Nutritional status expresses the physiological and nutritional needs to maintain the composition and adequate functioning of the organism. NRS 2002 and MNA protocols were applied to short-term institutionalized patients in Rio Verde (Brazil). Older adults and people with special needs of all ages, both sexes, regardless of possible pathology they may have, except if it causes contagion, were included, patients duly authorized by the person responsible for the institution and who were able to undergo evaluation. Thirty-eight patients from the institution were evaluated, of which ten were excluded from the research according to pre-established criteria. More than 50% of participants were male, with an overall average age of 63.43 years. The characteristics related to nutritional status by NRS 2002 and MNA showed that the risk of malnutrition and its absence are associated with a wide age range. The MNA presents a more nuanced nutritional risk classification, showing that even 61% of the 96% of participants who would be out of nutrition risk, according to the NRS 2002, are “at risk of malnutrition”. Applying the MNA can demonstrate more conservative results than the NRS 2002.

The study of the propagation of infectious diseases in urban centers finds a close connection with their population's social characteristics and *** work performs a spatial analysis of dengue cases in urban centers based on the basic reproduction numbers,R0,and incidence by planning areas(PAs),as well as their correlations with the Human Development Index(HDI)and the number of *** analyzed dengue epidemics in 2002 at two Brazilian urban centers,Belo Horizonte(BH)and Rio de Janeiro(RJ),using PAs as spatial *** results reveal heterogeneous spatial scenarios for both cities,with very weak correlations between R0 and both the number of trips and the HDI;in BH,the values of R0 show a less spatial heterogeneous pattern than in *** BH,there are moderate correlations between incidence and both the number of trips and the HDI;meanwhile,they weakly correlate for ***,the absence of strong correlations between the considered measures indicates that the transmission process should be treated considering the city as a whole.

Chronic pain, a multidimensional experience affecting individuals’ sensory, cognitive, and emotional aspects, significantly impacts their quality of life. Post-laminectomy syndrome, a condition characterized by persistent back pain following spinal surgery, often leads to disability and increased healthcare utilization. Methods: This randomized, controlled, blind clinical trial aimed to investigate the efficacy of Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) in managing pain from post-laminectomy syndrome in patients. Twenty-four participants were assigned to three groups: sham stimulation, active stimulation over primary motor cortex (M1), or stimulation over dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC). Stimulation was administered for five consecutive days, 20 minutes per session, using a current of 1.5 mA through 25 cm2 electrodes. Pain intensity was assessed using Visual analog Scale (VAS) before, during, and after intervention. Results: An ANOVA model demonstrates significant reduction in pain intensity compared to baseline in VAS, (F(7, 285) = 12.292;p 0.001;Power = 1.000;η2p = 0.534), in tDCS applied to M1, after five days of intervention. After stimulation, a significant improvement was observed in WHOQoL-Bref Quality of life item 1 (p = 0.04), considering statistical significant difference p 0.05. Correlation between the variables: quality of life, depression, anxiety and pain also demonstrates reduction in depression and anxiety according to Beck’s Depression and Anxiety Inventories (BDI and BAI), p 0.05. This effect was not observed in DLPFC stimulation group. Patients who believed they received active stimulation, in sham group, demonstrated potential for effective blinding. Conclusion: The tDCS applied to primary motor cortex effectively improved pain management and psychiatry symptoms in post-laminectomy syndrome patients. This work aims at making one brief contextualization on the state of the art of the geoprocessing in urban planning to present the new paradigms and challenges of the geo technologies related to the management of the cities. The visualization of planning process allowing the comprehension of the possibilities contained in public landscape planning represents the main challenge faced by this research. Another important goal is to investigate how to overcome a paradigm related to a coded urban planning system communication that hinders community understanding and participation. This state of the art of the space production justifies the current studies in the geoprocessing for the development of tools, techniques and methodologies that meet the necessities to create interpretative pictures of the urban landscapes that facilitate the dialogue among the technician, the administrators and the community. The methodology was based on the cloud of points using Lidar techniques, 3D modeling, tools of visualization and parametric modeling of urban parameters. In this direction, this work will point out the new trends of representation of the data and the decoding of the cartographic language from the geo visualizers within the values of interoperability, involvement of the actors, feedback and proposals from geo design.

