Objective To evaluate the clinical characteristics and in-hospital outcomes of elderly South-East Asian patients undergoing primary pereutaneous coronary intervention （PPCI）. Methods From January 2009 to December 2012, 1268 patients （86.4% male, mean age of 58,4 ± 12.2 years） presented to our hospital for ST-elevation myocardial infarction （STEMI） and underwent PPCI. They were divided into two groups： elderly group defined as age _〉 70 years and non-elderly group defined as age 〈 70 years. Data were collected retrospectively on baseline clinical characteristics, door-to-balloon （D2B） time, angiographic findings, therapeutic modality and hospital course. Results The elderly group constituted 19% of the study population with mean age 76.6 ± 5.0 years. There was a higher proportion of female gender and ethnic Chinese patients in the elderly group when compared with the non-elderly group. The former was less likely to be smokers and have a significantly higher prevalence of hypertension. The mean D2B time was significantly longer in the elderly group. They also had a significantly higher incidence of triple vessel disease and obstructive left main disease. The use of radial artery access, glyeoprotein 2b/3a inhibitors and drug-eluting stents during PPCI were also significantly lower. In-hospital mortality was significantly higher in the elderly group. The rate of cardiogenic shock and inhospital complications were also significantly higher. Conclusions Our registry showed that in-hospital mortality rate in elderly South-East Asian patients undergoing PPCI for STEMI was high. Further studies into the optimal STEMI management strat- egy for these elderly patients are warranted.

Background:Optical coherence tomography angiography(OCTA)is a novel non-invasive angiography technology that has recently been extensively studied for its utility in anterior segment *** this study,we compared a split-spectrum amplitude decorrelation angiography(SSADA)OCTA and an optical micro-angiography(OMAG SD)OCTA system to current angiographic technique,indocyanine green angiography(ICGA),to assess corneal vascularisation in an animal ***:We imaged 16 rabbits,(one eye per animal)with corneal vascularisation using SSADA OCTA(angioVue;Optovue Inc.,USA),OMAG OCTA(angioscan;RS-3000 Nidek ***.,Japan)and ICGA in the same region of interest of the cornea at successive *** then analysed all scanned images for vessel density measurements and used paired t-tests and Bland-Altman plots to examine for significant *** en-face segmentation images from each of the OCTA scans were also extracted and were matched at every 50μm segmentation to be compared for vessel density at the respective ***:Bland-Altman plots revealed a good agreement between all three imaging techniques(P>0.05)for all vessel density measurements computed,and the ranges of 95%limit of agreement were acceptable from a clinical *** significant difference was reported,with ICGA(μ=16.52±8.94%)being more comparable to the OMAG OCTA(μ=16.23±9.51%;p=0.50)than the SSADA OCTA(μ=17.09±7.34%;p=0.33)***,a good correlation value(r>0.9)was obtained when comparing the vessel density measurements of the en-face segmentations between the OCTA ***:Comparable vessel density quantification between the two OCTA systems,and with ICGA was *** analysis of the vasculature at different depths showed varied performance in the two OCTA systems relative to each *** implications of the study may help to aid in the development of better OCTA algorithms for the anterior segment and its use in clinical translational research.

Psychological depression is drawing accumulating attention nowadays, due to the skyrocketing incidence worldwide and the enormous burdens it incurs. Physical exercise has been long recog- nized for its therapeutic effects on depressive disorders, although knowledge of the underlying mechanisms remains limited. Suppressed hippocampal neurogenesis in adult brains has been regarded, at least partly, contributive to depression, whereas physical exercise that restores neuro- genesis accordingly exerts the anti-depressive action. Several recent publications have suggested the potential role of adiponectin, a protein hormone secreted by peripheral mature adipocytes, in mediating physical exercise-triggered enhancement of hippocampal neurogenesis and alleviation of depression. Here, we briefly review these novel findings and discuss the possibility of counter- acting depression by modulating adiponectin signaling in the hippocampus with interventions including physical exercise and administration of pharmacological agents.

In the original publication of this article[1]the algorithm of the OCTA(Nidek RS-3000)was described incorrectly as OMAG(Optical micro angiography).However,the system uses CODAA(Complex OCT signal difference angiography).Thus,‘OMAG’in the article should be replaced with‘CODAA’,and‘Optical micro angiography’should be replaced with‘Complex OCT signal difference angiography’!

