Numerical approach for enhanced oil recovery with surfactant flooding

The remained oil in the reservoir after conventional water-flooding processes,forms a dispersed phase in the form of oil drops which is trapped by capillary forces and is almost about 70%of the original oil in the place(OOIP).To reduce oil residual saturation in laboratory experiments and field projects,surfactant flooding is effective via decreasing the interfacial tension mobility ratio between oil and water *** of the role of design variables,like chemical concentrations,partition coefficient and injection rate in different performance quantities,considering a heterogeneous and multiphase oil reservoir is a critical stage for optimal *** demand for oil production from water-flooded reservoirs has caused an increasing interest in surfactant-polymer(SP)and alkali-surfactant-polymer(ASP).Modeling minimizes the risk of high cost of chemicals by improving our insight of *** the present paper,a surfactant compositional flood model for a three-component(water,petroleum and surfactant),two phase(aqueous and oleic)system is studied.A homogeneous,two-dimensional,isothermal reservoir with no free gas or alkali is *** governing equations are in three categories:the continuity equations for the transport of each component,Darcy's equation for the transport of each phase and other auxiliary *** equations are solved by finite-differences using a procedure implicit in pressure and explicit in *** validation of the model is achieved through comparing the modeling results with CMG simulators and BuckleyeLeverett *** results of modeling showed good agreement with CMG results,and the comparison with BuckleyeLeverett theory is explained according to different *** validation of the model,in order to investigate sensitivity analysis,the effects of system variables(partition coefficient,surface tension,oil viscosity and surface injection concentration)and performance variable(cumulative oil recovery)are

The potential of the visible infrared(Vis–IR)(400–1100 nm)transmittance method to assess the internal quality(freshness)of intact chicken egg during storage at a temperature of 30±7C and 25±4%relative humidity was *** hundred chicken egg samples were used for measuring freshness and spectra collection during egg storage(up to 25 days).Two correlation models,firstly between haugh unit(hU)and storage time,and secondly between the yolk coefficient(YC)and storage time,were developed and yielded correlation coefficients(R^2)of 0.86 and 0.96,*** models spanned the period for which egg quality decreased dramatically and are statistically significant(Phe dimensionality of the spectra and extract effective wavelengths,two methods were developed based on principal component analysis(PCA)and a genetic algorithm(GA).The output of PCA and GA were also used comparatively to design an egg quality intelligent *** result of the analyses indicated that identification ratio of GAwith fast Fourier transform(FFT)preprocessing was superior to other methods,and that the quality classification rates of this method for one-day-old eggs are 100%.This study shows that identification of an egg’s freshness using NIR spectroscopy with GA and artificial neural network(ANN)is reliable.

A model-driven approach to semi-structured database design

Recently XML has become a standard for data representation and the preferred method of encoding struc- tured data for exchange over the Internet. Moreover it is fre- quently used as a logical format to store structured and semi- structured data in databases. We propose a model-driven and configurable approach for modeling hierarchical XML data using object role modeling （ORM） as a flat conceptual model. First a non-hierarchical conceptual schema of the problem domain is built using ORM and then different hierarchical views of the conceptual schema or parts of it are specified by the designer using transformation rules. A hierarchical mod- eling notation called h-ORM is proposed to show these hier- archical views and model more complex semi-structured data constructs and constraints. We also propose an algorithm to map hierarchical h-ORM views to XML schema language.

Removal of Reactive Red 198 from aqueous solution by combined method multi-walled carbon nanotubes and zero-valent iron:Equilibrium,kinetics,and thermodynamic

Dyes often include toxic, carcinogenic compounds and are harmful to humans＇ health. Therefore, removal of dyes from textile industw wastewater is essential. The present study aimed to evaluate the efficiency of the combination of zero valent iron （ZVI） powder and multi-walled carbon nanotubes （MWCNTs） in the removal of Reactive Red 198 （RR198） dye from aqueous solution. This applied research was performed in a batch system in the laboratory scale. This study investigated the effect of various factors influencing dye removal, including contact time, ph, adsorbent dose, iron powder dose, initial dye concentration, and temperature. The equilibrium adsorption data were analyzed using three common adsorption models： Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin. Besides, kinetic and thermodynamic parameters were used to establish the adsorption mechanism. The results showed, in ph = 3, contact time = 100 min, ZVI dose = 5000 mg· L- 1, and MWCNTs dose = 600 mg· L- 1 in 100 mg· L- 1 dye concentration, the adsorption efficiency increased to 99.16%. Also, adsorption kinetics was best described by the pseudo-second-order model. Equilibrium data fitted well with the Freundlich isotherm （R2 = 0.99）. The negative values of AGo and the positive value of △h0 （91.76） indicate that the RR198 adsorption process is spontaneous and endothermic. According to the results, the combination of MWCNTs and ZVI was highly efficient in the removal of azo dyes.

