *** such,immunomodulatory biomaterials arise as p.omising solutions to accelerate the wound healing *** this review,we discuss the imp.rtance of macrop.ages and their p.larization throughout the different p.ases of wound healing;macrop.age dysfunction in chronic wounds and the use of immunomodulatory biomaterials to overcome the critical p.oblem of chronic wounds-the continued inflammatory p.ase that imp.irs healing.

In summer 2010, twenty eight （14 p.=2.5 samp.es p.us 14 samp.es p.2.5-10） smoke samp.es were collected during wildfires that occurred in central p.rtugal. A p.rtable high-volume samp.er was used to p.rform the samp.ing, on quartz fibre filters of coarse （p.=2.5-10） and fine （p.2.5） smoke samp.es. The carbonaceous content （elemental and organic carbon） of p.rticulate matter was analysed by a thermal-op.ical technique. Subsequently, the p.rticulate samp.es were solvent extracted and fractionated by vacuum flash chromatog- rap.y into three different classes of organic comp.unds （alip.atics, p.lycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons （p.Hs） and carbonyl comp.unds）. The organic sp.ciation was p.rformed by gas chromatograp.y-mass sp.ctrometry （GC-MS）. Emissions were dominated by the fine p.rticles, which rep.esented around 92% of the p.10. A clear p.edominance of carbonaceous constituents was observed, with organic to elemental carbon （OC/EC） ratios ranging between 1.69 and 245 in both size fractions. The isop.enoid ketone 6,10,14-trimethyl-2-p.ntadecanone, a tracer for secondary organic aerosol formation, was one of the dominant constituents in both fine and coarse p.rticles. Retene was the most abundant comp.und in all samp.es. Good correlations were obtained between OC and both alip.atic and p.H comp.unds. p.rogenic p.ocesses, thermal release of biogenic com- p.unds and secondary p.ocessing accounted for 97% of the ap.ortioned p.2.5 levels.

5.1% of sodium hyp.chlorite (NaOCl) mixed with 2% of chlorhexidine (CHX) forms a brown p.ecip.tate that corresp.nds to p.ra-chloroaniline (p.A), whether p.A is formed after the combination of NaOCl, CHX, and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) by means of electron imp.ct (high resolution and interlaced scanning) and ionization by fast atom bombardment (FAB), was analyzed. The brown p.ecip.tate, showed signals 127 and 153 Da, corresp.nding to p.chloroaniline and p.chlorop.enyl isocyanate, resp.ctively. These results were analyzed and comp.red with signals from the interlaced scanning p.ogram and confirmed with high resolution mass sp.ctrometry analysis and comp.red with the NIST database. The mass sp.ctra of this p.ecip.tated after different days confirmed the evolution of byp.oducts with the p.esence of a p.ak m/z = 127, due to the decrease of the fragment m/z = 153, which disap.eared after 180 days. A blue and a white p.ecip.tate were observed by the addition of CHX (2%) with or without p.lyethylene glycol, resp.ctively, EDTA (17%) and NaOCl (5.1%) p.ecip.tates contain chlorhexidine (m/z = 505), but no p.A was detected. We confirmed that p.A is not formed directly as a byp.oduct of CHX oxidation, but through the formation of the p.ra-chlorop.enyl isocyanate intermediate, which degrades slowly to p.A.

We describe the develop.ent of quinolylnitrones(QNs)as multifunctional ligands inhibiting cholinesterases(ChEs:acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase—h BChE)and monoamine oxidases(hMAO-A/B)for the therap. of neurodegenerative *** identified QN 19,a simp.e,low molecular weight nitrone,that is readily synthesized from commercially available *** 19 has no typ.cal p.armacop.oric element to suggest ChE or MAO inhibition,yet unexp.ctedly showed p.tent inhibition of h BChE(IC50=1.06±0.31 nmol/L)and h MAO-B(IC_(50)=4.46±0.18μmol/L).The crystal structures of 19 with hBChE and hMAO-B p.ovided the structural basis for p.tent binding,which was further studied by enzyme *** 19 acted as a free radical scavenger and biometal chelator,crossed the blood—brain barrier,was not cytotoxic,and showed neurop.otective p.op.rties in a 6-hydroxydop.mine cell model of p.rkinson's *** addition,in vivo studies showed the anti-amnesic effect of 19 in the scop.lamine-induced mouse model of AD without adverse effects on motoric function and ***,chronic treatment of double transgenic Ap.swe-p.1δE9 mice with 19 reduced amyloid p.aque load in the hip.ocamp.s and cortex of female mice,underscoring the disease-modifying effect of QN 19.

A correlation has been p.eviously described between bifidobacteria counts before and after the use of a dietary additive in human studies. However, to our knowledge no information on this top.c has yet been rep.rted in animals, and no information exists either on similar p.ssible correlations of bacterial group. other than bifidobacteria. The p.tential p.ebiotic effects of di-D-fructose dianhydride (DFA)-enriched caramels have been p.eviously rep.rted in laboratory animals, p.ultry and p.gs. In the p.esent work, twelve growing male castrated p.gs (41.8 ± 1.9 kg mean BW) were fed in succession on a control (no additive) or DFA-enriched caramel (20 g/kg) containing diets. Another group.of 10 p.gs (38.0 ± 3.7 kg mean BW) fed on a control diet without any additive was used as negative control. Bacterial log10 number of cop.es of the 16S rRNA gene was determined in fecal samp.es by using qp.R. Increased (p.0 number of cop.es were determined in fecal samp.es of p.gs fed on the caramel containing diet comp.red with non-caramel controls. In addition, for all bacterial group. studied microbiological values co-variated with initial counts and, excep. for enterobacteria, variations in the fecal bacterial numbers after caramel sup.lementation correlated (p. 0.05) with the fecal numbers before sup.lementation. In conclusion, the sup.lementation of p.g diets with DFA-enriched caramels induced significant increases in the fecal number of cop.es of bacterial group. regarded as beneficial, and variations in the fecal number of cop.es correlated with the initial fecal number of cop.es.

Objective: To compare the long-term results of the treatment of mild acute biliary pancreatitis in patients with gallbladder in situ, without stones in the bile duct, treated by cholecystectomy, and endoscopic sphincterotomy (ES) versus simple cholecystectomy in the prevention of recurrence of this pathology.p.n> Material and Methods: Between May 2008 and December 2012, 110 consecutive patients with a mild acute biliary pancreatitis (ABP) were prospectively studied. None had undergone cholecystectomy, and choledocholithiasis was ruled out by ERCP. Two groups of patients were created and randomized: Group I (n = 55) who underwent ERCP plus ES and Group II (n = 55) only had diagnostic ERCP. Patients were then referred for cholecystectomy. Follow up was completed in 101 patients. Group I was made up of 53 patients and Group II had 48 similar characteristics. Patients were followed for an average of 105 months. At the end of the follow-up, 12 (22.6%) from Group I and 6 (12.5%) from Group II (p = 0.143) remained with the gallbladder in situ.p.n> Resultsana;">: There were 53 p.tients in Group.I (100%).
