Early changes in corneal densitometry after FS-LASIK combined with accelerated corneal cross-linking for correction of high myopia

AIm:To observe the effects of femtosecond laserassisted excimer laser in situ keratomileusis combined with accelerated corneal cross-linking(FS-LASIK Xtra)on corneal densitometry after correcting for high ***:In this prospectively study,130 patients underwent FS-LASIK or FS-LASIK Xtra for high *** right eyes were selected for inclusion in the study,of which 65 cases of 65 eyes in the FS-LASIK group,65 patients with 65 eyes in the FS-LASIK Xtra *** were evaluated for corneal densitometry at 1,3,and 6mo postoperatively using Pentacam Scheimpflug ***:Preoperative differences in corneal densitometry between the FS-LASIK and FS-LASIK Xtra groups in different ranges were not statistically significant(P>0.05).Layer-by-layer analysis revealed statistically significant differences in the anterior(120μm),central,and total layer corneal densitometry between the FS-LASIK and FS-LASIK Xtra groups at 1 and 3mo postoperatively(all Phan that of the FS-LASIK *** of different diameter ranges showed statistically significant differences between the FS-LASIK group and the FS-LASIK Xtra group at 1mo postoperatively in the ranges of 0–2,2–6,and 6–10 mm(both Pmo postoperatively,the FS-LASIK Xtra group is higher than that of the FS-LASIK group in the ranges of 0–2 and 2–6 mm(Pmo postoperatively,there were no statistically significant differences in corneal densitometry between the FS-LASIK group and the FS-LASIK Xtra group in different diameter ranges(all P>0.05).CONCLUSION:There is an increase in internal corneal densitometry during the early postoperative period after FS-LASIK Xtra for correction of high ***,the densitometry values decreased to the level of conventional FS-LASIK at 6mo after surgery,with the most significant changes observed in the superficial central zone.

Statistical Study of the Geoeffectivity of halo Coronal mass Ejections Associated with X-Class Flares during Solar Cycles 23 and 24

By analysing a long series of data (1996-2019), we show that solar cycle 23 was more marked by violent solar flares and coronal mass ejections (CmEs) compared to solar cycle 24. In particular, the halo coronal mass ejections associated with X-class flares appear to be among the most energetic events in solar activity given the size of the flares, the speed of the CmEs and the intense geomagnetic storms they produce. Out of eighty-six (86) X-class halo CmEs, thirty-seven (37) or 43% are highly geoeffective;twenty-four (24) or approximately 28% are moderately geoeffective and twenty-five (25) or 29% are not geoeffective. Over the two solar cycles (1996 to 2019), 71% of storms were geoeffective and 29% were not. For solar cycle 23, about 78% of storms were geoeffective, while for solar cycle 24, about 56% were geoeffective. For the statistical study based on speed, 85 halo CmEs associated with X-class flares were selected because the CmE of 6 December 2006 has no recorded speed value. For both solar cycles, 75.29% of the halo CmEs associated with X-class flares have a speed greater than 1000 km/s. The study showed that 42.18% of halo (X) CmEs with speeds above 1000 km/s could cause intense geomagnetic disturbances. These results show the contribution (in terms of speed) of each class of halo (X) CmEs to the perturbation of the Earth’s magnetic field. Coronal mass ejections then become one of the key indicators of solar activity, especially as they affect the Earth.

The cognition of spatiotemporal tactile stimuli,including fine spatial stimuli and static/dynamic temporal stimuli,is paramount for intelligent robots to feel their surroundings and complete manipulation ***,current tactile sensors have restrictions on simultaneously demonstrating high sensitivity and performing selective responses to static/dynamic stimuli,making it a challenge to effectively cognize spatiotemporal tactile ***,we report a high-sensitive and self-selective humanoid mechanoreceptor(HmR)that can precisely respond to spatiotemporal tactile *** HmR with PDmS/chitosan@CNTs(PDmS:polydimethylsiloxane;CNT:carbon nanotube)graded microstructures and polyurethane hierarchical porous spacer exhibits high sensitivity of 3790.8 kPa^(-1).The HmR demonstrates self-selective responses to static and dynamic stimuli with mono signal through the hybrid of piezoresistive and triboelectric ***,it can respond to spatiotemporal tactile stimuli and generate distinguishable and multi-type characteristic *** the assistance of the convolutional neural network,multiple target objects can be easily identified with a high accuracy of 99.1%.This work shows great potential in object precise identification and dexterous manipulation,which is the basis of intelligent robots and natural human-machine interactions.

Influences of the Fresh Air Volume on the Removal of Cough-Released Droplets in a Passenger Car of a High-Speed Train Using CFD

The spread and removal of pollution sources,namely,cough-released droplets in three different areas(front,middle,and rear areas)of a fully-loaded passenger car in a high-speed train under different fresh air flow volume were studied using computational fluid dynamics(CFD)*** addition,the structure of indoor flow fields was also *** results show that the large eddies are more stable and flow faster in the air supply under mode 2(fresh air volume:2200m3/h)compared to mode 1(fresh air volume:1100m3/h).By analysing the spreading process of droplets sprayed at different locations in the passenger car and with different particle sizes,the removal trends for droplets are found to be similar under the two air supply ***,when increasing the fresh air flow volume,the droplets in the middle and front areas of the passenger car are removed *** the droplets had dispersed for 60s,mode 2 exhibited a removal rate approximately 1%–3%higher than mode 1 for small and medium-sized droplets with diameters of 10 and 50μ*** those in the rear area,the situation is reversed,with mode 1 slightly surpassing mode 2 by 1%–3%.For large droplets with a diameter of 100μm,both modes achieved a removal rate of over 96%in all three regions at the 60 *** results can provide guidance for air supply modes of passenger cars of high-speed trains,thus suppressing the spread of virus-carrying droplets and reducing the risk of viral infection among passengers.

