Three types of photocatalysts were synthesized by metal organic chemical vapor deposition and impregnation methods using the almond shell activated carbon as support. These photocatalysts denoted by （TiO2/ASAC （V）, TiO2/ASAC （11） and TiO2/ASAC （12）） were characterized by scanning electron microscopy （SEM）, X-ray diffraction （XRD）, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy （FTIR）, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy （DRS） and nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherms. SEM observation shows that TiO2 was deposited on activated carbon surface. XRD results confirm that TiO2 existed in a mixture of anatase and rutile phases. The DRS spectra show the characteristic absorption edge of TiO2 at approximate 380 nm corresponding to the optical band gap of 3.26 eV. Besides, FTIR spectrum indicated the presence of （Ti-O） groups. The specific surface area of photocatalysts decreased drastically in comparison with the original activated carbon. The catalysts were very efficient for the photodegradation of total organic carbon （TOC） from industrial phosphoric acid solution under UV irradiation. The kinetics of photocatalytic TOC degradation was found to follow a pseudo- first-order model. The prepared TiO2/ASAC showed high photoactivity for the photodegradation of TOC in the following order： TiO2/ASAC （V）〉 TiO2/ASAC （11）〉 TiO2/ASAC （12）〉 ASAC 〉 TiO2 （P25）.

Knowledge of an animal＇s home range is a crucial component in making informed management decisions. However, many home range studies are limited by study area size, and therefore may underestimate the size of the home range. In many cases, individuals have been shown to travel outside of the study area and utilize a larger area than estimated by the study design. In this study, data collected by multiple research groups studying bottlenose dolphins on the east coast of Florida were combined to determine how home range estimates increased with increasing study area size. Home range analyses utilized photo-identification data collected from 6 study areas throughout the St j.hns River （S j.; j.cksonville, FL, USA） and adj.cent waterways, extending a total of 253km to the southern end of Mosquito Lagoon in the Indian River Lagoon Estuarine System. Univariate kernel density estimates （KDEs） were computed for individuals with 10 or more sightings （n= 20）. Kernels were calculated for the primary study area （S j.） first, then additional kernels were calculated by combining the S j. and the next adj.cent waterway; this continued in an additive fashion until all study areas were included. The 95% and 50% KDEs calculated for the S j. alone ranged from 21 to 35 km and 4 to 19 kin, respectively. The 95% and 50% KDEs calculated for all combined study areas ranged from 116 to 217 km and 9 to 70 km, respectively. This study illustrates the degree to which home range may be underestimated by the use of limited study areas and demonstrates the benefits of conducting collaborative science.

This paper investigates the correlation between tidal stress and earthquakes for periods ranging from hours to months in the limited zone of the Palu region(Central Sulawesi,Indonesia).Through Schuster and binomial tests,we examined the relation between the seismicity(time density of seismic events)and tidal potential arising from the Moon and Sun,using all tidal components simultaneously and focusing on the estimation of specific *** results show significant correlations between the seismicity and tidal potential for S2(0.5 d)and O1(1.075 d)tidal components in the case of solely isolated earthquake events,particularly for shallow ***,there is a strong relationship between aftershocks and tidal components larger than the Mf period(13.661 d).Finally,the analysis of the temporal variation of the earthquake-tide relation reveals an optimal correlation for about six years before the 2018 great Palu *** correlation becomes insignificant afterwards.

Primates access energy from plant fiber via bacterial fermentation in either a modified forestomach(‘foregut’),a caecocolic(‘hindgut’)chamber of the large intestine,or *** digestive retention times allow for more complete fermentation;as such,primates that consume an herbivorous diet high in fiber are expected to have both relatively and absolutely longer retention times than those mammals that rely on more readily digestible plant foods,such as *** used particulate markers to measure the digestive retention times of captive Allen’s swamp monkeys[Allenopithecus nigroviridis(Pocock,1907)](n=3)and L’Hoest’s monkey(Cercopithecus lhoesti ***,1899)(n=2).Results indicate mean retention times of 23.2-29.4 h and 23.2-24.0 h for *** and ***,*** from this study,in combination with previously published data on digestive retention times in other primate species,indicate that cercopithecines differ from other primate taxa by having lengthier retention times that can be predicted by body mass *** data are consistent with the hypothesis that relatively lengthy retention times are a primitive trait for Cercopithecinae.

