since indoor clothing insulation is a key element in thermal comfort models,the aim of the present study is proposing an approach for predicting it,which could ass.s. the occupants of a building in terms of recommendations regarding their *** that,a s.s.ematic analys.s.of input variables is exposed,and 13 regression and 12 classification machine learning algorithms were developed and *** results are based on data from 3352 questionnaires and 21 input variables from a field study in mixed-mode office buildings in *** temperature at 6 a.m.,indoor air temperature,indoor relative humidity,comfort temperature and gender were the most relevant features for predicting clothing *** comparing machine learning algorithms,decision tree-based algorithms with Boosting techniques achieved the best *** proposed model provides an efficient method for forecasting the clothing insulation level and its application would entail optimising thermal comfort and energy efficiency.

The soft X-ray Imager(sXI)is part of the scientific payload of the solar wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer(sMILE)*** is a joint science mission between the European space Agency(EsA)and the Chinese Academy of sciences(CAs)and is due for launch in *** is a compact X-ray telescope with a wide field-of-view(FOV)capable of encompassing large portions of Earth’s magnetosphere from the vantage point of the sMILE *** is.s.nsitive to the soft X-rays produced by the solar Wind Charge eXchange(sWCX)process produced when heavy ions of solar wind origin interact with neutral particles in Earth’s *** provides a mechanism for boundary detection within the magnetosphere,such as the position of Earth’s magnetopause,because the solar wind heavy ions have a very low density in regions of closed magnetic field *** sensitivity of the sXI is.s.ch that it can potentially track movements of the magnetopause on timescales of a few minutes and the orbit of sMILE will enable such movements to be tracked for segments lasting many *** is led by the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom(UK)with collaborating organisations on hardware,software and science support within the UK,Europe,China and the United states.

This work shows that despite a lattice mismatch of almost 20%, CdMnTe/CdTe/CdMnTe heterostructures grown directly on si(111) have surprisingly good optical emission properties. The investigated structures were grown by molecular beam epitaxy and characterized by scanning transmission electron microscopy, macro-and micro-photoluminescence. Low temperature macro-photoluminescence experiments indicate three emission bands which depend on the CdTe layer thickness and have different confinement characteristics. Temperature measurements reveal that the lower energy emission band (at 1.48 eV)is associated to defects and bound exciton states, while the main emission at 1.61 eV has a weak 2D character and the higher energy one at 1.71 eV has a well-defined (zero-dimensional, 0D) 0D nature. Micro-photoluminescence measurements.s.ow the existence of sharp and strongly circularly polarized (up to 40%) emission lines which can be related to the presence of Mn in the heterostructure. This result opens the possibility of producing photon sources with the typical spin control of the diluted magnetic semiconductors using the low-cost silicon technology.

The effect of plant type on n-alkane biomarker has been widely studied,but the influence of plant type on n-alkanoic acids(n-FAs)has received less *** the effect of the distribution of n-FAs and their hydrogen isotope composition(δ^(2)H_(FA))is critical for interpreting sedimentaryδ^(2)H_(FA)values as proxies of hydroclimate and/or vegetation *** this.s.udy,we s.s.ematically investigated the distribution ofn-FAs andδ^(2)H_(FA)values across.s.asons on the Chinese Loess Plateau(CLP).Our results.s.owed that there were no significant seasonal differences in n-FAs distribution andδ^(2)H_(FA)values,but there were significant differences inδ^(2)H_(FA)values across plant ***δ^(2)H_(FA)values ranged from-185‰to-125‰in dicots(-161‰±28‰),and from-215‰to-170‰in monocots(-196‰±22‰)on the *** fractionation betweenδ^(2)H_(FA)values and precipitationδ^(2)H(ε_(FA-P))was also^(2)H-enriched in dicots relative to *** the regional scale of the CLP,δ^(2)H_(FA)values were not correlated withδ^(2)H values of ***,δ^(2)H_(FA)values from the CLP were similar to expectations from a global comparison,both in terms of their mean values and high variability among plants growing in sites with similarδ^(2)H values of *** some of this variability inεFA-Pis due to the effect of plant type,a careful ass.s.ment of the likely sources of waxes in terrestrial sediments is critical when usingδ^(2)H_(FA)values for paleohydroclimate reconstruction.

In this.s.udy,we investigate the bulk-boundary and restricted phase space(RPs)thermodynamics of Rissner-nordstrom(R-n)Ads and 6-dimensional charged Gauss-Bonnet Ads black ***,we examine the topological characteristics of the considered black holes and compare them with the results of extended *** determine that the topological behavior of the bulk-boundary thermodynamics is the same as that of the extended thermodynamics,whereas the RPs thermodynamics exhibits a distinct ***,we demonstrate that within the RPs formalism,there is only one critical point with a topological charge of+1(Q_(t)=+1).Moreover,in the RPs formalism,the inclusion of higher-derivative curvature terms in the form of GaussBonnet gravity does not alter the topological classification of critical points in charged Ads black holes.

