APPL2 Negatively Regulates Olfactory functions by Switching Fate Commitments of Neural Stem Cells in Adult Olfactory Bulb via Interaction with Notch1 Signaling

Adult olfactory neurogenesis plays critical roles in maintaining olfactory ***-generated neurons in the subventricular zone migrate to the olfactory bulb(OB) and determine olfactory discrimination,but the mechanisms underlying the regulation of olfactory neurogenesis remain *** previous study indicated the potential of APPL2(adaptor protein,phosphotyrosine interacting with PH domain and leucine zipper 2) as a modulating factor for neurogenesis in the adult olfactory *** the present study,we report how APPL2 affects neurogenesis in the OB and thereby mediates olfactory discrimination by using both in vitro neural stem cells(NSCs) and an in vivo animal model-APPL2 transgenic(Tg) *** the in vitro study,we found that APPL2 overexpression resulted in NSCs switching from neuronal differentiation to gliogenesis while APPL2 knockdown promoted *** the in vivo study,APPL2 Tg mice had a higher population of glial cells and dampened neuronal production in the olfactory system,including the corpus callosum,OB,and rostral migratory *** APPL2 Tg mice displayed impaired performance in olfactory discrimination tests compared with wild-type ***,we found that an interaction of APPL2 with Notch1 contributed to the roles of APPL2 in modulating the neurogenic lineage-switching and olfactory *** conclusion,APPL2 controls olfactory discrimination by switching the fate choice of NSCs via interaction with Notch1 signaling.

Wear and corrosion are the main failure mechanisms of bearings and some measures have been proposed to prolong the working lifetime. Possible approaches include the use of more expensive materials, ion implantation, surface finish enhancement, and ion beam assisted deposition. Among them ion implantation is used extensively for the modification of surface and properties of materials and many studies have disclosed that the beating steel surface can be strengthened by ion implantation of different elements such as N, Mo, N and Mo, and so on.

PHF20 collaborates with PARP1 to promote stemness and aggressiveness of neuroblastoma cells through activation of SOX2 and OCT4

The differentiation status of neuroblastoma （NB） strongly correlates with its clinical outcomes; however, the molecular mechanisms driving maintenance of sternness and differentiation remain poorly understood. Here, we show that plant homeodomain finger-containing protein 20 （PHF20） functions as a critical epigenetic regulator in sustaining stem cell-like phenotype of NB by using CRISPR/Casg-based targeted knockout （kO） for high-throughput screening of gene function in NB cell differentiation. The expression of PHF20 in NB was significantly associated with high aggressiveness of the tumor and poor outcomes for NB patients. Deletion of PHF20 inhibited NB cell proliferation, invasive migration, and stem ceU-Uke traits. Mechanistically, PHF20 interacts with poly（ADP-ribose） polymerase 1 （PARP1） and directly binds to promoter regions of octamer-binding transcription factor 4 （OCT4） and sex determining region y-box 2 （SOX2） to modulate a histone mark associated with active transcription, trimethylation of lysine 4 on histone H3 protein subunit （H3k4me3）. Overexpression of OCT4 and SOX2 restored growth and progression of PHF20 kO tumor cells. Consistently, OCT4 and SOX2 protein levels in clinical NB specimens were positively correlated with PHF20 expression. Our results establish PHF20 as a key driver of NB stem cell-like properties and aggressive behaviors, with implications for prognosis and therapy.

Preparation and thermal stability of Pd_(40.5)Ni_(40.5)Si_xP_(19-x) bulk metallic glasses

With the addition of Si to replace some P,Pd40.5Ni40.5SixP19-x（x=0,2.5,5,9.5,14,and 19 in atomic number fraction） bulk glassy samples with the diameter of about 5 mm were successfully prepared by use of flux treatment and water quenching *** the increase of Si content,the glass forming ability of Pd40.5Ni40.5Si-xP19-x increases first for low Si content and then decreases for high Si content （Si≥9.5at%）.The Pd40.50Ni40.5Si5P14 glassy alloy possesses the largest supercooled liquid region△T of 119 k,the largest reduced glass transition temperature of 0.621,and the largestγparameter of 0.460,indicating that this glassy alloy possesses very large glass forming ability and very high thermal stability.

We establish the boundedness and continuity of parametric Marcinkiewicz integrals associated to homogeneous compound mappings on Triebel-Lizorkin spaces and Besov spaces. Here the integral kernels are provided with some rather weak size conditions on the unit sphere and in the radial direction. Some known results are naturally improved and extended to the rough case.

