Purpose： Shoulder dislocation is a common joint dislocation managed by the emergency physicians in the emergency departments. Pre- and post-reduction radiographic examinations have long been the standard practice to confirm the presence of dislocation and the successful reduction. However, shoulder ultrasonography has recently been proposed as an alternative to the radiographic examination. This study aimed to assess the accuracy of ultrasonography in evaluating proper reduction of the dislocated joint. Methods： This was a prospective observational study. All patients with confirmed anterior shoulder dislocation were examined by both ultrasonography and radiography after the attempt for reduction of the dislocated joint. The examiners were blinded to the result of the other imaging modality. Results of the two methods were then compared. Results： Overall, 108 patients with confirmed anterior shoulder dislocation were enrolled in the study. Ninety-one （84.3%） of the patients were males. Mean age of the participants was （30.11 ± 11.41） years. The majority of the patients had a recurrent dislocation. Bedside ultrasonography showed a sensitivity of 53.8% （95% CI： 29.1%-76.8%） and a specificity of 100% （95% CI： 96.1%-100%） in detecting inadequate reductions. The results of ultrasonography had a statistically significant agreement with the results of radiography （Kappa - 0.672, p 〈 0.001）. Conclusion： The results suggest that the sensitivity of post-reduction ultrasound is not sufficient for it to serve as a substitute for radiography.

Objective： Since appropriate and time- table methods in trauma care have an important impact on patients＇ outcome, we evaluated the effect of Advanced Trauma Life Support （ATLS） program on medical interns＇ performance in simulated trauma patient management. Methods： A descriptive and analytical study before and after the training was conducted on 24 randomly se- lected undergraduate medical interns from Imam Reza Hospital in Mashhad, Iran. On the first day, we assessed in- terns＇ clinical knowledge and their practical skill performance in confronting simulated trauma patients. After 2 days of ATLS training, we performed the same study and evaluated their score again on the fourth day. The two findings, pre- and post- ATLS periods, were compared through SPSS version 15.0 software. P values less than 0.05 were considered statistically significant. Results： Our findings showed that interns＇ ability in all the three tasks improved after the training course. On the fourth day after training, there was a statistically significant increase in interns＇ clinical knowledge of ATLS procedures, the sequence of procedures and skill performance in trauma situations （P〈0.001, P=0.016 and P=0.01 respectively）. Conclusion： ATLS course has an important role in increasing clinical knowledge and practical skill performance of trauma care in medical interns.

Dodecyl alcohol(DDA) is a promising solid-liquid phase change material(PCM) due to its favorable latent heat storage(LHS) ***,the leakage issue of PCM in a melted state during the heating period and low thermal conductivity restricts its utilization potential in thermal energy storage(TES) *** the same context,the present work aims to overcome the leakage issue and improve the thermal conductivity of the *** this in mind,a novel leak-proof layered double hydroxide(LDH)/DDA composite PCM is proposed through a solution-based impregnation *** leak-proof impregnation ratio of the DDA impregnated within the cavities of the synthesized Al/Fe-LDH was determined to be 60%.Detailed morphological,physicochemical,and thermal properties of the fabricated composite were studied by scanning electron microscopy(SEM),Fourier transforms infrared(FTIR) spectroscopy,X-ray diffraction(XRD)spectroscopy,differential scanning calorimetry(DSC),thermalgravimetric analysis(TGA),and thermal cycling *** results show that the LDH/DDA composite has a suitable phase change temperature(about 20℃) for passive solar thermal management of building *** composite PCM showed high LHS enthalpy(about136 J/g),good thermal stability,and cycling LHS *** also showed nearly 152% higher thermal conductivity compared to that of pure DDA,ultimately reducing the melting and solidification time of the pure DDA by 44.9% and 45.5%,respectively.

In this study,we initially performed interfacial tension(IFT)tests to investigate the potential of using the Persian Gulf seawater(PGSW)as smart water with diferent concentrations of NaCl,KCl,MgCl_(2),CaCl_(2),and Na_(2)SO_(4).Next,for each salt,at the concentration where IFT was minimum,we conducted contact angle,zeta potential,and micromodel fooding *** results showed that IFT is minimized if NaCl or KCl is removed from PGSW;thus,for solutions lacking NaCl and KCl,the IFT values were obtained at 26.29 and 26.56 mN/m,***,in the case of divalent ions,minimum IFT occurred when the concentration of MgCl_(2),CaCl_(2),and Na_(2)SO_(4) in PGSW ***,a threefold rise in the concentration of Na_(2)SO_(4) further reduced IFT as compared to optimal concentrations of MgCl_(2) or CaCl_(2).It should be mentioned that eliminating NaCl from PGSW resulted in the lowest IFT value compared to adding or removing other *** the removal of NaCl caused the contact angle to decrease from 91.0°to 67.8°relative to PGSW and changed surface wettability to weakly water-wet,eliminating KCl did not considerably change the contact angle,such that it only led to a nine-degree reduction in this angle relative to PGSW and left wettability in the same neutral-wet *** optimal concentrations of MgCl_(2),CaCl_(2),and Na_(2)SO_(4),only an increase in Na_(2)SO_(4) concentration in PGSW could change wettability from neutral-wet to weakly *** solutions with optimal concentrations,the removal of NaCl or KCl caused the rock surface to have slightly higher negative charges,and increasing the concentration of divalent ions led to a small reduction in the negative charge of the *** results of micromodel fooding indicated that NaCl-free PGSW could raise oil recovery by 10.12%relative to ***,when the Na_(2)SO_(4) concentration in PGSW was tripled,the oil recovery increased by 7.34%compared to ***,depending on th

