Future perspective of focal therapy for localized prostate cancer

Objective:To summarize the recent literature discussing focal therapy for localized prostate ***:A thorough literature review was performed using PubMed to identify recent studies involving focal therapy for the treatment of localized prostate ***:In an effort to decrease the morbidity associated with prostate cancer treatment,many urologists are turning to focal therapy as an alternative treatment *** this approach,the cancer bearing portion of the prostate is targeted while leaving the benign tissue *** magnetic resonance imaging remains the gold standard for visualization during focal therapy,but new imaging modalities such as prostate specific membrane antigen/positron emission tomography and contrast enhanced ultrasound are being ***,several biomarkers,such as prostate cancer antigen 3 and prostate health index,are used in conjunction with imaging to improve risk stratification prior to focal ***,there are several novel technologies such as nanoparticles and transurethral devices that are under investigation for use in focal ***:Focal therapy is proving to be a promising option for the treatment of localized prostate ***,further study is needed to determine the true efficacy of these exciting new technologies.

Drag Optimization of A Planing Vessel Based on the Stability Criteria Limits

One of the important phases of designing a craft is stability analysis and optimization of the drag force in cruise speed. In this research the longitudinal and lateral stability of a planing hull craft (DTMB 62 model 4667-1) is investigated with some semi-empirical formulae and the effects of some important design parameters are investigated on the limit of stability region. Also on the basis of these empirical formulations and by using a genetic algorithm the drag force is optimized in each constant cruise speed with the stability criteria limits at a constant beam or projected area. Aspect ratio, the longitudinal position of the gravity center and deadrise angle are the optimization parameters. The results show that the aspect ratio and the longitudinal position of the gravity center are two important parameters in optimizing the drag force and for this planing vessel the drag force can be reduced by 22%.

Insights into kinetic inhibition effects of MEG,PVP,and L-tyrosine aqueous solutions on natural gas hydrate formation

It is necessary to understand all the prerequisites, which result in gas hydrate formation for safe design and control of a variety of processes in petroleum industry. Thermodynamic hydrate inhibitors (ThIs) are normally used to preclude gas hydrate formation by shifting hydrate stability region to lower temperatures and higher pressures. Sometimes, it is difficult to avoid hydrate formation and hydrates will form anyway. In this situation, kinetic hydrate inhibitors (KhIs) can be used to postpone formation of gas hydrates by retarding hydrate nucleation and growth rate. In this study, two kinetic parameters including natural gas hydrate formation induction time and the rate of gas consumption were experimentally investigated in the presence of monoethylene glycol (MEG), L-tyrosine, and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) at various concentrations in aqueous solutions. Since hydrate formation is a stochastic phenomenon, the repeatability of each kinetic parameter was evaluated several times and the average values for the hydrate formation induction times and the rates of gas consumption are reported. The results indicate that from the view point of hydrate formation induction time, 2 wt% PVP and 20 wt% MEG aqueous solutions have the highest values and are the best choices. It is also interpreted from the results that from the view point of the rate of gas consumption, 20 wt% MEG aqueous solution yields the lowest value and is the best choice. Finally, it is concluded that the combination of PVP and MEG in an aqueous solution has a simultaneous synergistic impact on natural gas hydrate formation induction time and the rate of gas consumption. Furthermore, a semi-empirical model based on chemical kinetic theory is applied to evaluate the hydrate formation induction time data. A good agreement between the experimental and calculated hydrate formation induction time data is observed.

The anisotropic grain size effect on the mechanical response of polycrystals:The role of columnar grain morphology in additively manufactured metals

Prediction of spatial land use changes based on LCM in a GIS environment for Desert Wetlands-A case study: Meighan Wetland,Iran

Meighan Wetland and its surroundings have undergone many changes in recent *** study aims to monitor and predict land use changes using the land change model (LCM) module in the Meighan *** Sat images of years 2000,2007 and 2015 were used to produce digital land use *** images were classified into seven classes including;Salt lake,Agriculture,Rangeland,Manmade,Wastewater,Wetland and Mine *** LCM module in Idrisi GIS software was used to analyze the land use changes for predicting the land uses status in 2015,based on artificial neural network (ANN) and Markov Chain *** ANN was trained with various influencing factors including;distance from road,distance from manmade areas,distance from land changed edge,distance from stream,elevation and *** results indicated that 1663.88 ha of the rangeland cover and 715.68 ha of the salt lake cover have been degraded during the 2000-2015 ***,the wetland,mine,wastewater and manmade degradation are increased to 724 ha,335 ha,37 ha and 270 ha in comparison to initial land ***,the result shows that rangeland and salt lake areas will decrease in the year 2030 compare to 2015,while,wetland,mine and manmade land changes may increase.