Statistical design and kinetic and thermodynamic studies of Ni(Ⅱ) adsorption on bentonite

Experimental determination of gas holdup and volumetric mass transfer coefficient in a jet bubbling reactor

The hydrodynamics and mass transfer characteristics of a lab-scale jet bubbling reactor(JBR)including the gas holdup,volumetric mass transfer coefficient and specific interfacial area were assessed experimentally investigating the influence of temperature,ph and superficial gas *** reactor diameter and height were 11 and 30 cm,*** was equipped with a single sparger,operating at atmospheric pressure,20 and 40℃,and two ph values of 3 and *** height of the liquid was 23 cm,while the superficial gas velocity changed within 0.010-0.040 m·s^(-1)*** were conducted with pure oxygen as the gas phase and saturated lime solution as the liquid *** liquid-side volumetric mass transfer coefficient was determined under unsteady-state oxygen absorption in a saturated lime *** gas holdup was calculated based on the liquid height change,while the specific interfacial area was obtained by a physical method based on the bubble size distribution(BSD)in different superficial gas *** results indicated that at the same temperature but different ph,the gas holdup variation was negligible,while the liquid-side volumetric mass transfer coefficient at the ph value of 6 was higher than that at the ph=*** a constant ph but different temperatures,the gas holdup and the liquid-side volumetric mass transfer coefficients at 40℃were higher than that of the same at 20℃.A reasonable and appropriate estimation of the liquid-side volumetric mass transfer coefficient(kla)in a pilot-scale JBR was provided which can be applied to the design and scale-up of JBRs.

Synthesis and characterization of conducting polyaniline nanocomposites containing ZnO nanorods

Polyaniline (PANI) based nanocomposites filled with ZnO nanorods were prepared by the chemical oxidative method of the aniline in acid medium with ammonium peroxydisulphate (APS) as an oxidant. The composition, morphology and structure of the polymer and the nanocomposites were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), UV-vis spectroscopy and electrical conductivity. The characteristic FTIR peaks of PANI were found to shift to higher or lower wave number in PANI-ZnO composites due to formation of h-bonding. Different amounts of ZnO nanorods were used to verify this effect on the characteristics of the synthesized materials. These observed effects have been attributed to interaction of ZnO nanorods with PANI molecular chains. XRD results revealed that the crystallinity of PANI was more pronounced after addition of nanorods, while the intensity of the peaks increased by addition of ZnO nanorods. Electrical conductivity of the PANI-ZnO nanocomposite film was found to be smaller than that of the PANI film. The decrease of electrical conductivity in PANI-ZnO films as compared to PANI was attributed to the interfaces formed between oxygen of ZnO nanorods and hydrogen of PANI. Also, TGA results showed that the decomposition of the nanocomposite was less than that of pure polyaniline which confirms the successful fabrication of products. These conductive polymers can be used in commercial paints as an additive.

^(14)C-urea breath test in patients undergoing anti-tuberculosis therapy

AIM: Urea breath test (UBT) is a non-invasive diagnostic test for detecting the presence of helicobacter pylori(h pylori).In this study we evaluated the effect of anti-tuberculosis therapy on the results of ***: Patients, with the diagnosis of tuberculosis (TB) who had a positive UBT at the point of starting antiTB therapy, were included. None had a history of peptic ulcer disease or had taken antibiotics, bismuth compounds and/or PPI in the previous month, 14C-UBT was repeated at the end of the second month and the end of treatment period and one month after completion of treatment ***: Thirty-five patients (23 males) were enrolled.14C-UBT was negative in all 35 patients (100%) at the end of the second month and remained negative in 30cases (85.7%) at the end of the treatment course. One month after completion of treatment course, UBT remained negative in 13 patients (37.1%).CONCLUSION: Our report underscores the need for caution while interpreting urea breath test results in patients undergoing anti-TB therapy. Furthermore, the combination of drugs used in this study resulted in h pylori eradication in a minority of patients.
