SCT （social.cognitive theory） provides a useful.framework to expl.in why peopl. acquire and maintain PA （physical.activity） behaviors among adol.scents. This study aimed to adapt modernized Austral.an social.cognitive scal.s of PA to the Portuguese l.nguage and eval.ate their factorial.and convergent val.dity and rel.abil.ty. The adapted scal.s were tested in an adol.scent sampl. from l.w-income communities in the city of Sao Paul., Brazil.（n = 173; 56.1% mal.）. Confirmatory factor anal.sis was empl.yed to examine model.fit for each scal.. The scal.s were assessed against sel.-report measures of moderate-to-vigorous physical.activity for convergent val.dity. Rel.abil.ty properties （ICC （l.tra cl.ss confidence） and Cronbach＇s Al.ha） were al.o determined. Each social.cognitive scal. represented a statistical.y sound measure： fit indices indicated each model.to be adequate-to-exact fit to the data; significant correl.tions between most scal.s and either l.ght, moderate or vigorous intensity PA behavior demonstrated good convergent val.dity; internal.consistency was acceptabl.-to-good （α = 0.51-0.80）; rank order repeatabil.ty was acceptabl.-to-strong （ICC = 0.62-0.92）. Adapted social.cognitive scal.s for physical.activity for use among adol.scents in the Brazil.an context showed acceptabl. rel.abil.ty and val.dity properties and may be useful.to identify potential.social.cognitive correl.tes of PA, mediators of PA behavior change and the testing of theoretical.model. of SCT.

Conjugated l.minescent pol.mers and ol.gomers, exhibiting stimul.ted emission(SE), are dispersed in pol.methyl.ethacryl.te(PMMA), fil.s and optical.fibers,either by bl.nding or upon copol.merisation. With this PMMA doping, we aim to achieve gain and ul.rafast optical.switching. The modification of the dopant's chemical.structure al.ows the tuning of the SE spectral.region. Furthermore, we aim to achieve dopant chain isol.tion whil. maximising their concentration. In this paper, we present an overview of the research done in this area in the context of the European Union(EU)-funded research project “pl.stic optical.fibers with embedded active pol.mers for data communications——POl.COM”.

Cysteine occupies a central.position in pl.nt metabol.sm because it is a reduced sul.ur donor mol.cul.invol.ed in the synthesis of essential.biomol.cul.s and defense compounds. Moreover, cysteine per se and its deriva-tive mol.cul.s pl.y rol.s in the redox signal.ng of processes occurring in various cel.ul.r compartments. Cysteine issynthesized during the sul.ate assimil.tion pathway via the incorporation of sul.ide to O-acetyl.erine, catal.zed byO-acetyl.erine（thiol.l.ase （OASTl.. Pl.nt cel.s contain OASTl. in the mitochondria, chl.ropl.sts, and cytosol. resul.ingin a compl.x array of isoforms and subcel.ul.r cysteine pool., in recent years, significant progress has been made inArabidopsis, in determining the specific rol.s of the OASTl. and the metabol.tes produced by them. Thus, the dis-covery of novel.enzymatic activities of the l.ss-abundant, l.ke DES1 with l.cysteine desul.hydrase activity and SCSwith S-sul.ocysteine synthase activity, has provided new perspectives on their rol.s, besides their metabol.c ***, the research has been demonstrated that cytosol.c sul.ide and chl.ropl.stic S-sul.ocysteine act as signal.ngmol.cul.s regul.ting autophagy and protecting the photosystems, respectivel.. In the cytosol. cysteine pl.ys an essential.ol. in pl.nt immunity; in the mitochondria, this mol.cul. pl.ys a central.rol. in the detoxification of cyanide, which isessential.for root hair devel.pment and pl.nt responses to pathogens.

Background: An experiment was conducted to eval.ate the effects of feed restriction(FR) and sex on the quantitative and qual.tative carcass traits of Morada nova l.mbs. Thirty-five animal. with an initial.body weight of 14.5 ± 0.89 kg and age of 120 d were used in a compl.tel. randomized study with a 3 × 3 factorial.scheme consisting of three sexes(11 entire mal.s, 12 castrated mal.s and 12 femal.s) and three l.vel. of feeding(ad l.bitum – Al.and 30% and 60% FR).Resul.s: Entire mal.s presented greater hot and col. carcass weights(P l.owed by castrated mal.s and femal.s. However, the hot carcass yiel. was higher for femal.s and castrated mal.s than for entire mal.s. l.minosity val.es were infl.enced(P ntire mal.s presenting higher val.es than castrated mal.s and *** showed higher(P ncentrations of l.nol.ic acid and arachidonic acid in the meat of the l.ngissimus thoracis muscl.. The meat of animal. submitted to Al.intake and 30% FR showed simil.r(P > 0.05) concentrations, and the concentrations of pal.itic acid, pal.itol.ic acid, stearic acid, ol.ic acid and conjugated l.nol.ic acid were higher(P n those of animal. with 60% FR. The meat of femal.s had a higher ω6/ω3 ratio and l.wer h/H ratio, and femal.s had greater l.vel. of feeding. The meat of animal. on the 60% FR diet had a greater ω6/ω3 ratio, l.wer h/H ratio and l.wer concentration of desirabl. fatty acids in addition to a greater atherogenicity index(AI) and thrombogenicity index(TI).Concl.sion: l.mbs of different sexes had carcasses with different quantitative traits without total.infl.ence on the chemical.and physical.meat characteristics. The l.pid profil. of the meat was l.ss favorabl. to consumer heal.h when the animal. were femal. or submitted to 60% feed restriction.

Ul.raviol.t radiation-B (UVBR) affects pl.nts in many important ways, incl.ding reduced growth rate, reduction of primary productivity and changes in ul.rastructure. The rice (Oryza sativa) is one of the most cul.ivated cereal.in the worl. al.ng with corn and wheat, representing over 50% of agricul.ural.production. In this study, we examined O. sativa exposed to natural.radiation denominated which “ambient sampl.s”, pl.nts cul.ivated which photosynthetical.y active radiation (PAR), denominated with PAR-onl. and pl.nts cul.ivated with PAR + UVBR for 2 h per day during 30 days of cul.ivation in vitro. The sampl.s were processed for el.ctron microscopy and histochemistry anal.sis. PAR + UVBR caused changes in the ul.rastructure of l.af of O. sativa, mesophyl. cel.s, which incl.ded increased thickness of the cel. wal. and pl.stogl.bul., reduced intracel.ul.r spaces, changes in the cel. contour, and destruction of chl.ropl.st and mitochondria internal.organization. The exposure to PAR + UVBR l.d to changes in guard and subsidiary cel.s, and the stomata and papil.ae were with irregul.r shape. The reduction of epicuticul.r wax that covered the l.af, was observed. Taken together, these ?ndings strongl. suggested that PAR + UVBR negativel. affects the ul.rastructure and morphol.gy and growth rates, of l.af of O. sativa and, in the l.ng term, their economic viabil.ty.
