Removal of Reactive Red 198 from aqueous solution by combined method multi-walled carbon nanotubes and zero-valent iron:Equilibrium,kinetics,and thermodynamic

Dyes often include toxic, carcinogenic compounds and are harmful to humans＇ health. Therefore, removal of dyes from textile industw wastewater is essential. The present study aimed to evaluate the efficiency of the combination of zero valent iron （ZVI） powder and multi-walled carbon nanotubes （MWCNTs） in the removal of Reactive Red 198 （RR198） dye from aqueous solution. This applied research was performed in a batch system in the laboratory scale. This study investigated the effect of various factors influencing dye removal, including contact time, pH, adsorbent dose, iron powder dose, initial dye concentration, and temperature. The equilibrium adsorption data were analyzed using three common adsorption models： Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin. Besides, kinetic and thermodynamic parameters were used to establish the adsorption mechanism. The results showed, in pH = 3, contact time = 100 min, ZVI dose = 5000 mg· L- 1, and MWCNTs dose = 600 mg· L- 1 in 100 mg· L- 1 dye concentration, the adsorption efficiency increased to 99.16%. Also, adsorption kinetics was best described by the pseudo-second-order model. Equilibrium data fitted well with the Freundlich isotherm （R2 = 0.99）. The negative values of AGo and the positive value of △H0 （91.76） indicate that the RR198 adsorption process is spontaneous and endothermic. According to the results, the combination of MWCNTs and ZVI was highly efficient in the removal of azo dyes.

Water quality and occurrence of water-borne diseases in the Gaza strip are vivid examples for most developing societies. In recent years, the quality and quantity of groundwater, the only source of waters in the Gaza strip, have deteriorated markedly. A general rundown of the infrastructure and water distribution networks, in particular, the spread of cesspools, excessive use of pesticides and fertilizers, and improper treatment and disposal of wastewater remain major contributing factors to the continued deterioration in the water status in the Gaza strip. Without a doubt, the (Israeli)-Palestinian conflict had a clear negative impact on the water sector in the Gaza strip. Apparently, there is a dire need to adopt the WHO’s water safety plan in the management of Gaza’s water supply systems from catchment to consumer’s tap in order to maintain the sustainability and quality of water resources and prevent outbreaks of waterborne diseases. Therefore, this review has been prepared to highlight the overall picture of the water dilemma in the Gaza strip in the last years and in addition, to identify the sources, sorts, levels, and health risks of consequence to microbial contamination of water. The impact of political conflicts on the water sector in the Gaza strip also was reviewed. Furthermore, recommendations were formulated in order to assist and guide future researchers, stakeholders, and policymakers to avoid the more exacerbation of water contamination as well as to protect public health.

Investigating the potential of using acoustic frequency on the degradation of linear alkylbenzen sulfonates from aqueous solution

The effectiveness of using acoustical （sonochemical） reactor for degradation of linear alkylbenzen sulfonate （LAS） from aqueous solution was investigated. LASs are anionic surfactants, found in relatively high amounts in domestic and industrial wastewaters. In this study, experiments on LAS solution were performed using methylene blue active substances （MBAS） method. The effectiveness of acoustical processor reactor for LAS degradation is evaluated with emphasis on the effect of treatment time and initial LAS concentration. Experiments were performed at initial concentrations of 0.2, 0.5, 0.8 and 1.0 mg/L, acoustic frequency of 130 kHz, applied power of 500 W and temperature of 18℃-20℃. At the conditions involved, LAS degradation was found to increase with increasing sonochemical time. In addition, as the concentration increased, the LAS degradation rate decreased in the acoustical processor reactor.

Investigation and evaluation of ultrasound reactor for reduction of fungi from sewage

The objective of the investigation was to study the application of ultrasound reactor technology (USRT) as a disin-fectant for reduction of fungi from sewage effluent. Fungi are carbon heterotrophs that require preformed organic compounds as carbon sources. USRT is an attractive means to improve water quality because of the system simplicity and no production of toxic by-products. An ultrasound reactor produces strong cavitation in aqueous solution causing shock waves and reactive free radicals by the violent collapse of the cavitation bubble. These effects should contribute to the physical disruption of microbial structures and inactivation of organisms. There was significant reduction in fungal growth, with decreased fungal growth with increasing USRT. In this study, ultrasound irradiation at a frequency of 42 kHz was used to expose suspensions of fungi to evaluate the disinfection efficacy of the ultrasound reactor. Also, this study showed that in this system more than 99% reduction of sewage fungi was achieved after 60 min.

