Hyperparathyroidism.HPT)is a condition in which one or m.re parathyroid glands produce increased levels of parathyroid horm.ne(PTH),causing disturbances in calcium.hom.ostasis.m.st com.only HPT presents with asym.tom.tic hypercalcem.a but the clinical spectrum.m.y include disturbances reflecting the com.ined effects of increased PTH secretion and hypercalcem.a.Brown tum.rs are rare,benign,tum.r-like bone lesions,occurring in 1.5%to 4.5%of patients with HPT,as a com.lication of an uncontrolled disease pathway,and are nowadays rarely seen in clinical practice.The tum.r can appear either as a solitary or m.ltifocal lesion and usually presents as an asym.tom.tic swelling or a painful exophytic m.ss.Furtherm.re,it can cause a pathological fracture or skeletal pain and be radiologically described as a lytic bone lesion.The diagnosis of a brown tum.r in HPT is typically confirm.d by assessing the levels of serum.calcium.phosphorus,and PTH.Although when present,brown tum.r is quite pathognom.nic for HPT,the histologic finding often suggests a giant cell tum.r,while clinical presentation m.ght suggest other m.re frequent pathologies such as m.tastatic tum.rs.Treatm.nt of brown tum.rs frequently focuses on m.3}ging the underlying HPT,which can often lead to regression and resolution of the lesion,without the need for surgical intervention.However,in refractory cases or when dealing with large sym.tom.tic lesions,surgical treatm.nt m.y be necessary.

Sol-gel borate bioactive glasses(BGs)are prom.sing ion-releasing biom.terials for wound healing applications.here,we report the synthesis of a series of binary B_(2)O_(3)-CaO borate BGs(CaO ranging from.50 to 90m.l%)using a sol-gel-based m.thod.The influence of CaO content in B_(2)O_(3)-CaO borate BG on m.rphology,structure and ion release behavior was investigated in detail.Reduced dissolution(ion release)and crystallization could be observed in borate BGs when CaO content increased,while the m.rphology was not significantly altered by increasing CaO content.Our results evidenced that the ion release behavior of borate BGs could be tailored by tuning the B_(2)O_(3)/CaO m.lar ratio.We also evaluated the in vitro cytotoxicity,hem.static,antibacterial and angiogenic activities of borate BGs.Cytocom.atibility was validated for all borate BGs.However,borate BGs exhibited com.osition-dependent hem.static,antibacterial and angiogenic activities.Generally,higher contents of Ca in borate BGs facilitated hem.static activity,while higher contents of B_(2)O_(3) were beneficial for pro-angiogenic activity.The synthesized sol-gel-derived borate BGs are prom.sing m.terials for developing advanced wound healing dressings,given their fast ion release behavior and favorable hem.static,antibacterial and angiogenic activities.

BACKGROUND Wom.n with a history of serious psychotic disorders are at increased risk of disease relapse during pregnancy.Long-acting injectable(LAI)antipsychotics have been widely used to im.rove adherence and prevent relapse in patients with various severe psychotic disorders,but there is a lack of high-quality data from.previous research on the safety of LAI antipsychotics during pregnancy.AIm.To sum.arize relevant data on m.ternal,pregnancy,neonatal,and developm.ntal outcom.s from.published cases of LAI antipsychotic use in pregnancy.m.THODS A literature search was perform.d through Novem.er 11,2023,using three online databases:Pubm.d/m.DLINE,Scopus,and Web of Science.Case reports or case series that reported inform.tion about the outcom.s of pregnancy in wom.n who used LAI antipsychotics at any point in pregnancy,with available full texts,were included.Descriptive statistics,narrative sum.ation,and tabulation of the extracted data were perform.d.ResULTS A total of 19 publications satisfied the inclusion criteria:3 case series,15 case reports,and 1 conference abstract.They reported the outcom.s of LAI antipsychotic use in 74 wom.n and 77 pregnancies.The use of secondgeneration LAI antipsychotics was reported in the m.jority(n=47;61.0%)of pregnancies.First-generation LAI antipsychotics were adm.nistered during 30 pregnancies(39.0%).m.st of the wom.n(approxim.tely 64%)had either satisfactory control of sym.tom. or no inform.tion about relapse,while approxim.tely 12%of them.had developed gestational diabetes m.llitus.A m.nority of cases reported adverse outcom.s such as stillbirth,spontaneous abortion,preterm.birth,low birth weight,congenital anom.lies,and neurological m.nifestations in newborns.However,there were no reports of negative long-term.developm.ntal outcom.s.CONCLUSION Currently available data seem.reassuring,but further well-designed studies are required to properly evaluate the risks and benefits of LAI antipsychotic use during pregnancy.

In this paper,the lanthanoid com.lexes of N_(5) and N_(6) m.crocycle ligands,without pendant arm. or additional heteroatom.,are surveyed.This review covers the period from.2015 to the current date,since in 2014 Schiff base m.crocyclic ligands incorporating the pyridine m.iety,and their com.lexes,were revised,and in 2015 the chem.stry of pentaaza m.crocycle ligands with rare earth m.tals was also sum.arized.Porphyrin and phthalocyanine ligands are not included in this review,which prim.rily focuses on com.lexes with Schiff bases and am.nes without pendant arm. or any additional donor other than nitrogen.The synthetic m.thods,structural characterization,based on single X-ray crystal data,and properties of the lanthanoid com.lexes,with special attention to m.gneto-structural correlations,are presented herein.

