In this study, neutron and gamma radiation produced during the ITER tokamak operation including the nuclear heating were studied. This is an approach for analyzing the neutron flux by their contributions. The calculations were conducted using Geant4 Monte Carlo method based on the ITER simplified geometry. It was found that for present design of ITER, only 0.1% of neutrons is contributed by photonuclear interaction while, 33% belongs to the (n, xn) reaction. Finally by adding Beryllium element in the coolant leading to the increase in the neutron flux by increasing the rate of (γ, n) reactions was calculated.

Purpose:nosocomial infection is a major threat to the health care system and patient *** the pandemic,new protocols were established in hospitals and communities to protect against the transmission of cOvID-19,which may have changed the incidence of nosocomial *** study was conducted to compare the incidence of nosocomial infection before and after the covID-19 ***:This was a retrospective cohort study performed on trauma patients who were admitted,from May 22,2018 to november 22,2021,to the largest level-1 trauma center in Shiraz,Iran(Shahid Rajaei Trauma Hospital).All the trauma patients over 15 years old admitted during the study time were included in this *** who were declared dead upon arrival were *** were evaluated in 2 periods:before the pandemic(May 22,2018-February 19,2020)and after the pandemic(February 19,2020-november 22,2021).Patients were assessed based on demographic information(age,gender,length of hospital stay,and patient outcome),the occurrence of hospital infection,and the type of *** analysis was done using SPSS version ***:Overall,60,561 patients were admitted,with a mean age of 40 *** infection was diagnosed in 4.00%(n=2423)of all admitted *** incidence rate of post-COVID-19 hospitalacquired infections decreased by 16.28%(pn compared to before the pandemic;in contrast,surgical site infection(pnd urinary tract infection(p=0.043)were responsible for this change,while hospital-acquired pneumonia(p=0.568)and bloodstream infection(p=0.156)were not significantly *** mortality was 1.79%,while 28.52%of all patients with nosocomial infections *** the pandemic,there was a 25.78%increase(pn the overall incidence rate of mortality,which was also observed among patients with nosocomial infections(17.84%).Conclusion:The incidence of nosocomial infection has decreased during the pandemic,possibly due to the

In this work,a comparative study of three frequently employed modification techniques to g-C_(3)n_(4)(Cn)nanosheets for the photocatalytic degradation of metribuzin(MET)under visible-light irradiation has been carried out in *** modification methods were coupling TiO_(2)nanoparticles(TO)as electron acceptors,nano-sized Fe_(2)O_(3)(FO)to construct a Z-scheme nanocomposite,and phosphate(HP)modification to promote O_(2)*** steady-state and transient-state surface photovoltage spectra and transient photoluminescence(PL)spectra confirmed that all the three modification techniques enhanced the charge separation with prolonged lifetimes and presented degradation activities in the order of TO/Cn[FO/Cn[HP/*** TO/Cn nanocomposite showed the highest photocatalytic activity for MET degradation,with a sixfold higher rate than bulk *** chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry and radical trapping experiments indicated that the increased activity was related to the synergetic effect of two radicals(·O^(2-) and ·OH)involved in the photocatalytic degradation pathway,which was different from the·OH radical-dominated pathway of bulk *** work reveals the importance of charge separation and the influence of the radical pathway and provides guidance for the design of high-efficiency photocatalysts.

This paper investigates a simple approach proposed towards performance-based earthquake engineering (PBEE) which has potential applications to the performance-based design (PBD) and performance-based assessment (PBA) fields. The simple method of PBEE encompasses three areas of seismic risk which include seismic hazard, structural analysis, and loss models. The aim of the PBEE process, entitled as FEMA P-58, is to present essential data needed to make a rational decision regarding predicted performance, where various sources of uncertainties are involved. In developing countries, the lack of suitable real ground motions corresponding to site characteristics and seismicity particularly for larger intensities and the scarcity of demands, which makes it hard to identify the seismic capacity of a structure, is the main our motivation of using the FEMA method. In this paper, the method of FEMA P-58 is investigated, in terms of available tools and required data, in such a way that it will be applicable for developing countries which are located in high seismic hazard zones. To achieve this goal, three steel moment-resisting buildings with low and high ductility, and three steel braced-frame buildings are selected as case studies. The mean annual loss is estimated by the available software, Performance Assessment Calculation Tool (PACT). The achieved results, i.e. the loss curves, will provide a simple means by which the engineers can quantify and communicate seismic performance to other stakeholders. In the case study buildings, the braced one has less annual losses in comparison with other investigated cases, and the structure with high ductility can be considered as the next ones. Execution cost of each building should be considered by contractors. Also, seismic fragility curves of structures for various limit states, as well, the corresponding loss models are identified as the most essential data towards application of the investigated PBEE process.

In the study,a kind of CuS nano-particleswith photothermal conversion properties was *** precipitation polymerization method used n-isopropylacrylamide(nIPAAm)and n-vinylpyrrolidone(nVP)as comonomers,and lithium laponite was used as a crosslinking agent to adsorb nano-CuS for preparing a composite microgel P(nIPAAm-co-nVP)/CuS(nnC/CuS)with both photothermal effect and temperature-sensitive *** drug loading release performance were *** experimental results showed that the prepared nano-CuS and nnC/CuS composite microgels had a wide spectral absorption band in the near-infrared region(nIR).Under the conditions of 980 nm(0.51 W/)laser irradiation,the nnC/CuS composite microgels had a good *** temperature rose to 51.9°C within 8 min,the effect of killing HeLa cells was obvious,and it was proportional to the laser irradiation *** drug loading of the composite microgel was 0.15 mg/mg,and the cumulative drug release in the PBS buffer at pH=5.5 was 75%,which was higher than 63%at pH=*** the same time,the photothermal effect can effectively regulate the drug release of the temperature-sensitive drug-loaded *** the drug release stage,the drug release rate of the laser irradiation section was significantly higher than that of the laser irradiation *** addition,the combination of polymer and CuS improved the toxicity to *** cell survival rate of nnC/CuS composite microgel is 90.9%higher than that of CuS(63%).

Monte Carlo Simulation of a Combined-Cycle Power Plant Considering Ambient Temperature Fluctuations

A combined-cycle power plant (CCPP) is broadly utilized in many countries to cover energy demand due to its higher efficiency than other conventional power plants. The performance of a CCPP is highly sensitive to ambient air temperature (AAT) and the generated power varies widely during the year with temperature fluctuations. To have an accurate estimation of power generation, it is necessary to develop a model to predict the average monthly power of a CCPP considering ambient temperature changes. In the present work, the Monte Carlo (MC) method was used to obtain the average generated power of a CCPP. The case study was a combined-cycle power plant in Tehran, Iran. The region’s existing meteorological data shows significant fluctuations in the annual ambient temperature, which severely impact the performance of the mentioned plant, causing a stochastic behavior of the output power. To cope with this stochastic nature, the probability distribution of monthly outdoor temperature for 2020 was determined using the maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) method to specify the range of feasible inputs. Furthermore, the plant was accurately simulated in THERMOFLEX to capture the generated power at different temperatures. The MC method was used to couple the ambient temperature fluctuations to the output power of the plant, modeled by THERMOFLEX. Finally, the mean value of net power for each month and the average output power of the system were obtained. The results indicated that each unit of the system generates 436.3 MW in full load operation. The average deviation of the modeling results from the actual data provided by the power plant was an estimated 3.02%. Thus, it can be concluded that this method helps achieve an estimation of the monthly and annual power of a combined-cycle power plant, which are effective indexes in the economic analysis of the system.
