Feasibility of hydrogen fuel cell technology for railway intercity services:a case study for the Piedmont in North Carolina

A new calcium aluminate cement CA-670 was studied in the system of tabular alumina, white fused alumina （WFA）, and bauxite based low cement castables. The flow ability, strength development, and hot strength （ HMOR ） were investigated. Different types of additives were used for the CA-670 bonded castables. The results show CA-670 provides a good workability for each type of＂ castables. CA-670 displays a good compatibility with different types of additives. Testing on different batches of CA-670 shows good reproducible properties in each castable, which manifests good consistency and reliability of CA-670.

A series of molecules with oligophenylene backbone,thiolate anchoring group,pentafluoro-λ^(6)-sulfanyl(−SF_(5))tail group was synthesized and used as precursors to form self-assembled monolayers(SAMs)on Au(111)*** resulting SAMs feature dense molecular packing,upright molecular orientation,chemically homogeneous SAM-ambient interface,comprised entirely of the−SF_(5)*** SAMs exhibit exceptional wetting and electrostatic properties,showing advancing water contact angles up to 103°and work function values up to 5.96 eV—probably the highest values reported for any aromatic monolayers on *** also feature a comparably low value of the tunnelling decay coefficient(0.38±0.07Å^(−1)),typical of oligophenylene backbone,which is not affected by the introduction of the−SF_(5)*** latter also hardly affects the current densities at a specific bias compared to analogous monolayers with other electronegative tail *** superior electrostatic and good charge transport properties of the designed,SF_(5)-terminated SAMs make them potentially useful for interface engineering in organic electronics and photovoltaics.

The hypothesis that some children with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) may show sensitivity or allergic reactions to various food items has led to the development of the oligoantigenic diet. The rationale of the diet is to eliminate certain foods from the diet in order to exclude potential allergens contained either naturally in food or in artificial ingredients with allergenic properties. The oligoantigenic diet attempts to identify individual foods to which a person might be sensitive. First， ADHD symptoms are monitored while multiple foods are excluded from the diet. Subsequently， if symptoms remit， foods are re-introduced， while observing the individual for the return of symptoms. An advantage of the oligoantigenic diet is that it can be tailored to the individual. A growing body of evidence suggests that behavioral symptoms of subgroups of children with ADHD may benefit from the elimination of certain foods. The effect sizes of an oligoantigenic diet regarding improvement of ADHD symptoms have been found to be medium to large. Available evidence suggests that the investigation of the role of food hypersensitivities in ADHD is a promising avenue worthy of further exploration. Further large-scale， randomized controlled studies including assessment of long-term outcome are therefore warranted.

Aurora kinases are essential for cell mitosis, amplified and overexpressed in various human malignancies. Therefore, Aurora kinases have been promising targets for anticancer therapies, which has prompted an intensive search for their small-molecule inhibitors[1]. We performed a hierarchical and time-efficient virtual screening cascade for scaffold hopping, aiming to obtain structurally novel and highly potent hit compounds targeting Aurora kinases[2]. The cascade consisted of a shape-and electrostatic-based protocol, combined with a QSAR-based selection protocol. This virtual screening cascade was used to screen two databases, one commercial database named J＆K database containing about 5.2 million diverse molecules and Drugbank database. Experimental validations led to the identification of one structurally novel and highly potent hit compound（hit 1, found to possess an IC50 of 8.1 and 19 nM for Aurora kinases A and B, respectively）, which can be a promising starting point for further exploration.

A key requirement for well performing devices based onorganic semiconductors is to ensure ohmic contacts, where anefficient hole and electron injection and extraction can beachieved at the electrode/semiconductor interfaces. The usualway to obtain ohmic contacts involves fine tuning of the energet-ics at the interfaces by using dopants (p- type and n-type) to con-trol the Fermi level of the semiconductor [1,2], or using suitablemetals or metal oxides as electrodes [3].