The liver is an immunologically tolerant organ and a common metastatic site of multiple cancer *** a role for cancer cell invasion programs has been well characterized,whether and how liver-intrinsic factors drive metastatic spread is incompletely ***,we show that aberrantly activated hepatocyte-intrinsic cell cycle-related kinase(CCRK)signaling in chronic liver diseases is critical for cancer metastasis by reprogramming an immunosuppressive *** an inducible liverspecific transgenic model,we found that CCRK overexpression dramatically increased both B16F10 melanoma and MC38 colorectal cancer(CRC)metastasis to the liver,which was highly infiltrated by polymorphonuclear-myeloid-derived suppressor cells(PMNMDSCs)and lacking natural killer T(NKT)*** of PMN-MDSCs in CCRK transgenic mice restored NKT cell levels and their interferon gamma production and reduced liver metastasis to 2.7% and 0.7%(metastatic tumor weights)in the melanoma and CRC models,***,CCRK activated nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB)signaling to increase the PMN-MDSC trafficking chemokine C-X-C motif ligand 1(CXCL1),which was positively correlated with liver-infiltrating PMN-MDSC levels in CCRK transgenic ***,CRC liver metastasis patients exhibited hyperaaivation of hepatic CCRK/NF-κB/CXCL1 signaling,which was associated with accumulation of PMN-MDSCs and paucity of NKT cells compared to healthy liver transplantation *** summary,this study demonstrates that immunosuppressive reprogramming by hepatic CCRK signaling undermines antimetastatic *** findings offer new mechanistic insights and therapeutic targets for liver metastasis intervention.

草地利用移动性的丧失导致生态系统退化,是草地放牧生态学领域兴起的主导性学说。在我国,草地利用移动性的丧失不仅是政策变化导致的,更是众多自然和社会因素叠加演进的结果。草地利用移动性的重建对于中国草地恢复和可持续性管理具有重要意义,但是很难通过恢复传统或季节性轮牧的途径实现。我们可以依托智能围栏、牲畜智能可穿戴设备以及草地生产力无人机快测等新型放牧管理技术,在我国不同气候区域、不同类型草地,因地制宜地发展新型草地移动性管理模式,进而重建"草地利用的移动性"。新型轮牧模式还应与草畜平衡、牲畜补饲以及土壤养分补充等重要生态草牧业措施结合,确保我国草地资源的高效可持续利用。

＜正＞Renal tubular epithelial cells undergo epithelial to mesenchymal transition（EMT） under hyperglycaemic conditions,which is associated with renal interstitial *** of the rennin-angiotensin system（RAS） is involved in diabetic *** present study investigated the positive role of angiotensin AT1 receptor activation in high glucose-induced EMT in cultured tubular epithelial cells.A rat kidney proximal tubular epithelial cell line（NRK-52E） was used in the present *** of E-cadherin and vimentin,were estimated using fluorescence immunocytochemistry,mRNA levels of angiotensinogen（AGT）,angiotensin-converting enzyme（ACE） and AT1 receptors were determined by real-time PCR,protein levels of E-cadherin,vimentin,fibronectin,matrix metallopeptidase（MMP）-9 and phosphorylated extracellular signal-regulated kinase（ERK） 1/2 were analyzed by western blotting and the concentrations of angiotensin（ang） II and transforming growth factor（TGF）-β1 in the culture medium were determined by enzyme immunoassay and *** glucose induced EMT and increased the synthesis of fibronectin and ***,high glucose increased AGT,ACE and AT1 receptor mRNA levels,as well as angⅡand TGF-β1 concentrations in the culture medium and ERK1/2 *** of cells with the AT1 receptor antagonist losartan attenuated high glucose-induced increases in TGF-β1 and ERK1/2 phosphorylation and reduced EMT,as well as the consequent synthesis of fibronectin *** results suggest that the activated local RAS mediates high glucose-induced *** activating AT1 receptors and stimulating TGF-β1 synthesis,the elevated local RAS participates in high glucose-induced EMT and increased extracellular matrix secretion.
