Identification of climatic and environmental factors associated with incidence of cutaneous leishmaniasis in Central Iran using satellite imagery

Objective:To determine the effect of climatic and environmental factors on the incidence of cutaneous leishmaniasis in Qom province in ***:In this cross-sectional study,the data on cutaneous leishmaniasis incidence were collected from the Disease Control and Prevention Center in Qom *** and environmental data including Normalized Difference Vegetation Index(NDVI),Land Surface Temperature(LST),and soil moisture were extracted using satellite *** of altitude and sunny hours were provided based on shuttle radar topography mission digital elevation model and hemispherical viewshed algorithm,*** associations of climatic and environmental variables with the incidence of the disease were analyzed by Pearson correlation *** Arc GIS 10.3 software was used to determine the geographical distribution of these ***:There were positive correlations between cutaneous leishmaniasis incidence and the two climatic factors:LST and sunny hours per day(P=0.041,P=0.016),and it had weak negative correlations with the digital elevation model(P=0.27),soil moisture(P=0.54),and NDVI(P=0.62).The time delay analysis showed that in one-,two-,and three month periods,the correlations increased with a 95%confidence ***,the correlation with the three-month time delay was positive and relatively strong between the cutaneous leishmaniasis incidence and LST and sunny hours(P=0.027,P=0.02);nevertheless,there were negative correlations between the cutaneous leishmaniasis incidence and the soil moisture(P=0.27)and NDVI(P=0.62).Conclusions:As Qom is located in one of the semi-arid climate zones,topography and solar energy are important factors affecting the incidence of cutaneous leishmaniasis in ***,appropriate disease control programs are recommended.

A GHz chirped amplitude-modulated laser for high-contrast plasma gratings

The generation and control of large amplitude plasma gratings and other plasma structures is of paramount importance for the realization of plasma photonics. Autoresonant excitation of such structures by means of chirped amplitude-modulated lasers has been recently discussed and analyzed theoretically. Here we discuss the parameter space for the realization of such a scheme and describe the laser system that was built towards this goal. We also expand our earlier theoretical study to account for the more realistic case of a moderately focused laser beam, instead of the simplified plane wave approximation.

Experimental investigation into effects of the natural polymer and nanoclay particles on the EOR performance of chemical flooding in carbonate reservoirs

This paper aims to investigate the tragacanth gum potential as a natural polymer combined with natural clay mineral(montmorillonite,kaolinite,and illite)nanoparticles(NPs)to form NP-polymer suspension for enhanced oil recovery(EOR)in carbonate *** gravimetric analysis(TGA)tests were conducted initially in order to evaluate the properties of tragacanth ***,scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and energy-dispersive X-ray(EDX)tests were used to detect the structure of clay *** various scenarios,the effects of natural NPs and polymer on the wettability alteration,interfacial tension(IFT)reduction,viscosity improvement,and oil recovery were investigated through contact angle system,ring method,Anton Paar viscometer,and core flooding tests,*** entire experiment was conducted at 25,50,and 75℃,*** to the experimental results,the clay minerals alone did not have a significant effect on viscosity,but the addition of minerals to the polymer solution leads to the viscosity enhancement remarkably,resulting mobility ratio *** clay NPs,the combination of natural polymer and kaolinite results in increased viscosity at all *** wettability alteration was also observed in the case of natural polymer and illite *** in combination with natural polymer showed an ability in reducing ***,the results of displacement experiments revealed that the combination of natural polymer and kaolinite could be the best option for EOR due to its substantial ability to improve the recovery factor.

Synergistic effect of adsorption and photocatalytic degradation of oilfield-produced water by electrospun photocatalytic fibers of Polystyrene/Nanorod-Graphitic carbon nitride

Graphitic carbon nitride with nanorod structure(Nr-GCN)was synthesized using melamine as a precursor without any other reagents by hydrothermal pretreatment ***,FTIR,SEM,N_(2)adsorption-desorption from BET,UV-Vis DRS spectroscopy,and photoluminescence were used to characterize the prepared ***,the photoelectrochemical behavior of nanoparticles was studied by photocurrent transient response and cyclic voltammetry ***(PS)fibrous mat was fabricated by electrospinning technique and used as a support for the stabilization of the *** performance of the synthesized nanoparticles and photocatalytic fibers(PS/Nr-GCN)was evaluated in oilfield-produced water treatment under visible light *** this process,oil contaminants were adsorbed by hydrophobic polystyrene fibers and simultaneously degraded by *** removal efficiency of chemical oxygen demand(COD)has been obtained 96.6%and 98.4%by Nr-GCN and PS/Nr-GCN,respectively,at the optimum conditions of pH4,photocatalyst dosage 0.5 g/L,COD initial concentration 550 mg/L,and illumination time 150 *** gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy analysis results showed 99.3%removal of total petroleum hydrocarbons using photocatalytic fibers of PS/*** results demonstrated that the GCN has outstanding features like controllable morphology,visible-light-driven,and showing high potential in oily wastewater ***,the synergistic effect of adsorption and photocatalytic degradation is an effective technique in oilfield-produced water treatment.