Energy-based numerical models for assessment of soil liquefaction

This study presents promising variants of genetic programming （GP）, namely linear genetic programming （LGP） and multi expression programming （MEP） to evaluate the liquefaction resistance of san- dy soils. Generalized LGP and MEP-based relationships were developed between the strain energy density required to trigger liquefaction （capacity energy） and the factors affecting the liquefaction characteristics of sands. The correlations were established based on well established and widely dispersed experimental results obtained from the literature. To verify the applicability of the derived models, they were employed to estimate the capacity energy values of parts of the test results that were not included in the analysis. The external validation of the models was verified using statistical criteria recommended by researchers. Sensitivity and parametric analyses were performed for further verification of the correlations. The results indicate that the proposed correlations are effectively capable of capturing the liquefaction resistance of a number of sandy soils. The developed correlations provide a significantly better prediction performance than the models found in the literature. Furthermore, the best LGP and MEP models perform superior than the optimal traditional GP model. The verification phases confirm the efficiency of the derived correlations for their general application to the assessment of the strain energy at the onset of liquefaction.

New insight into prediction of phase behavior of natural gas hydrate by different cubic equations of state coupled with various mixing rules

Progress in hydrate thermodynamic study necessitates robust and fast models to be incorporated in reservoir simulation softwares. However, numerous models presented in the literature makes selection of the best,proper predictive model a cumbersome task. It is of industrial interest to make use of cubic equations of state(EOS) for modeling hydrate equilibria. In this regard, this study focuses on evaluation of three common EOSs including Peng–Robinson, Soave–Redlich–Kwong and Valderrama–Patel–Teja coupled with van der Waals and Platteeuw theory to predict hydrate P–T equilibrium of a real natural gas sample. Each EOS was accompanied with three mixing rules, including van der Waals(vd W),Avlonitis non-density dependent(ANDD) and general nonquadratic(GNQ). The prediction of cubic EOSs was in sufficient agreement with experimental data and with overall AARD% of less than unity. In addition, PR plus ANDD proved to be the most accurate model in this study for prediction of hydrate equilibria with AARD% of *** was observed that the accuracy of cubic EOSs studied in this paper depends on mixing rule coupled with them,especially at high-pressure conditions. Lastly, the present study does not include any adjustable parameter to be correlated with hydrate phase equilibrium data.

The performance and accuracy of computer vision systems are affected by noise in different *** numerous solutions and algorithms have been presented for dealing with every type of noise,a comprehensive technique that can cover all the diverse noises and mitigate their damaging effects on the performance and precision of various systems is still *** this paper,we have focused on the stability and robustness of one computer vision branch(i.e.,visual object tracking).We have demonstrated that,without imposing a heavy computational load on a model or changing its algorithms,the drop in the performance and accuracy of a system when it is exposed to an unseen noise-laden test dataset can be prevented by simply applying the style transfer technique on the train dataset and training the model with a combination of these and the original untrained *** verify our proposed approach,it is applied on a generic object tracker by using regression *** method’s validity is confirmed by testing it on an exclusive benchmark comprising 50 image sequences,with each sequence containing 15 types of noise at five different intensity *** OPE curves obtained show a 40%increase in the robustness of the proposed object tracker against noise,compared to the other trackers considered.

Chaos detection and control in a typical power system

In this paper, a new chaotic system is introduced. The proposed system is a conventional power network that demonstrates a chaotic behavior under special operating conditions. Some features such as Lyapunov exponents and a strange attractor show the chaotic behavior of the system, which decreases the system performance. Two different controllers are proposed to control the chaotic system. The first one is a nonlinear conventional controller that is simple and easy to construct, but the second one is developed based on the finite time control theory and optimized for faster control. A MATLAB-based simulation verifies the results.

Weak gravitational lensing of quantum perturbed lukewarm black holes and cosmological constant effect

The aim of the paper is to study weak gravitational lensing of quantum （perturbed） and classical lukewarm black holes （QLBHs and CLBHs respectively） in the presence of cosmological parameter A. We apply a numerical method to evaluate the deflection angle of bending light rays, image locations θ of sample sourceβ = π- 4, and corresponding magnifications μ. There are no obtained real values for Einstein ring locations θE（β = 0） for CLBHs but we calculate them for QLBHs. As an experimental test of our calculations, we choose mass M of 60 types of the most massive observed galactic black holes acting as a gravitational lens and study quantum matter field effects on the angle of bending light rays in the presence of cosmological constant effects. We calculate locations of non-relativistic images and corresponding magnifications. Numerical diagrams show that the quantum matter effects cause absolute values of the quantum deflection angle to be reduced with respect to the classical ones. The sign of the quantum deflection angle is changed with respect to the classical values in the presence of the cosmological constant. This means dominance of the anti-gravity counterpart of the cosmological horizon on the angle of bending light rays with respect to absorbing effects of 60 local types of the most massive observed black holes. Variations of the image positions and magnifications are negligible when increasing dimensionless cosmological constant ∈ = 16AM2 /2The deflection angle takes positive （negative） values for CLBHs （QLBHs） and they decrease very fast （slowly） by increasing the closest distance x0 of bending light ray and/or dimensionless cosmological parameter for sample giant black holes with 0.001 〈 ∈ 〈 0.01.
