The oldest Asian record of alpheid shrimps,assigned to genus Alpheus,based on snapping claw fingertips from the Miocene Khari Nadi Formation in the Kutch Basin,western India reported herein,extends the fossil record of the family Alpheidae from Asia by~22 million *** early Miocene(Aquitanian)age is estimated based on the associated assemblage of calcareous nannofossils,Sphenolithus disbelemnos,Cyclicargolithus floridanus,and Reticulofenestra *** co-occurring microbiota includes bony fish otolith remains,identified as“genus Gobiidarum”,isolated teeth of Dasyatis rays,Sphyrna sharks,and teleosts,ctenoid and placoid scales,ostracods,belonging to the genera Paractinocythereis,Alocopocythere,Ruggieria,Aglaiocypris,Bairdoppilata,and echinoid *** together,the microfossil assemblage and data from chemical analyses using Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy,X-Ray Diffraction and Wavelength Dispersive X-Ray Fluorescence of host and associated lithologies suggests prevalence of a shallow(neritic)to coastal marine(intertidal)depositional *** present investigation also provides the oldest fossil evidence on the co-occurrence of Alpheus and gobiids(based on otoliths)that strongly advocates that the mutualistic association between these animal groups had developed by the Aquitanian.

Jet modification in absence of QGP-medium:the role of multiparton interactions and color reconnection

Recent studies on high-multiplicity events in small collision systems(proton-proton and proton-lead)have drawn considerable research interest toward the possibility of the formation of partonic medium in such *** of the important consequences of the formation of dense partonic medium is the quenching of high-momentum final-state particles,resulting in several experimental observations such as suppression in nuclear modification factor RAA,modification of jet shape observableρ(r)and jet fragmentation(z^(ch))distributions,*** this work,we studyρ(r)and z^(ch)for inclusive charged-particle jets in proton-proton(pp)collisions at√s=13 TeV using the PYTHIA 8 Monash 2013 Monte Carlo *** show that the color reconnection(CR)and multiparton interaction(MPI)mechanisms in PYTHIA 8 can lead to an increased rate of jet *** also find that the mechanisms of MPI and CR and change in the gluonic contribution in high-multiplicity events result in significant modification ofρ(r)and z^(ch)compared to those in minimum bias events for 10and gluonic contribution with the amount of modification inρ(r):the larger the number of MPIs and/or gluonic contribution,the larger the amount of modification ofρ(r).

Riemannian geometric approach to optimal binocular rotation,pyramid based interpolation and bio-mimetic pan-tilt movement

Over the past several years,we have been studying the problem of optimally rotating a rigid sphere about its center,where the rotation is actuated by a triplet of external torques acting on the *** control objective is to repeatedly direct a suitable radial vector,called the gaze vector,towards a stationary point target in R^(3).The orientation of the sphere is constrained to lie in a suitable submanifold of SO(3).Historically,the constrained rotational movements were studied by physiologists in the nineteenth century,interested in eye and head *** this paper we revisit the gaze control problem,where two visual sensors,are tasked to simultaneously stare at a point target in the visual *** target position changes discretely and the problem we consider is how to reorient the gaze directions of the sensors,along the optimal pathway of the human eyes,to the new location of the *** is done by first solving an optimal control problem on the human binocular ***,we use these optimal control and show that a pan-tilt system can be controlled to follow the gaze trajectory of the human eye requiring a nonlinear static feedback of the pan and tilt angles and their *** problem formulation uses a new Riemannian geometric description of the orientation *** paper also introduces a new,pyramid based interpolation method,to implement the optimal controller.

We numerically investigate the transport of a passive colloidal particle in a periodic array of planar counterrotating convection rolls,at high Peclet *** is shown that an external bias,oriented parallel to the array,produces a huge excess diffusion peak,in cases where bias and advection drag become *** effect is not restricted to one-dimensional convection geometries,and occurs independently of the array’s boundary conditions.
