＜正＞Objective Retinopathy of prematurity（ROP） is a common retinal disease that occurs in premature babies with an initial phase of vessel loss followed by a second phase of vessel *** has been found to be related to oxidative ***,dysfunction of the neural retina,including both photoreceptor and post-receptor,has also been documented in infants and children with ROP and in the rat ***,we showed that genetic deletion or pharmacological inhibition of aldose reductase（AR）,a rate limiting enzyme in the polyol pathway,prevented retinal ganglion cell loss and oxidative ***,we aim to assess the effect of aldose reductase deletion in the pathogenesis of retinal injury induced by hyperoxia on a cellular basis using a mouse model of *** Seven-day-old pups were exposed to 75%oxygen for five days and then returned to room air environment for several *** pathological changes in retinal vessel architecture and neuronal responses after hyperoxia exposure were examined and compared between wild-type and AR-deficient *** The central retinal vaso-obliterated area induced by hyperoxia is（64.3±1.4%） in wild-type and（57.9±1.1%） in AR-deficient mice（mean SEM,P=0.003,n=9-11）.In addition,the thickness of central inner nuclear layer and entire inner plexiform layer was significantly reduced immediately after hyperoxia exposure in the wild-type mice,but not in AR-deficient mice（P＜0.05,n=9-13）.There was absence of calretinin staining for amacrine cells in the inner nuclear layer and seriously distorted strata in the inner plexiform layer of the retina in wild-type but not ARdeficient mice after hyperpoxia ***,increased intense GFAP staining indicating M（u|¨）ller cell processes in the central-middle area of the retina was observed in the ROP model of wild-type but not AR-deficient *** Taken together,these observations suggest that the deficiency of aldose reductase may play a protective role in the n

Soil seed banks play an important role in the distribution and composition of plant communities in semiarid grassland ecosystems. However, information on how spatial scale influences the spatial heterogeneity of soil seed banks in a grassland under grazing disturbance is still lacking. Based on field sampling and greenhouse germination, we measured the species composition and seed density of soil seed banks at different spatial scales （30 mx30 m, 30 mx60 m and 30 mx90 m） along a topographical gradient in a sandy grassland in Horqin Sand Land, Northern china. By applying geostatistical methods, we examined how spatial scale and topography affected the spatial distribution of soil seed banks in the study area. Our results showed that the total number of species in soil seed banks, as well as the number of dominant annuals, increased with the increase of spatial scales. Seed density in soil seed banks decreased with the increase of spatial scales due to an increase in the slopes and relative heights of the sampling points. Geostatistical analysis showed that the relative structural variance （c/（c0＋c）） of seed density and species richness were over 65% for all spatial scales, indicating that these variables had an ob- vious spatial autocorrelation and the spatial structured variance accounted for the largest proportion of the total sample variance. Spatial autocorrelation of seed density in soil seed banks increased with the increase of measured scales, while that of species richness showed a reverse trend. These results suggest that the total number of spe- cies in soil seed banks is spatial scale dependent and lower topography may accommodate more seeds. Spatial distribution of seed density in soil seed banks is also scale dependent due to topographic variation. Grassland management, therefore, needs to consider local grazing disturbance regime, spatial scale and topography.

The mechanisms underlying the bone disease induced by diabetes are complex and not fully understood;and antiresorptive agents,the current standard of care,do not restore the weakened bone ***,we reveal the diabetic bone signature in mice at the tissue,cell,and transcriptome levels and demonstrate that three FDA-approved bone-anabolic agents correct *** decreased bone mineral density(BMD)and bone formation,damaged microarchitecture,increased porosity of cortical bone,and compromised bone ***(PTH),abaloparatide(ABL),and romosozumab/anti-sclerostin antibody(Scl-Ab)all restored BMD and corrected the deteriorated bone ***,PTH and more potently ABL induced similar responses at the tissue and gene signature levels,increasing both formation and resorption with positive balance towards bone *** contrast,Scl-Ab increased formation but decreased *** agents restored bone architecture,corrected cortical porosity,and improved mechanical properties of diabetic bone;and ABL and Scl-Ab increased toughness,a fracture resistance ***,all agents increased bone strength over the healthy controls even in the presence of severe *** findings demonstrate the therapeutic value of bone anabolic agents to treat diabetes-induced bone disease and suggest the need for revisiting the approaches for the treatment of bone fragility in diabetes.

This literature review examines the mechanisms of how exercise, specifically in the form of resistance training, may lead to pain relief in the cancer population. Primary data from three different cancer populations: breast, prostate, and lung, will be examined. A number of experimental studies have been conducted to confirm the effectiveness of resistance training on pain relief as well as the biochemical pathways that relate to this process. In this review, we will examine 5 randomized controlled trials. For the purposes of this review, pain is defined as physical suffering or discomfort associated with illness. Pain is the body’s natural signal, bringing attention to damage that has been sustained by tissues. However, chronic pain is common in the cancer population, and often serves no good purpose but instead will negatively impact both physical and mental health. The three types of pain: nociceptive, neuropathic, and inflammatory pathways have been investigated, and the knowledge of pain mechanisms allows for the understanding of how it is associated with pain. The purpose of this exploratory literature review is to give insight on how to maximize pain-relieving effects of resistance training. Research has indicated that resistance training modulates pain pathways by upregulating the release of pain-relieving substances including beta-endorphins, anti-inflammatory cytokines, and endocannabinoids. Understanding of the benefits of resistance training may be useful in relieving cancer pain, and reproducing effects of pain-relieving strategies while minimizing the symptoms related to cancer and its treatment.
