The final analysis of the phase 3 Targeted Investigational Treatment Analysis of Novel Anti-androgen(TITAN)trial showed improvement in overall survival(OS)and other efficacy endpoints with apalutamide plus androgen deprivation therapy(ADT)versus ADT alone in patients with metastatic castration-sensitive prostate cancer(mCSPC).As ethnicity and regional differences may affect treatment outcomes in advanced prostate cancer,a post hoc final analysis was conducted to assess the efficacy and safety of apalutamide in the Asian ***-driven endpoints were OS,and time from randomization to initiation of castration resistance,prostate-specific antigen(PSA)progression,and second progression-free survival(PFS2)on first subsequent therapy or *** endpoints were assessed using the Kaplan–Meier method and Cox proportional-hazards models without formal statistical testing and adjustment for *** Asian patients received once-daily apalutamide 240 mg(n=111)or placebo(n=110)plus *** a median follow-up of 42.5 months and despite crossover of 47 placebo recipients to open-label apalutamide,apalutamide reduced the risk of death by 32%(hazard ratio[HR]:0.68;95%confidence interval[CI]:0.42–1.13),risk of castration resistance by 69%(HR:0.31;95%CI:0.21–0.46),PSA progression by 79%(HR:0.21;95%CI:0.13–0.35)and PFS2 by 24%(HR:0.76;95%CI:0.44–1.29)relative to *** outcomes were comparable between subgroups with low-and high-volume disease at *** new safety issues were *** provides valuable clinical benefits to Asian patients with mCSPC,with an efficacy and safety profile consistent with that in the overall patient population.

Design of Computationally Efficient Sharp FIR Filter Utilizing Modified Multistage FRM Technique for Wireless Communications Systems

Modern wireless communications gadgets demand multi-standard communications facilities with least overlap between different input radio channels. A sharp digital filter of extremely narrow transition-width with lower stop band ripples offers alias-free switching among the preferred frequency bands. A computationally competent low pass filter (LPF) structure based on the multistage frequency response masking (FRM) approach is proposed for the design of sharp finite impulse response (FIR) filters which are suitable for wireless communications applications. In comparison of basic FRM with other existing multistage FRM structures, the proposed structure has a narrow transition bandwidth and higher stop band attenuation with significant reduction in terms of the number of computational steps. A design example is incorporated to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed approach. Simulation results establish the improvement of the proposed scheme over other recently published design strategies.

Performance of water-based drilling fluids for deepwater and hydrate reservoirs:Designing and modelling studies

In deepwater drilling,the properties of water-based drilling fluids change remarkably due to low temperature and high pressure,which have a significant effect on lost circulation,wellbore instability and the window between pore pressure and fracturing *** present work investigates the influence of low temperature and high pressure on polymer and nanoparticle(boron nitride(BN))based drilling fluids with an aim to improve their rheological properties and fluid loss *** amplitude and frequency sweep tests were conducted to understand the viscoelastic nature of the *** amplitude sweep tests confirmed the structural stability of the designed fluid within the studied sweep *** study reveals that storage modulus(G')and loss modulus(G")of the samples are enhanced with increasing concentration of BN *** viscoelastic range also increases due to the intermolecular interaction within the structure of the fluid in the presence of the *** the linear viscoelastic range(LVER),all the samples show the dominance of elastic modulus than viscous modulus which delineates the solid-like *** results of rheological tests of drilling fluid containing BN nanoparticles indicate a significant reduction in plastic viscosity(PV),yield point(YP)and apparent viscosity(AV).The rheological studies conducted at different temperatures(from 10℃to-5℃)and pressures(from 7.8 MPa toll MPa)reveal the minimum effect of pressure and temperature on the rheology of samples,which are desirable for their applications in hydrate and deepwater *** filtration loss experiments conducted at 30℃and 0.69 MPa show a large reduction in fluid loss volume(60.6%)and filter cake thickness(90%)for the sample with 0.4 wt%BN nano particles compared to that of the sample without *** filter cake permeability is also in the favourable range with0.008 mD which shows a 94%reduction compared to the sample without nanoparticles.A regres