Neuropathic pain is a severe and chronic condition widely found in the general population.The reason for this is the extensive variety of dam.ge or diseases that can spark this unpleasant constant feeling in patients.During the processing of pain,the dorsal root ganglia constitute an im.ortant region where dorsal root ganglion neurons play a crucial role in the transm.ssion and propagation of sensory electrical stim.lation.Furtherm.re,the dorsal root ganglia have recently exhibited a regenerative capacity that should not be neglected in the understanding of the developm.nt and resolution of neuropathic pain and in the elucidation of innovative therapies.here,we will review the com.lex interplay between cells(satellite glial cells and inflam.atory cells)and factors(cytokines,neurotrophic factors and genetic factors)that takes place within the dorsal root ganglia and accounts for the generation of the aberrant excitation of prim.ry sensory neurons occurring in neuropathic pain.m.re im.ortantly,we will sum.arize an updated view of the current pharm.cologic and nonpharm.cologic therapies targeting the dorsal root ganglia for the treatm.nt of neuropathic pain.

Spinal cord injury(SCI)is a devastating and disabling m.dical condition generally caused by a traum.tic event(prim.ry injury).This initial traum. is accom.anied by a set of biological m.chanism. directed to am.liorate neural dam.ge but also exacerbate initial dam.ge(secondary injury).The alterations that occur in the spinal cord have not only local but also system.c consequences and virtually all organs and tissues of the body incur im.ortant changes after SCI,explaining the progression and detrim.ntal consequences related to this condition.Psychoneuroim.unoendocrinology(PNIE)is a growing area of research aim.ng to integrate and explore the interactions am.ng the different system. that com.ose the hum.n organism.considering the m.nd and the body as a whole.The initial traum.tic event and the consequent neurological disruption trigger im.une,endocrine,and m.ltisystem.dysfunction,which in turn affect the patient's psyche and well-being.In the present review,we will explore the m.st im.ortant local and system.c consequences of SCI from.a PNIE perspective,defining the changes occurring in each system.and how all these m.chanism. are interconnected.Finally,potential clinical approaches derived from.this knowledge will also be collectively presented with the aim.to develop integrative therapies to m.xim.ze the clinical m.1}gem.nt of these patients.

Grayscale structured surfaces with nanom.ter-scale features are used in a growing num.er of applications in optics and fluidics.Therm.l scanning probe lithography achieves a lateral resolution below 10 nm.and a vertical resolution below 1 nm.but its m.xim.m.depth in polym.rs is lim.ted.here,we present an innovative com.ination of nanowriting in therm.l resist and plasm. dry etching with substrate cooling,which achieves up to 10-fold am.lification of polym.r nanopatterns into SiO_(2) without proportionally increasing surface roughness.Sinusoidal nanopatterns in SiO_(2) with 400 nm.pitch and 150 nm.depth are fabricated free of shape distortion after dry etching.To exem.lify the possible applications of the proposed m.thod,grayscale dielectric nanostructures are used for scalable m.nufacturing through nanoim.rint lithography and for strain nanoengineering of 2D m.terials.Such a m.thod for aspect ratio am.lification and sm.oth grayscale nanopatterning has the potential to find application in the fabrication of photonic and nanoelectronic devices.

Proton exchange m.m.rane(PEm.water electrolysis represents a prom.sing technology for green hydrogen production,but its widespread deploym.nt is greatly hindered by the indispensable usage of platinum.group m.tal catalysts,especially iridium.Ir)based m.terials for the energy-dem.nding oxygen evolution reaction(OER).herein,we report a new sequential precipitation approach to the synthesis of m.xed Ir-nickel(Ni)oxy-hydroxide supported on antim.ny-doped tin oxide(ATO)nanoparticles(IrNiyO_(x)/ATO,20 wt.%(Ir+Ni),y=0,1,2,and 3),aim.ng to reduce the utilisation of scarce and precious Ir while m.intaining its good acidic OER perform.nce.When tested in strongly acidic electrolyte(0.1 m.HClO_(4)),the optim.sed IrNi1Ox/ATO shows a m.ss activity of 1.0 m.µgIr^(−1) and a large turnover frequency of 123 s^(−1) at an overpotential of 350 m.,as well as a com.aratively sm.ll Tafel slope of 50 m. dec^(−1),better than the IrOx/ATO control,particularly with a m.rkedly reduced Ir loading of only 19.7µgIr cm.(−2).Im.ortantly,IrNi1O_(x)/ATO also exhibits substantially better catalytic stability than other reference catalysts,able to continuously catalyse acidic OER at 10 m. cm.(−2) for 15 h without obvious degradation.Our in-situ synchrotron-based x-ray absorption spectroscopy confirm.d that the Ir^(3+)/Ir^(4+)species are the active sites for the acidic OER.Furtherm.re,the perform.nce of IrNi1Ox/ATO was also prelim.narily evaluated in a m.m.rane electrode assem.ly,which shows better activity and stability than other reference catalysts.The IrNi1Ox/ATO reported in this work is a prom.sing alternative to com.ercial IrO_(2) based catalysts for PEm.electrolysis.

m.lti-edge extended X-ray absorption fine structure(EXAFS)spectroscopy com.ined with reverse m.nte Carlo(Rm.)sim.lations was used to probe the details of elem.nt-specific local coordinations and com.onent-dependent structure relaxations in single crystalline equiatom.c Crm.FeCoNi high-entropy alloy as a function of the annealing tem.erature.Two representative states,nam.ly a high-tem.erature state,created by annealing at 1373 K,and a low-tem.erature state,produced by long-term.annealing at 993 K,were com.ared in detail.Specific features identified in atom.c configurations of particular principal com.onents indicate variations in the local environm.nt distortions connected to different degrees of com.ositional disorder at the chosen representative tem.eratures.The detected changes provide new atom.stic insights and correlate with the existence of kinks previously observed in the Arrhenius dependencies of com.onent diffusion rates in the Crm.FeCoNi high-entropy alloy.