Background Anthonomus grandis grandis is the main cotton pest in the Americas,with the potential to become a pest in other *** insect us.s.the plant's reproductive organs for feeding,oviposition,and survival strategies in the off-season,sheltering in dry *** study aimed to know the reproductive potential,feeding,longevity,and morphometric characteristics of boll weevils from dry bolls.s.uares,and *** were obtained from infested squares,dry bolls,and traps installed in cotton fields and the Caatinga *** weevil pairs were maintained in the laboratory to ass.s. the oviposition,feeding holes,longevity,and morphometric measurements of the parental and F_(1) *** In the parental generation,boll weevils from traps(the Caatinga area and cotton cultivation)showed greater reproductive *** weevils from squares and the Caatinga area showed greater feeding activity compared with those from cotton *** rostrum length,thorax+abdomen length,and abdomen width were observed in boll weevils from cotton cultivation and dry *** origin of boll weevils parental generation did not affect progeny emergence *** F_(1) generation of boll weevils.s.owed significant differences in average longevity depending on the origin of different ***,differences in rostrum lengths were observed,with the boll weevils coming from traps installed in cotton cultivation,the Caatinga area,and dry bolls being the *** thorax+abdomen length and abdomen width,the highest values were observed in those from the Caatinga area and cotton *** It was proven that dry bolls did not affect the reproductive,feeding,and longevity performance of boll weevils,enabling better insect fitness(reproduction and size)in relation to those coming from *** use of dry bolls as off-season shelter is an important survival strategy for the boll weevil.

Melt extrusion-based additive manufacturing(ME-AM)is a promising technique to fabricate porous.s.affolds for tissue engi-neering ***,most synthetic semicrystalline polymers do not poss.s. the intrinsic biological activity required to control cell *** of biomolecules on polymeric surfaces of AM scaffolds enhances the bioactivity of a construct;however,there are limited strategies available to control the surface ***,we report a strategy to tune the surface density of bioactive groups by blending a low molecular weight poly(ε-caprolactone)5k(PCL5k)containing orthogonally reactive azide groups with an unfunctionalized high molecular weight PCL75k at different *** porous three-dimensional(3D)scaf-folds were then fabricated using a high weight percentage(75 wt.%)of the low molecular weight PCL *** a proof-of-concept test,we prepared films of three different mass ratios of low and high molecular weight polymers with a thermopress and reacted with an alkynated fluorescent model compound on the surface,yielding a density of 201-561 pmol/cm^(2).subsequently,a bone morphogenetic protein 2(BMP-2)-derived peptide was grafted onto the films comprising different blend compositions,and the effect of peptide surface density on the osteogenic differentiation of human mesenchymal stromal cells(hMs.s.was *** two weeks of culturing in a basic medium,cells expressed higher levels of BMP receptor II(BMPRII)on films with the conjugated *** addition,we found that alkaline phosphatase activity was only significantly enhanced on films contain-ing the highest peptide density(i.e.,561 pmol/cm^(2)),indicating the importance of the surface *** together,these results emphasize that the density of surface peptides on cell differentiation must be considered at the cell-material ***,we have presented a viable strategy for ME-AM community that desires to tune the bulk and surface functionality via blending of(m

Realizing the full potential of ultrahigh-intensity lasers for particle and radiation generation will require multi-beam arrangements due to technology ***,we investigate how to optimize their coupling with solid ***,we show that overlapping two intense lasers in a mirror-like configuration onto a solid with a large preplasma can greatly improve the generation of hot electrons at the target front and ion acceleration at the target *** underlying mechanis.s.are analyzed through multidimensional particle-in-cell simulations,revealing that the self-induced magnetic fields driven by the two laser beams at the target front are s.s.eptible to reconnection,which is one possible mechanism to boost electron *** addition,the res.s.ive magnetic field generated during the transport of the hot electrons in the target bulk tends to improve their *** simulations also indicate that such effects can be further enhanced by overlapping more than two laser beams.

In today’s manufacturing industries,hard competition between rival firms makes it compulsory for researchers to design lighter and cheaper machine components due to the megatrends of cost-effectiveness and *** this point,aluminum syntactic foams(As.s.are new-generation engineering composites and come into the upfront as a *** to their features like low density,sufficient elongation,and perfect energy absorption ability,these advanced foams have been considerably seductive for many industrial sectors *** this.s.udy,an industrial-oriented automatic die casting technology was used for the first time to manufacture the combination of AA7075/porous expanded clay(PEC).Micro evaluations(optical and FEsEM)reveal that there is a homogenous particle distribution in the foam samples,and inspections are compatible with the other AsF ***,T6 aging heat treatment was operated on one half of the produced foams to explore the probable impact of aging on the compressive *** results.s.ow that PEC particles can be an alternative to expensive hollow spheres used in the previous ***,a favorable relationship is ascertained between the aging treatment and mechanical properties.s.ch as compression strength and plateau strength.

Major life transitions are always difficult because change cos.s.*** findings have demonstrated how mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation(OxPhos)defects increase the energetic cost of living and that excessive integrated stress response(IsR)signaling may prevent cellular identity transitions during *** this perspective,we discuss general bioenergetic principles of life transitions and the costly molecular process.s.involved in reprograming the cellular hardware/software as cells.s.ift *** energetic cost of cellular differentiation has not been directly quantified,representing a gap in *** propose that the IsR is an energetic checkpoint evolved to(i)prevent OxPhos-deficient cells from engaging in excessively costly transitions and(ii)allow IsR-positive cells to recruit s.s.emic energetic resources by signaling via GDF15 and the brain.
