MicroRNA: a new and promising potential biomarker for diagnosis and prognosis of ovarian cancer

Epithelial ovarian cancer(EOC) is the leading cause of death among all gynecological malignancies. Despite the technological and medical advances over the past four decades, such as the development of several biological markers(mRNA and proteins biomarkers), the mortality rate of ovarian cancer remains a challenge because of its late diagnosis, which is specifically attributed to low specificities and sensitivities. Under this compulsive scenario, recent advances in expression biology have shifted in identifying and developing specific and sensitive biomarkers, such as micro RNAs(miRNAs) for cancer diagnosis and prognosis. MiRNAs are a novel class of small non-coding RNAs that deregulate gene expression at the posttranscriptional level, either by translational repression or by mRNA degradation. These mechanisms may be involved in a complex cascade of cellular events associated with the pathophysiology of many types of cancer. MiRNAs are easily detectable in tissue and blood samples of cancer patients. Therefore, miRNAs hold good promise as potential biomarkers in ovarian cancer. In this review, we attempted to provide a comprehensive profile of key miRNAs involved in ovarian carcinoma to establish mi RNAs as more reliable non-invasive clinical biomarkers for early detection of ovarian cancer compared with protein and DNA biomarkers.

The application of extracellular vesicles,particularly exosomes(EXs),is rapidly expanding in the field of medicine,owing to their remarkable properties as natural carriers of biological *** study investigates utilization of exosomes derived from stromal cells of tumor adjacent normal tissues(NAF-EXs)for personalized medicine,which can be derived at the time of diagnosis by endoscopic ***,we show that exosomes(EXs)derived from NAFs demonstrate differential bio-physical characteristics,efficient cellular internalization,drug loading efficiency,pancreatic tumor targeting and delivery of ***-derived EXs(NAF-EXs)were used for loading ormeloxifene(ORM),a potent anti-cancer and desmoplasia inhibitor as a model *** found that ORM maintains normal fibroblast cell phenotype and renders them incompatible to be triggered for a CAF-like phenotype,which may be due to regulation of Ca^(2+) influx in fibroblast ***-EXs-ORM effectively blocked oncogenic signaling pathways involved in desmoplasia and epithelial mesenchymal transition(EMT)and repressed tumor growth in xenograft mouse *** conclusion,our data suggests preferential tropism of NAF-EXs for PDAC tumors,thus imply feasibility of developing a novel personalized medicine for PDAC patients using autologous NAF-EXs for improved therapeutic outcome of anti-cancer ***,it provides the opportunity of utilizing this biological scaffold for effective therapeutics in combination with standard therapeutic regimen.

Copper oxide nanoparticles are an integral part of modern agrochemical industries,such as pesticides and nano *** has been extensively reviewed and reported that the interaction of nanoparticles with plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria(PGPRs)may be toxic due to their accumulation in the soil and may remain in contact for a long time which causes a negative impact on the soil microbial *** study presented here,investigates the impact of the copper oxide nanoparticles on the isolated PGPR species Bacillius megaterium AGNTL MM7 in invitro *** observed that the formation of Reactive Oxygen Species(ROS)at¼of Minimum Inhibitory Concentrations(MIC)of CuO nanoparticles resulted in a decrease in the Indole Acetic Acid(IAA)production(83.02μg/ml)as the marker of the nanoparticles mediated stress on the Bacillus megaterium AGNTL *** minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC)assay was observed at 4 mg/*** solubility of CuO nanoparticles was 0.014%and the Nanotracking analyzer estimated the mean average size 188 nm in a liquid medium such as *** Electron Microscopic(TEM)studies observed that the concentration of 1 mg/ml nanoparticles showed a strong affinity with cell envelope and caused a significant negative impact on the microorganism,resulting in 58%inhibition in IAA production was observed in comparison to the control i.e.,197.8μg/*** flow cytometric analysis also significantly validated the toxicity at the same concentration.

