Data Augmentation and Deep Neuro-fuzzy Network for Student Performance Prediction with MapReduce Framework

The main aim of an educational institute is to offer high-quality education to students. The system to achieve better quality in the educational system is to find the knowledge from educational data and to discover the attributes that manipulate the performance of students. Student performance prediction is a major issue in education and training, specifically in the educational data mining system. This research presents the student performance prediction approach with the MapReduce framework based on the proposed fractional competitive multi-verse optimization-based deep neuro-fuzzy network. The proposed fractional competitive multi-verse optimization-based deep neuro-fuzzy network is derived by integrating fractional calculus with competitive multi-verse optimization. The MapReduce framework is designed with the mapper and the reducer phase to perform the student performance prediction mechanism with the deep learning classifier. The input data is partitioned at the mapper phase to perform the data transformation process, and thereby the features are selected using the distance measure. The selected unique features are employed for the data segmentation process, and thereafter the prediction strategy is accomplished at the reducer phase by the deep neuro-fuzzy network classifier. The proposed method obtained the performance in terms of mean square error, root mean square error and mean absolute error with the values of 0.338 3, 0.581 7, and 0.391 5, respectively.

Groundwater fluoride contamination:A reappraisal

Dissolution of fluorite （CaF2） and/or fluorapatite （FAP） [Cas（PO4）3F], pulled by calcite precipitation, is thought to be the dominant mechanism responsible for groundwater fluoride （F） contamination. Here, one dimensional reactive-transport models are developed to test this mechanism using the published dissolution and precipitation rate kinetics for the mineral pair FAP and calcite. Simulation results correctly show positive correlation between the aqueous concentrations of F and CO2 and negative correlation between F- and Ca^2＋. Results also show that precipitation of calcite, contrary to the present understanding, slows down the FAP dissolution by 10G orders of magnitude compared to the FAP dissolution by hydrolysis. For appreciable amount of fluoride contamination rock-water interaction time must be long and of order 106 years.

Wind environment around the setback building models

The irregular shape of buildings always tenders an enormous challenge to the *** wind velocity at the pedestrian level has a specific approach from a comfortable point of *** investigation highlighted the characteristic of the pedestrian level wind velocity for distinct types of asymmetrical setback *** passed study explored the pedestrian level effect for the axisymmetric models,while this study is based on the models that have symmetry about a single *** study investigates the pedestrian level flow fluctuation of setback models with single and double side setbacks at multiple *** double-side double setback buildings are efficient to reduce 28%-30%velocity in front of the building and 68%-70%velocity behind the *** it suggests that the double side double setback building is efficient to maintain the velocity at the pedestrian level,roof level,and backside of the *** setback building can easily control the frequency of fluctuating velocity at downstream flow for both along and across wind conditions.

Ancient rip current records and their implications: an example from the Cretaceous Ukra Member, Kutch, India

Poorly-sorted conglomerate patches rich in granules or sturdy fossils or both, and reddish mud matrix within the interstices stand out amidst fine-grained siliciclastic shelf sediments of the trangressive systems tract(TST) of the Lower Cretaceous Ukra Member, Kutch Basin, India. The siliciclastic shelf sediments contrast the conglomerates with their remarkable lateral extension. The fossils belong to a low-diversity group of sedentary bivalves that can be traced into the shoreface facies assemblage. The shelf sandstones are almost always sculpted by wave structures,especially hummocky cross-stratification while textures in the conglomerates suggest that the sediment settling was generally from suspensions. Textural variations in conglomerates reflect an immediate variation in flow viscosity prior to the downloading. The current structures obtained from the conglomerates record offshoreward palaeocurrent, in contrast to the shore-parallel palaeocurrent in the TST. The hummocky cross-stratified(HCS) beds are interpreted as seasonal storm deposits, while the conglomerate patches are taken as rip current deposits induced by waves of much longer periods. The glauconite-rich shale that alternates with conglomerates is probable fair-weather products. The conglomerates could not be recognized either in the coarse-grained shoreface deposits occupying the lower part of the overall fining-upward TST or in the coarsening-upward and glauconite-depleted highstand systems tract(HST). In contrast to the TST, the HST is dominantly tide-imprinted, having shore-normal palaeocurrent direction. It appears that intensification of waves and weakening of tides during transgression favored strong rip currents generation, which had presumably caused severe damage to the sea coast and to the shell banks growing preferably at the necks of the rip current channels. Rapid lateral facies transitions in the shoreface deposits at the basal part of the TST suggest enhanced irregularity in the coast

Ultrafast Laser Writing Deep inside Silicon with THz-Repetition-Rate Trains of Pulses

Three-dimensional laser writing inside silicon remains today inaccessible with the shortest infrared light pulses unless complex schemes are used to circumvent screening propagation ***,we explore a new approach irradiating silicon with trains of femtosecond laser pulses at repetition rates up to 5.6 THz that is order of magnitude higher than any source used for laser processing so *** extremely high repetition rate is faster than laser energy dissipation from microvolume inside silicon,thus enabling unique capabilities for pulse-to-pulse accumulation of free carriers generated by nonlinear ionization,as well as progressive thermal bandgap closure before any diffusion process comes into *** space-resolved measurements of energy delivery inside silicon,we evidence changes in the interplay between detrimental nonlinearities and accumulation-based *** leads to a net increase on the level of space-time energy *** improvement is also supported by experiments demonstrating high performance for 3D laser writing inside *** comparison to repeated single pulses,irradiation with trains of only four-picosecond pulses with the same total energy leads to an apparent decrease of the energy threshold for modification and drastic improvements on the repeatability,uniformity,and symmetricity of the produced *** unique benefits of THz bursts can provide a new route to meet the challenge of 3D inscription inside narrow bandgap materials.