New design equations for estimation of ultimate bearing capacity of shallow foundations resting on rock masses

Rock masses are commonly used as the underlying layer of important structures such as bridges, dams and transportation constructions. The success of a foundation design for such structures mainly depends on the accuracy of estimating the bearing capacity of rock beneath them. Several traditional numerical approaches are proposed for the estimation of the bearing capacity of foundations resting on rock masses to avoid performing elaborate and expensive experimental studies. Despite this fact, there still exists a serious need to develop more robust predictive models. This paper proposes new nonlinear prediction models for the ultimate bearing capacity of shallow foundations resting on non-fractured rock masses using a novel evolutionary computational approach, called linear genetic programming. A comprehensive set of rock socket, centrifuge rock socket, plate load and large-scaled footing load test results is used to develop the models. In order to verify the validity of the models, the sensitivity analysis is conducted and discussed. The results indicate that the proposed models accurately characterize the bearing capacity of shallow foundations. The correlation coefficients between the experimental and predicted bearing capacity values are equal to 0.95 and 0.96 for the best LGP models. Moreover, the derived models reach a notably better prediction performance than the traditional equations.

In recent years,the destruction of habitats has reduced the wild goat population in the haftad-Gholleh protected *** wild goat (Capra aegagrus) is known as symbol of biodiversity of Markazi *** a field study conducted between 2007 and 2017,the number of wild goats were surveyed and threat to their habitat were determined as the population and the ecological conditions as well as their movements in the haftad-Gholleh were *** image of year 2018 was used to produce digital land use maps for this *** Quality,Rarity and Risk Assessment was performed with ESM,hQR and hRA *** images were classified into three classes including;Agriculture-livestock,Rangeland,and Residential *** results indicated that 75% of the casualties of the wild goat by Peste des Petits Ruminants disease were from the Chekab Valley and 25% from the Sibak *** 80% of deaths among the population of wild goats were observed in the month of ***,there are two important mountainous and plains habitats in the haftad-Gholleh *** the biggest threats and more devastating stressors in the region were to villagers,agricultural-livestock and roads ***,among the stressors,the agriculture-livestock caused more deaths in the mountainous habitat of the wild ***,there is an urgent need for habitat conservation of the existing population of the wild goat in haftad-Gholleh area.

On U(1) Gauge Theory Transfer-Matrix in Fourier Basis

Analytical approach for predicting local scour downstream of submerged sluice gate with an apron

A new analytical method was evaluated for predicting scour profile downstream of a submerged sluice gate with an apron. The differential equations between bed Shear stress and Scour profile Curvature(SSC model) were utilized to predict the scour profile in both temporal and equilibrium stages. A jet momentum flux was considered as an external source of erosion on a hypothetical particle ring as the boundary between the flow and sediment bed. The scour length and sediment resistance factor were the two unknowns in the governing differential equations. Two solution strategies were introduced to provide a closed-form solution by using the prediction equations of maximum scour depth from the literature and by employing the von K arm an momentum integral equation. The first strategy was used to investigate the effect of jet angle of attack and the angle of the maximum scour slope on the prediction of scour profile. A sensitivity analysis was performed to determine an acceptable range for the maximum scour slope. The shear stress at the location of maximum scour was also estimated using the von K arm an momentum integral equation and the model was modified for erodible curved beds. The modified von K arm an equation was linked with SSC equations to predict the characteristic lengths of scour in temporal and equilibrium stages. Variations in bed shear stress at the location of maximum scour depth decreased non-linearly with time and reached the sediment critical shear stress at equilibrium. Four hydrodynamic regimes were classified to define the temporal variations of bed shear stress. The maximum error for prediction of scour profile with time occurred at the beginning of scour and the proposed model overestimated the maximum scour depth by 34.8% and underestimated the scour length by 7.6%.
