The codling moth, Cydia pomonella, is one of the most important pests of pome fruits in the world, yet the molecular genetics and the physiology of this insect remain poorly understood. A combined assembly of 8？341 expressed sequence tags was generated from Roche 454 Gs-FLX sequencing of eight tissue-specific cDNA libraries. Putative chemosensory proteins （12） and odorant binding proteins （OBPs）（18） were annotated, which included three putative general OBP （GOBP）, one more than typically reported for other Lepidoptera. To further characterize CpomGOBPs, we cloned cDNA copies of their transcripts and determined their expression patterns in various tissues. Cloning and sequencing of the 698？nt transcript for CpomGOBP1 resulted in the prediction of a 163 amino acid coding region, and subsequent RT-PCR indicated that the transcripts were mainly expressed in antennae and mouthparts. The 1？289 nt （160 amino acid） CpomGOBP2 and the novel 702 nt （169 amino acid） CpomGOBP3 transcripts are mainly expressed in antennae, mouthparts, and female abdomen tips. These results indicate that next generation sequencing is useful for the identification of novel transcripts of interest, and that codling moth expresses a transcript encoding for a new member of the GOBP subfamily.

This article is devoted to a newly introduced numerical method for time-fractional dispersive partial differential equation in a multidimensional *** time-fractional dispersive partial differential equation plays a great role in solving the problems arising in ocean science and *** numerical technique comprises of sumudu transform,homotopy perturbation scheme and He’s polynomial,namely homotopy perturbation sumudu transform method(HPsTM)is efficiently used to examine time-fractional dispersive partial differential equation of third order in multi-dimensional *** approximate analytic solution of the time-fractional dispersive partial differential equation of third-order in multi-dimensional space obtained by HPsTM is compared with exact solution as well as the solution obtained by using Adomain decomposition *** results derived with the aid of two techniques are in a good agreement and consequently these techniques may be considered as an alternative and efficient approach for solving fractional partial differential *** test problems are experimented to confirm the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed methods.

Paratransgenesis targeting the gut protozoa is being developed as an alternative method for the control of the Formosan subterranean termite （FsT）. This method involves killing the cellulose-digesting gut protozoa using a previously developed antiprotozoal peptide consisting of a target specific ligand coupled to an antimicrobial peptide （Hecate）. In the future, we intend to genetically engineer termite gut bacteria as ＂Trojan Horses＂ to express and spread ligand-Hecate in the termite colony. The aim of this study was to assess the usefulness of bacteria strains isolated from the gut of F sT as ＂Trojan Horses.＂ We isolated 135 bacteria from the guts of workers from 3 termite colonies. sequencing of the 16s rRNA gene identified 20 species. We tested 5 bacteria species that were previously described as part of the termite gut community for their tolerance against Hecate and ligand- Hecate. Results showed that the minimum concentration required to inhibit bacteria growth was always higher than the concentration required to kill the gut protozoa. Out of the 5 bacteria tested, we engineered Trabulsiella odontotermitis, a termite specific bacterium, to express green fluorescent protein as a proof of concept that the bacteria can be engineered to express foreign proteins. Engineered T. odontotermitis was fed to FsT to study if the bacteria are ingested. This feeding experiment confirmed that engineered T. odontotermitis is ingested by termites and can survive in the gut for at least 48 h. Here we report that T. odontotermitis is a suitable delivery and expression system for paratransgenesis in a termite species.

The total number of infections(epidemic size),and the time needed for the infection to die out(epidemic duration),represent two of the main indicators for the measuring gravity of infectious disease epidemics in humans.A few attempts have been made to address the problem of controlling both the epidemic size and duration simultaneously from a theoretical point of view,by primarily using the Optimal control *** this study,a multi-objective optimal control problem has been simulated to gauge the success of the lockdowns in *** accomplish this objective,a system dynamics modeling was used to simulate the susceptible–Infected–Quarantined–Removed epidemic model.A set of sensitivity experiments for different scenarios allows illustrating the model’s behavior and its value for decision-makers regarding the lockdown *** simulation of the model presents various scenarios,wherein the cost–benefit analysis of lockdown was ***,the lockdown success intensity was defined,post which,the findings indicate that the states of Uttar Pradesh,Kerala,Panjab,Jammu,Kashmir,Haryana,and Bihar have achieved more than 90%lockdown success ***,it was observed that these states could effectively implement lockdowns by strictly enforcing social distancing measures during the early stages of the virus spread,which in turn resulted in the high success rate of lockdowns.

Pancreatic cancer is the fourth most common cause of cancer death in the United states. surgery remains the only curative option; however only 20% of the patients have resectable disease at the time of initialpresentation. The definition of borderline resectable pancreatic cancer is not uniform but generally denotes to regional vessel involvement that makes it unlikely to have negative surgical margins. The accurate staging of pancreatic cancer requires triple phase computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging of the pancreas. Management of patients with borderline resectable pancreatic cancer remains unclear. The data for treatment of these patients is primarily derived from retrospective single institution experience. The prospective trials have been plagued by small numbers and poor accrual. Neoadjuvant therapy is recommended and typically consists of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. The chemotherapeutic regimens continue to evolve along with type and dose of radiation therapy. Gemcitabine or 5-fluorouracil based chemotherapeutic combinations are administered. The type and dose of radiation vary among different institutions. With neoadjuvant treatment, approximately 50% of the patients are able to undergo surgical resections with negative margins obtained in greater than 80% of the patients. Newer trials are attempting to standardize the definition of borderline resectable pancreatic cancer and treatment regimens. In this review, we outline the definition, imaging requirements and management of patients with borderline resectable pancreatic cancer.

Arsenic （As）, a potentially toxic metalloid released in the soil environment as a result of natural as well as anthropogenic processes, is subsequently taken up by crop plants. In rice grains, As has been reported in Asia, North America and Europe, suggesting a future threat to food security and crop production. As3＋ by dint of its availability, mobility and phytotoxicity, is the most harmful species of As for the rice crop. specific transporters mediate the transport of different species of As from roots to the aboveground parts of the plant body. Accumulation of As leads to toxic reactions in plants, affecting its growth and productivity. Increase in As uptake leads to oxidative stress and production of antioxidants to counteract this stress. Cultivars tolerant to As stress are efficient in antioxidant metabolism compared to sensitive ones. Iron and selenium are found to have ameliorating effect on the oxidative stress caused by As. Microbes, even many indigenous ones, in the plant rhizosphere are also capable of utilizing As in their metabolism, both independently and in association. some of these microbes impart tolerance to As-stress in plants grown in As contaminated sites.