Ranking academic institutions based on the productivity, impact, and quality of institutional scholars

Purpose The quantitative rankings of over 55,000 institutions and their institutional programs are based on the individual rankings of approximately 30 million scholars determined by their productivity, impact, and ***/methodology/approach The institutional ranking process developed here considers all institutions in all countries and regions, thereby including those that are established, as well as those that are emerging in scholarly prowess. Rankings of individual scholars worldwide are first generated using the recently introduced, fully indexed ScholarGPS database. The rankings of individual scholars are extended here to determine the lifetime and last-five-year Top 20 rankings of academic institutions over all Fields of scholarly endeavor, in 14 individual Fields, in 177 Disciplines, and in approximately 350,000 unique Specialties. Rankings associated with five specific Fields (Medicine, Engineering & Computer Science, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences & Mathematics, and Social Sciences), and in two Disciplines (Chemistry, and Electrical & Computer Engineering) are presented as examples, and changes in the rankings over time are *** For the Fields considered here, the Top 20 institutional rankings in Medicine have undergone the least change (lifetime versus last five years), while the rankings in Engineering & Computer Science have exhibited significant change. Over the past years,many efforts have been accomplished to achieve fast and accurate meta-heuristic algorithms to optimize a variety of real-world *** study presents a new optimization method based on an unusual geological phenomenon in nature,named Geyser inspired Algorithm(GEA).The mathematical modeling of this geological phenomenon is carried out to have a better understanding of the optimization *** efficiency and accuracy of GEA are verified using statistical examination and convergence rate comparison on numerous CEC 2005,CEC 2014,CEC 2017,and real-parameter benchmark ***,GEA has been applied to several real-parameter engineering optimization problems to evaluate its *** addition,to demonstrate the applicability and robustness of GEA,a comprehensive investigation is performed for a fair comparison with other standard optimization *** results demonstrate that GEA is noticeably prosperous in reaching the optimal solutions with a high convergence rate in comparison with other well-known nature-inspired algorithms,including ABC,BBO,PSO,and *** that the source code of the GEA is publicly available at https://***/projects/gea.

Sedimentary facies analysis of a thin-bed-dominated turbidite succession in the Miocene Temburong Formation, Kampung Bebuloh, Labuan Island, Malaysia

Thin-bedded turbidites are important hydrocarbon-bearing reservoirs in many mature fields throughout the world. The type of turbidite depositional setting strongly influences vertical and horizontal continuity of the reservoir. However, distinguishing between lobe and levee associated thin-bedded turbidites remains challenging due to their generally similar facies characteristics. This study aims to contribute some insights to this problem by conducting a detailed bed-scale facies analysis on the Early Miocene Temburong Formation exposed at Kampung Bebuloh, Labuan Island, Malaysia, which may uncover features that can help in differentiating between both depositional types. Six facies are recognized in the Temburong Formation, which are interpreted as low density turbidites (F1-F4), hybrid event beds (F5), and sustained turbidites (F6). Detailed facies and ichnology analysis reveal features which are consistent with a lobe fringe deposit rather than leveeassociated environment interpretation, including tabular bed geometries, presence of hybrid event beds, and the absence of thick-bedded channel-fill sandstones. Five facies associations are identified and interpreted as representing sub-environments within an overall lobe depositional setting. A diverse trace fossil assemblage,comprising the Nereites ichnofacies is consistent with a deep marine environment. Further identification of the Paleodictyon and Nereites sub-ichnofacies indicates a distal turbidite system setting, most likely lobe *** on the thick accumulation of FA2 and FA3 and no distinct observable vertical trend, the Early Miocene Temburong Formation in Labuan is interpreted as turbidites deposited at the fringes of lobe complexes rather than a single lobe fringe. Earlier works into the Temburong Formation in SW Labuan proposed a middle slope to proximal basin floor setting where the thin-bedded intervals were interpreted as potentially representing either levee deposits or the fringes of confine