Emission-tunable Ba_(2)y_(1-x)Sc_(x)NbO_(6):Bi^(3+)(0≤x≤1.0)phosphors for white LEDs

Here,we report a series of Bi^(3+)-doped Ba_(2)y_(1-x)Sc_(x)NbO_(6)(0≤x≤1.0 mol)phosphors by using the traditional high temperature solid-state *** achieve the structural and photoluminescent(PL)information,several experimental characterizations and theoretical calculations were carried out,including X-ray diffraction(XRD),Rietveld refinement,UV-visible diffuse reflectance and PL spectra,temperature dependent PL spectra,and density functional theo retical(DFT)*** XRD results show that the Bi^(3+)-doped Ba_(2)y_(1-x)Sc_(x)NbO_(6)samples belong to the double-perovskite phase with a cubic space group of Fm3 m,and the diffraction positions shift toward high diffraction angle when the larger y^(3+)ions are gradually replaced by the smaller Sc^(3+)*** addition,the refined XRD findings show that the Bi^(3+)ions tend to substitute the y^(3+)and Sc^(3+)sites in the Bi^(3+)-doped Ba_(2)y_(1-x)Sc_(x)NbO_(6)0ystal field strength around Bi^(3+)***,there is energy transfer from the Ba_(2)yNbO_(6)host to Bi^(3+)ions,which is dominated by a resonant type via a dipole-quadrupole(d-q)*** Ba_(2)y_(0.6)Sc_(0.4)NbO_(6):0.02 molBi^(3+)shows the strongest PL intensity under 365 nm excitation,with the best quantum efficiency(QE)of 68%,and it keeps 60%of the room temperature emission intensity when the temperature increases to 150℃,meaning that the Ba_(2)y_(0.6)Sc_(0.4)NbO_(6):Bi^(3+)features excellent thermal quenching of *** combining this optimal sample with a commercial red-emitting Sr_(2)Si_(5)N_(8):Eu^(2+)phosphor,and a commercial 365 nm UV LED chip,a white LED device,with the color temperature(CT)of 3678 k,color rendering index(CRI)of 67.9,and CIE coordinates at(0.371,0.376),is achieved.

Provenance and tectonic setting of the Triassic yidun Group, the yidun Terrane, Tibet

The yidun Group extends from the Shangri-La region to the south and the Changtai region to the north,and is an important component of the Triassic yidun arc in the eastern Tibetan *** is composed of the Lieyi,Qugasi,Tumugou and Lanashan Formations from the base *** the Lieyi and Lanashan Formations consist dominantly of black or gray slate and sandstone,whereas the Qugasi and Tumugou Formations have variable amounts of mafic to felsic volcanic rocks and turfs accompanied with gray slate and *** from the yidun Group has variable CIA values from 55 to 76,indicative of mild to moderate weathering condition for the source *** the sandstones define a general weathering trend nearly parallel to the A-CN boundary in the A-CN-k triangular diagram,implying limited effect of diagenetic and post-depositional *** detrital quartz and feldspar grains of the sandstones suggest predominantly felsic *** high y/Ni and low Cr/V ratios of sandstones from the yidun Group indicate more contribution from felsic than mafic ***,the yidun sandstones have Co/Th and La/Sc ratios generally similar to upper continental crust （UCC） and cluster between UCC and felsic sources,indicating felsic rocks as primary *** represents the average chemical composition of sources as evaluated by extending the predicted weathering trend back to the feldspar join in A-CN-k *** high Zr/Sc ratio or Hf concentration and Paleoproterozoic Nd modal ages （1.94-2.21 Ga）point to input of recycling components derived from old sedimentary source in a relatively stable tectonic setting.

Effect of enamel top coating on oxidation behavior of multi-arc ion plating NiCrAly coating in oxygen containing water vapor

The oxidation behavior of Ni-Cr-Al-y coating produced by multi-arc ion plating with and without an enamel coating was investigated in flow oxygen and oxygen containing water vapor at 900 ℃. The results show that Ni-Cr-Al-y coating exhibits low oxidation rate at 900 ℃ in pure oxygen and the oxidation kinetics follow the parabolic rate law. The presence of water vapor accelerates the oxidation rate of Ni-Cr-Al-y coating and k38G *** enamel top coating is very effective in protecting the Ni-Cr-Al-y coating from water vapor corrosion attack, but the corrosion attack beneath the enamel coating is not observed.