Electrochemically functionalized graphene as an anti-corrosion reinforcement in Cu matrix composite thin films

Cu-graphene(Gr)composite thin films were prepared by electrodeposition route using in-house synthesized Gr *** Gr sheets were synthesized by the electrochemical exfoliation route using 1 M HClO4 acid as *** Gr sheets were confirmed by X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),field-emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM),and transmission electron microscopy(TEM).The(002)plane of Gr sheets was observed at 2θof 25.66°.The(002)plane confirmed the crystal structure of car-bon *** stretching vibration of C=C bond at a wavelength of 1577 cm^(−1) and other functional groups of carboxyl and epoxide groups were observed from *** confirmed the transparent structure of Gr *** prepared Gr sheets were used as reinforcement at con-centrations of 0.1 and 0.3 g/L with a copper matrix to synthesize the Cu-Gr *** prepared composite thin films were characterized by XRD,SEM,and energy-dispersion spectrometry(EDS)for morphological and analytical *** presence of Gr sheets in Cu-Gr com-posite was confirmed by EDS *** prepared Cu-Gr nanocomposite thin film showed higher corrosion resistance compared with pure copper thin films in 3.5wt%NaCl,as confirmed by Tafel *** impedance spectroscopy complimented the above results and showed that 0.3 g/L composite film achieved the highest film resistance.

Design of FOPI Controller for Time Delay Systems and Its Experimental Validation

In this paper,we report on the identification and modeling of unknown and higher order processes into first order plus dead time(FOPDT)plants based on the limit cycle information obtained from a single relay feedback test with an online fractional order proportional integral(FOPI)*** parameters of the test processes are accurately determined by the state space method while the FOPI controller settings are re-tuned to achieve enhanced performance based on the identified model parameters based on the balancedtuning method.A new performance index,integral time fractional order absolute error(ITFIAE)is introduced in this paper for balanced tuning of fractional order(FO)*** requires minimum design specifications without a-priori knowledge of gain and phase crossover frequencies and is done non-iteratively without disrupting the closed *** test processes and experimental analysis on a coupled tank system(CTS)validate the theory proposed.

Rumen methanogens and mitigation of methane emission by anti-methanogenic compounds and substances

Methanogenic archaea reside primarily in the rumen and the lower segments of the intestines of ruminants, where they utilize the reducing equivalents derived from rumen fermentation to reduce carbon dioxide, formic acid, or methylamines to methane（CH_4）. Research on methanogens in the rumen has attracted great interest in the last decade because CH_4 emission from ruminants contributes to global greenhouse gas emission and represents a loss of feed energy. Some DNA-based phylogenetic studies have depicted a diverse and dynamic community of methanogens in the rumen. In the past decade, researchers have focused on elucidating the underpinning that determines and affects the diversity, composition, structure, and dynamics of methanogen community of the rumen. Concurrently, many researchers have attempted to develop and evaluate interventions to mitigate enteric CH_4 emission. Although much work has been done using plant secondary metabolites, other approaches such as using nitrate and 3-nitrooxy propanol have also yielded promising results. Most of these antimethanogenic compounds or substances often show inconsistent results among studies and also lead to adverse effects on feed intake and digestion and other aspects of rumen fermentation when fed at doses high enough to achieve effective mitigation. This review provides a brief overview of the rumen methanogens and then an appraisal of most of the antimethanogenic compounds and substances that have been evaluated both in vitro and in vivo. Knowledge gaps and future research needs are also discussed with a focus on methanogens and methane mitigation.

Auto-tuning of FOPI Controllers for TITO Processes with Experimental Validation

In this paper, the auto-tuning of a fractional order proportional and integral(FOPI) controller is proposed and experimentally validated for two-input two-output(TITO) processes. The proposed method first identifies an unknown TITO plant into fractional order TITO model with time delay. Furthermore, decoupling the TITO process into two fractional order single-input single-output(SISO) transfer function models makes it easier for designing the decentralized FOPI controllers. The proposed control method is a generalization of both integer order and fractional order TITO systems depending on the value of the order of the model. One advantage of this method is the non-requirement of a-priori information of gain and phase crossover frequencies of the system while tuning the controllers. The proposed algorithm is validated both by simulation of a class of TITO process models as well as by experimental analysis of a coupled tank system(CTS).

Remediation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon-contaminated soils using microbes and nanoparticles: A review

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon(PAH)pollution is a global concern because of their toxicity to environment and ecosystem,which induces adverse effects on plants,animals,and *** are mainly released from natural and anthropogenic activities,such as incomplete fuel combustion,leakages in oil pipelines,and the extensive use of pesticides;PAH contaminants include petroleum hydrocarbons(PHCs),halogenated hydrocarbons,chlorophenols,and *** using microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi is developing as an effective and promising technique to remediate PAHs from the *** to their remediation efficiency,this method is environmentally friendly and represents a novel approach for reducing the risk of PAHs to human health and the *** may be applied in bioremediation,and will not only induce fewer toxic effects but also reduce the effective overall time and costs *** article provides a summary of the application of nanomaterials,bacteria,and fungi to PAH remediation;we review and briefly discuss the structure,properties,sources,fate,toxicity,and remediation approaches involved in the remediation of PAH-polluted sites.