AIM: To report the results of fixed-fulcrum fully constrained reverse shoulder arthroplasty for the treatment of recurrent shoulder instability in patients with epilepsy. METHODS: A retrospective review was conducted at a single facility. Cases were identified using a com-puterized database and all clinic notes and operative reports were reviewed. All patients with epilepsy and recurrent shoulder instability were included for study. Between j.ly 2003 and August 2011 five shoulders in five consecutive patients with epilepsy underwent fixed-fulcrum fully constrained reverse shoulder arthroplasty for recurrent anterior shoulder instability. The mean duration of epilepsy in the cohort was 21 years(range, 5-51) and all patients suffered from grand mal seizures. RESULTS: Mean age at the time of surgery was 47 years(range, 32-64). The cohort consisted of four males and one female. Mean follow-up was 4.7 years(range, 4.3-5 years). There were no further episodes of instability, and no further stabilisation or revision procedures were performed. The mean Oxford shoulder instability score improved from 8 preoperatively(range, 5-15) to 30 postoperatively(range, 16-37)(P = 0.015) and the mean subj.ctive shoulder value improved from 20(range, 0-50) preoperatively to 60(range, 50-70) postoperatively(P = 0.016). Mean active forward elevation improved from 71° preoperatively(range,45°-130°) to 100° postoperatively(range, 80°-90°) and mean active external rotation improved from 15° preoperatively(range, 0°-30°) to 40°(20°-70°) postoperatively. No cases of scapular notching or loosening were noted. CONCLUSION: Fixed-fulcrum fully constrained reverse shoulder arthroplasty should be considered for the treatment of recurrent shoulder instability in patients with epilepsy.

The aim of the study was to test the interaction between Thr and Gly in low crude protein(CP)diets in 7 to 28 d broilers on production performance and plasma metabolites.A total of 2,040 broilers were allocated to 17 treatments.A positive control(PC)diet(20.5%CP)was formulated to be adequate in dietary Thr and Gly.A negative control(NC)diet(18.5%CP,deficient in Thr and Gly)was supplemented with crystalline L-Thr and Gly to obtain a 4 Thr×4 Gly *** Thr was tested at an apparent faecal digestibility(AFD)Thr-to-Lys ratio,which was 55%,58%,61%or 64%,and dietary Gly was tested at an AFD(Gly+Ser)-to-Lys ratio,which was 135%,142%,149%or 156%.Plasma samples were collected at 28 *** low CP diet,formulated at 64%Thr and 156%Gly,resulted in a higher body weight gain(BWG)(P<0.01)and similar feed conversion ratio(FCR)as the high CP treatment(PC).FCR was improved(P<0.001)by L-Thr *** response to dietary Thr was significant for feed intake(FI),BWG and FCR(P<0.01).A near-significant interaction for Thr×Gly was observed for FI and BWG(Plinear=0.091 and P=0.074,respectively).Gly did not affect production *** interaction between Thr×Gly on plasma free AA level was observed(P<0.05).Free AA concentration in plasma linearly decreased with increase in AFD Thr-to-Lys ratio,and increased with increase in AFD(Gly+Ser)-to-Lys *** uric acid concentration was higher in PC than in all of the other diets,and plasma triglyceride concentration was decreased by L-Thr supplementation,but not by *** conclusion,Gly was not limiting for growth at low dietary CP level unless Thr was deficient,showing that adequate amounts of Thr in broiler diets can overcome marginal supply of Gly and Ser and allow reduction of dietary CP from 20.5%to 18.5%for broilers from 7 to 28 d of age.