In this paper,a two-dimensional axisymmetric thermal model using finite element method(FEM)has been established for predicting the temperature distribution pro-file on the work piece during electro discharge machining(EDM)and obtained material removal rate(MRR)from the temperature *** prediction of MRR,the model utilizes some important features *** and shape of the heat source(Gaussian heat distribution),thermal properties of workpiece,amount of heat distribution among the dielectric fluid,workpiece and tool,material flushing efficiency and pulse off/on time,*** software was used for developing the thermal model for the single spark *** this investigation,AISI 304 stainless steel and tungsten carbide was used as workpiece and electrode material,respectively.A comparison study has been carried out for theoretical and experimental MRR for the effect of each process parameter *** voltage,pulse on time and peak *** temperature distribution along the radial and depth direction of the workpiece has been *** model was validated by comparing the theoretical MRR with the experimental MRR and found a good correlation between them.

Enhancement of seal life through carbon composite back-up rings under shock loading conditions in defence applications

The life of Nitrile Butadiene Rubber(NBR) O-ring seal having shore hardness of A70 and A90 under shock loading conditions was investigated by a specially designed pneumo-hydraulic shock test rig. Shock tests have been carried out on bare seals, seal with conventional polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE) back-up rings and seal with newly developed carbon composite back-up rings to study its behaviour under different operating conditions until failure. Experiments were conducted by varying annular gap ranging from 0.3 to 0.5 mm, oil temperature from 30 ℃ to 70 ℃ and rate of pressure rise from 600 to 2400 MPa/s. Significant enhancement in seal life was observed with carbon composite back-up ring at reduced annular clearances compared to seal life with conventional PTFE back-up ring and without back-up rings.

Influence of alumina/MWCNT hybrid nanoparticle additives on tribological properties of lubricants in turning operations

A hybrid lubricant with improved thermal and tribological properties was developed by blending multiwalled carbon nanotubes(MWCNTs) with alumina-based nanoparticles into cutting fluid at fixed volumetric proportions(10:90). The hybrid cutting fluid was prepared in different volumetric concentrations(0.25, 0.75, and 1.25 vol%), and the tribological properties and contact angles were measured using pin-on-disc tribometry and goniometry, respectively. The study showed a reduction in wear and friction coefficient with increasing nanoparticle concentration. The cutting fluid performance was investigated using minimum quantity lubrication(MQL) in the turning of AISI 304 stainless steel. Regression models were developed for measuring the temperature and tool flank wear in terms of cutting speed, feed, depth of the cut, and nanoparticle concentration using response surface methodology. The developed hybrid nanolubricants significantly reduced the tool flank wear and nodal temperature by 11% and 27.36%, respectively, as compared to alumina-based lubricants.

Applications of phototheranostic nanoagents in photodynamic therapy

Nanotherapeutics has an increasing role in the treatment of diseases such as cancer. In photodynamic therapy （PDT） a therapeutically inactive photosensitizer compound is selectively activated by light to produce molecules capable of killing diseased cells and pathogens. A phototheranostic agent can be defined as a single nanoentity with the capabilities for targeted delivery, optical imaging and photodynamic treatment of a disease. Malignant cells, tissue and microbial etiologic agents can be effectively targeted by PDT. Photodynamic therapy is noninvasive, or minimally invasive, and has few side effects as damage to healthy tissue is minimized and the killing effect is localized. Various forms of cancer, acne and other diseases may be treated. The in vivo efficacy of photosensitizers is further improved by attaching them to nanostructures capable of targeting the diseased site. Such photosensitizer-functionalized nanostructures, or nano- therapeutics, allow site-specific delivery of imaging and therapeutic agents for improved phototheranostic performance. This review explores the potential applications of phototheranostic nanostructures in diagnosis and therapy.

Recently, C. Tain and G. Chen introduced a new concept of sequence of time invariant function. In this paper we try to investigate the chaotic behavior of the uniform limit function f ： X →X of a sequence of continuous topologically transitive （in strongly successive way） functions fn ： X →X, where X is a compact interval. Surprisingly, we find that the uniform limit function is chaotic in the sense of Devaney. Lastly, we give an example to show that the denseness property of Devaney＇s definition is lost on the limit function.

Recently, Du has given a new strong definition of chaos by using the shift map. In this paper, we give a proof of the main theorem by constructing a dense uncountable invariant subset of the symbol space E2 containing transitive points in a simpler way with the help of a different metric. We also provide two examples, which support this new definition.