Objective:To evaluate antimicrobial and antioxidant properties of saline extract from Tithonia diversifolia leaves by phytochemical bioprospecting,and investigate its safety against animal ***:The saline extract was prepared,with Nacl(0.15 M),by constant stirring of the dried and pulverized leaves,followed by volume reduction by *** extract was phytochemical characterized using ultra-performance liquid chromatography,and total phenol and flavonoid analysis also was *** antioxidant capacity was determined through DPPH*radical,the antimicrobial property was evaluated against standard bacteria and fungi,and the viability assays were performed against mice ***:Fifteen compounds were identified belonging to two main classes terpenoids and *** extract showed 22.185 mg GAE/g of total phenolic compounds and 3.220 mg QE/g of ***,extract showed higher antioxidant ability similar to butylated hydroxytoluene a standard molecule[(3.042±0.019)mg AAE/g and(4.12±0.10)mg AAE/g to saline extract and butylated hydroxytoluene,respectively].The antimicrobial assays demonstrated that the extract had a significant antifungal potential against Candida species and could be used with safety against mice splenocytes,in concentrations lower than 50μg/mL,promoting higher proliferation in these ***:Saline extract from Tithonia diversifolia leaves presents potential antioxidant,antifungal properties and induces immunostimulation in mice splenocytes.

AIM: To investigate whether Helicobacter pylori (H pylori) infection is associated with hepatitis A virus (HAV) infection, presence of enteroparasites, and other surrogates of fecal exposure. METHODS: We conducted a cross-sectional study in 121 children consecutively admitted at a pediatric hospital in Salvador, Brazil. H pyloriand HAV infection were identified by the presence of serum antibodies. Stool specimens were examined for the presence of ova and parasites. A structured questionnaire inquiring about sanitary conditions and life style was applied to each subject. RESULTS: Fifty-one of the 121 children (42.1%) were found to be seropositive for H pylori, and 45 (37.2%) for HAV. The seroprevalence of Hpyloriand HAV both increased significantly with age. Cross-tabulation of data showed that 26 (21.5%) were seropositive and 51 (42.1%) were negative for both H py/lriand HAV antibodies (x^2=7.18, OR=2.8, CI 1.30-5.97). The age adjusted OR for an HAV-infected child being H pylori positive was 2.3 (CI 1.02-5.03). The agreement between H pylori and HAV seropositivity was fair (k=0.24). After controlling for possible confounding, the variables remaining independently associated with seropositivity to H pylori were age, presence of Giardia lamblia in feces (OR=3.2, 95%CI, 1.1-9.5) and poor garbage disposal quality (OR=2.4, 95%CI, 1.1-5.1). CONclUSION: Our data suggest that H pylori infection is associated with surrogate markers of fecal exposure. Thus, we conclude that the fecal-oral route is relevant in the transmission of HP among children in an urban setting of a developing country. The association observed between G. lamblia and H pylori infection may have several explanations. Further studies to investigate this relationship are warranted.

The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic has been challenging for healthcare professionals *** of the populations affected by the pandemic are patients on renal replacement therapy,as kidney disease is an independent risk factor for severe COVID-19 and maintenance dialysis(a lifesustaining therapy)cannot be interrupted in the vast majority of *** the past months,several authors and medical societies have published recommendations and guidelines on the management of this *** article is a comprehensive review regarding the measures to prevent,contain and deal with a COVID-19 pandemic in the dialysis *** recapitulate the epidemiology and pathophysiology of COVID-19 in kidney dysfunction and present the main recommendations concerning the screening of healthcare personnel,dialysis patients and visitors as well as measures to improve the safety of the dialysis facilities’*** addition to preventive measures,this article briefly describes actions directed towards management of an outbreak of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)within a dialysis facility,the management of complications in dialysis patients with COVID-19 and overall data regarding the management of children with kidney disease.

AIM:To assess the effects of ME-49 Toxoplasma gondii(***) strain infection on the myenteric plexus and external muscle of the jejunum in ***:Thirty rats were distributed into two groups:the control group(CG)(n = 15) received 1 m L of saline solution orally, and the infected group(IG)(n=15)inoculated with 1 m L of saline solution containing500 oocysts of M-49 *** strain *** 36 d of infection,the rats were *** with *** was confirmed by blood samples collected from all rats at the beginning and end of the *** jejunum of five animals was removed and submitted to routine histological processing(paraffin)for analysis of external muscle *** remaining jejunum from the others animals was used to analyze the general population and the NADH-diaphorase,VIPergic and nitrergic subpopulations of myenteric neurons;and the enteric glial cells(S100-IR).RESULTS:Serological analysis showed that animals from the IG were infected with the *** affecting jejunal muscle thickness was observed in the IG rats(77.02±42.71)in relation to the CG(51.40±12.34),Pcluded that infection with oocysts of ME-49 *** strain caused quantitative and plastic alterations in the myenteric plexus of the jejunum in rats.

Thoracic actinomycosis is a rare disease in the era of antibiotics. Infection involving the mediastinum is extremely infrequent and the symptoms are nonspecific. It’s very important to include actinomycosis in the differential diagnosis of pulmonary affections and mediastinal masses. We present a case of posterior mediastinal mass found on chest computed tomography and the patient was treated with penicillin and fully recovered.