Human monoamine oxidase B(hmAO-B)has emerged as a pivotal therapeutic target for Parkinson's *** to adverse effects and shortage of commercial drugs,there is a need for novel,highly selective,and reversible hmAO-B inhibitors with good blood-brain barrier *** this study,a high-throughput at-line nanofractionation screening platform was established with extracts from Chuanxiong Rhizoma,which resulted in the discovery of 75 active compounds,including phenolic acids,volatile oils,and phthalides,two of which were highly selective novel natural phthalide hmAO-B inhibitors that were potent,selective,reversible and had good blood‒brain *** docking and molecular dynamics simulations elucidated the inhibition ***(IC_(50)=103 nmol/L;SI=645)and neocnidilide(IC_(50)=131 nmol/L;SI=207)demonstrated their excellent potential as hmAO-B *** offset the limitations of deactivating enzymes associated with irreversible hmAO-B inhibitors such as *** SH-SY5Y cell assays,sedanolide(EC_(50)=0.962μmol/L)and neocnidilide(EC_(50)=1.161μmol/L)exhibited significant neuroprotective effects,comparable to the positive drugs rasagiline(EC_(50)=0.896μmol/L)and safinamide(EC_(50)=1.079μmol/L).These findings underscore the potential of sedanolide as a novel natural hmAO-B inhibitor that warrants further development as a promising drug candidate.

Flexible multilayer mEmS coils and their application in energy harvesters

Electromagnetic vibration energy harvesters are promising for the power supply of wireless sensor nodes,small electronic devices,and wearable *** electromagnetic harvesters usually increase output by increasing the size of coils and magnets,limiting the improvement of energy conversion efficiency and power *** this study,multilayer microelectromechanical system(mEmS)coils were prepared using flexible electronics,and their high integration performance in arbitrary space was utilized to greatly improve the utilization of the space magnetic field by the electromagnetic *** core magnet of the generator was magnetically balanced to achieve levitation,which improved the sensitivity and reduced fatigue damage compared with traditional spring *** wound coils on the top and bottom of the magnet and the flexible coils on the sides worked together to improve the energy efficiency and output of the *** output performance of the device with different number distributions was simulated using mathematical models to obtain the optimal structural *** results show that by introducing flexible multilayer mEmS coils on the side surface of the energy harvester,the open-circuit voltage of the energy generators increased from 7 to 10 V by more than 43%.Flexible multilayer mEmS coils can enhance energy conversion rates and possess compact dimensions,making them suitable for integration onto complex *** the vibration energy harvesting system testing,the maximum peak power of the harvester was 7.1 m W at an acceleration of1 g and a resonant frequency of 11 Hz with a resistor of 3.5 kΩinternal ***,a 470μF capacitor can be charged to 3.5 V within 10 s to drive a hygrothermograph to work for more than 80 s and can supply a light bulb *** strategy shows the great potential of vibration-energy-driven electromagnetic generators for powering small electronics in limited spaces.

Co-occurrence of per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances, heavy metals and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and their composite impacts on microbial consortium in soil: A field study

This is the first study to report the co-occurrence of per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances（PFASs）, heavy metals, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons（PAHs） and their impacts on the native microbial consortium in soil due to the long-term exposure. The PFASs, heavy metals, and PAHs were detected in soil samples collected at 2–6 m below the ground surface at different sampling locations in a steel-making factory. The total concentrations of PFASs varied from 6.55 to 19.79 ng g-1, with perfluorooctane sulfonate（PFOS）, perfluorobutane sulfonate, and 6:2 chlorinated polyfluorinated ether sulfonate（alternative of PFOS） being the predominant PFASs. The concentrations of arsenic, cadmium, and lead were detected in the ranges of 4.40–1 270.00,0.01–8.67, and 18.00–647.00 mg kg-1, respectively, and the concentration of total PAHs was detected in the range of 1.02–131.60 mg kg-1. The long-term exposure to mixed contaminants of PFASs, heavy metals, and PAHs led to lower richness and diversity of microbial communities in soil. The soil bacterial communities were mainly composed of Pseudomonas, norank＿p＿GAL15, Leptothrix, norank＿o＿Rokubacteriales, and Acinetobacter. Correlations between soil environmental factors and microbial communities indicated that cation exchange capacity and total phosphorus were two key factors in shaping the composition of native microbial communities. Furthermore, Arthrobacter, Leptothrix, and Sphingobium were found to be significantly positively correlated with PFAS concentrations, indicating that these genera could tolerate the stress exerted by PFASs, along with the stress imposed due to the presence of heavy metals or/and PAHs.