This study presents experimental and numerical investigations on the mechanical properties of ultrahigh-performance concrete(UHPC)reinforced with single and hybrid micro-and macro-steel and polypropylene *** this purpose,a series of cubic,cylindrical,dog-bone,and prismatic beam specimens(total fiber by volume=1%,and 2%)were tested under compressive,tensile,and flexural loadings.A method,namely multi-target digital image correlation(MT-DIC)was used to monitor the displacement and deflection *** obtained experimental data were subsequently used to discuss influential parameters,i.e.,flexural strength,tensile strength,size effect,*** analyses were also carried out using finite element software to account for the sensitivity of different ***,nonlinear regression analyses were conducted to obtain the flexural load-deflection *** results showed that the MT-DIC method was capable of estimating the tensile and flexural responses as well as the location of the crack with high *** addition,the regression analyses showed excellent consistency with the experimental results,with correlation coefficients close to ***,size-effect modeling revealed that modified Bazant theory yielded the best estimation of the size-effect phenomenon compared to other models.

Colloidal gas aphron(CGA)based fluid has become very popular in drilling in the last two decades,as it reduces formation damages *** this study,sugarcane molasses(Mls)was used for the first time as a polymer in CGA-based to investigate its ability to improve the role of aphronized fluid as a drilling *** results showed that increasing the concentration of Mls to 12%(v/v)in CGA-based fluid reduces the drainage rate and increases half-life to 10.6 min,resulting in enhanced stability of the aphronized ***,because of increasing Mls concentration from 1%to 12%(v/v),the yield and the initial gas hold-up decrease to 74%and 299.4 mL,respectively,indicating that the presence of Mls allows less air into the aphron *** the rheological properties were improved in this study,the gel strength did not change ***,the results showed that by increasing the concentration of Mls,the average size of the bubbles decreases,and the particle-size distribution becomes more ***,the API filtration test revealed that the higher the Mls concentration in the aphronized fluid,the lower the fluid loss,and at the Mls concentration of 12%(v/v),the fluid loss was estimated at 19.54 mL.A natural polysaccharide with high molecular weight,Mls can be used as a polymer in CGAbased fluid and,thus,improve its performance.

Effect of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole concentration on sour-corrosion behavior of API X60 pipeline steel:Electrochemical parameters and adsorption mechanism

We investigated the effect of the 2-mercaptobenzothiazole concentration on the sour-corrosion behavior of API X60 pipeline steel in an environment containing H_(2)S at 25°C and in the presence of 0,2.5,5.0,7.5,and 10.0 g/L of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole *** examine this behavior,we conducted open-circuit potential(OCP),potentiodynamic polarization,and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS)*** dispersive spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy were also used to analyze the corrosion *** results of the OCP and potentiodynamic polarization tests revealed that 2-mercaptobenzothiazole reduces the speed of both the anodic and cathodic *** assessment of the Gibbs free energy of the inhibitor(△G_(ads)^(■))indicated that its value was less than-20 kJ·mol^(-1)and greater than-40 k J·mol^(-1).Therefore,the adsorption of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole onto the surface of the API X60 pipeline steel occurs both physically and chemically,the latter of which is particularly *** addition,as the△G_(ads)^(■)dsvalue was negative,we could conclude that the adsorption of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole onto the surface of the pipeline steel occurs *** EIS results indicate that with the increase in the 2-mercaptobenzothiazole inhibitor concentration,the corrosion resistance of API X60 steel *** analysis of the corrosion products revealed that iron sulfide compounds form on the *** summary,the results showed that an increase in the inhibitor concentration results in a decrease in the corrosion rate and an increase in inhibitory ***,we found that the 2-mercaptobenzothiazole adsorption process on the API X60 steel surfaces in an H2 S-containing environment follows the Langmuir adsorption isotherm and occurs spontaneously.

Synthesis of WC powder through microwave heating of WO_3–C mixture

A simple, easy, and low-cost process for the fabrication of tungsten carbide （WC） powder through microwave heating of WO3-C mixtures was developed. Thermodynamic calculations and experimental investigations were carried out for WO3-and W-C systems, and a formation mechanism was proposed. In the results, for the synthesis of WC, the use of over stoichiometric amount of C together with a spe- cially assembled experimental setup （which effectively retains heat in the system） is necessary. The WC powder is successfully obtained by heating WO3：5C mixture for 900 s in a domestic microwave oven.