Optimizing artificial neural network-based indoor positioning system using genetic algorithm

The Global Positioning System(GPS)is expected to play an integral role in the development of digital earth;however,the GPS cannot provide positioning information in regions where a majority of the population spends their time,that is,in urban and indoor ***,alternate positioning systems that work in indoor and urban environments should be developed to achieve the vision of digital ***-Fi-based positioning systems(WPS)stand out because of the near-ubiquitous presence of the associated infrastructure and signals in indoor *** WPS-based fingerprinting is the most widely adopted technique for position determination,but its accuracy is lower than that of techniques such as time of arrival and angle of *** the accuracy is still a challenging task because of the complex nature of the propagation of Wi-Fi ***,a novel server-based,genetic-algorithm-optimized,cascading artificial neural network-based positioning model is *** model is tested in 2D and 3D indoor environments under varying *** model is thoroughly investigated on a real Wi-Fi network,and its accuracy is found to be better than that of other well-known techniques.A mean accuracy of 1.9 m is achieved with 87%of the distance error within the range of 0-3 m.

Downstaging of advanced hepatocellular carcinoma followed by liver transplantation using immune checkpoint inhibitors:Where do we stand?

Liver transplantation(LT)in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)and chronic liver disease(CLD)is limited by factors such as tumor size,number,portal venous or hepatic venous invasion and extrahepatic *** previously established criteria,such as Milan or UCSF,have been relaxed globally to accommodate more potential recipients with comparable 5-year outcomes,there is still a subset of the population that has advanced HCC with or without portal vein tumor thrombosis without detectable extrahepatic spread who do not qualify or are unable to be downstaged by conventional methods and do not qualify for liver *** checkpoint inhibitors(ICI)such as atezolizumab,pembrolizumab,or nivolumab have given hope to this group of *** completed a comprehensive literature review using PubMed,Google Scholar,reference citation analysis,and *** search utilized keywords such as'liver transplant','HCC','hepatocellular carcinoma','immune checkpoint inhibitors','ICI','atezolizumab',and'nivolumab'.Several case reports have documented successful downstaging of HCC using the atezolizumab/bevacizumab combination prior to LT,with acceptable early outcomes comparable to other *** effects of ICI have also been reported during the perioperative *** such cases,a 1.5-month interval between ICI therapy and LT has been ***,the results of downstaging using combination immunotherapy were encouraging and *** reports suggested a potential ray of hope for patients with CLD and advanced HCC,especially those with multifocal HCC or branch portal venous tumor ***,prospective studies and further experience will reveal the optimal dosage,duration,and timing prior to LT and evaluate both short-and long-term outcomes in terms of rejection,infection,recurrence rates,and survival.

One-Pot Green Synthesis of 1, 4-Dihydropyridine Derivatives Using Polyindole TiO2 Nanocatalyst by Solvent Free Method

This study used a Polyindole in combination with TiO2 nanocatalyst as an efficient heterogeneous catalyst to carry out a multi-component Hantzsch reaction involving different aromatic aldehydes with methyl acetoacetate, and aqueous ammonium to create 1,4-dihydropyridine derivatives under solvent free condition at ambient temperature. A broad range of aldehydes and methyl acetoacetates, ranging from heteroaromatic to polyaromatic one, with high level of functional group tolerance can be used to provide the desired products possessing relevant medicinal moiety in high yields. This technology has prospective advantages over current protocols, including the utilization of a cheap, stable, recyclable, and safe catalyst, quicker reaction times with higher yields and simple product isolation.

An Artificial Neural Network-Based Snow Cover Predictive Modeling in the Higher Himalayas

With trends indicating increase in temperature and decrease in winter precipitation, a significant negative trend in snow-covered areas has been identified in the last decade in the Himalayas. This requires a quantitative analysis of the snow cover in the higher Himalayas. In this study, a nonlinear autoregressive exogenous model, an artificial neural network （ANN）, was deployed to predict the snow cover in the kaligandaki river basin for the next 30 years. Observed climatic data, and snow covered area was used to train and test the model that captures the gross features of snow under the current climate scenario. The range of the likely effects of climate change on seasonal snow was assessed in the Himalayas using downscaled temperature and precipitation change projection from - HadCM3, a global circulation model to project future climate scenario, under the AIB emission scenario, which describes a future world of very rapid economic growth with balance use between fossil and non-fossil energy sources. The results show that there is a reduction of 9% to 46% of snow cover in different elevation zones during the considered time period, i.e., 2Oll to 2040. The 4700 m to 52oo m elevation zone is the most affected area and the area higher than 5200 m is the least affected. Overall, however, it is clear from the analysis that seasonal snow in the kaligandaki basin is likely to be subject to substantialchanges due to the impact of climate change.
