Understanding material structural reaction to light is of utmost importance to advance processing resolution in ultrafast laser volume structuring into the *** thermodynamic pathways are required to quench energy transport in the most rapid manner and to confine the process to nanometer lengths,bypassing optical *** material dynamics under confinement,with in situ access to transient local temperature and density parameters,thus becomes key in understanding the *** report in situ reconstruction of thermodynamic states over the entire matter relaxation path in bulkα-quartz irradiated by ultrafast nondiffractive laser beams using time-resolved qualitative and quantitative optical phase *** dynamics indicate rapid spatially confined crystalline-to-amorphous transition to a hot dense fused silica *** exceeds 20%and the matrix temperature rises to more than 2,000 K in the first *** structural state relaxes in hundreds of *** dispersion and time design of the optical beam to picosecond durations increases the spatial confinement and triggers an extreme nanostructuring process based on nanocavitation that occurs within the amorphizing material,where the low-viscosity phase lowers the mechanical requirements for the *** feature scales of less than a tenth of the optical wavelength are obtained in the *** allows for structural and morphological nanoscale material features under 3D confinement that can engineer optical materials.

The homogeneity of the microstructure and composition are critical in determining the properties of rare earthbarium‐cuprate,single grain bulk superconductors[(rE)BCO].The magnitude of the trapped magnetic field achieveable in these technologically important materials,in particular,is influenced heavily by the size and distribution of(rE)_(2)BaCuO_(x)(rE‐211)flux pinning inclusions in the bulk microstructure,whereas the size and distribution of silver agglomerates present within the bulk superconducting matrix correlate directly with improved mechanical *** careful engineering,these materials have significant potential for application in range of devices related to energy storage,medicine,electro‐magnetic machinery and microelectronic *** of(rE)BCO bulk superconductors typically involves heating a powder compact above its peritectic decomposition temperature followed by slow cooling to facilitate the growth of a single ***(rE)BCO composition has a different peritectic temperature and growth rate,which,therefore,necessitates different requirements in the heating *** fabrication temperature and growth rate,for example,may have an effect on the rE‐211 and silver distribution,which may,in turn,affect the superconducting properties of the resulting single *** this work we compare the distributions of silver and rE‐211 in the single grain microstructures of YBCOAg,GdBCO‐Ag,EuBCO‐Ag and SmBCO‐Ag bulk superconductors using optical microscopy,scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X‐ray *** observe that the distributions are very similar along both the a/b‐axis and c‐axis of these *** suggests that factors other than the maximum temperature used to achieve peritectic decomposition and the rate of single grain growth are particularly influential in determining the properties of the as‐processed samples in the top seeded melt growth *** observation demonstrates there is freedom to us

The magnitude and spatial variability of CO_(2)surface emissions and processes involving CO_(2)released to the atmosphere from the soils are relevant issues in the context of climate *** work evaluated CO_(2)fluxes and^(13)C/^(12)C ratio of vegetation,organic matter,and soil gases from no disturbed soils of Chaco Pampean Plain(Argentina)with different soil properties and environmental conditions(PL and PA units).Soil organic decomposition from individual layers was accompanied byδ^(13)C of total organic carbon(δ^(13)C-TOC)values more enriched to depth.δ^(13)C-TOC values in the upper soil profile~ca.0–15 cm were like the plant community of this area(~−33 to−29‰)whileδ^(13)CTOC varied stronger bellow horizon A,till~−24‰.Bothδ^(13)C-TOC and soilδ^(13)C-CO_(2)were similar(~−24 to 26‰)at deeper horizons(~50–60 cm).Toward the superficial layers,δ^(13)C-TOC andδ^(13)C-CO_(2)showed more differences(till~4‰),due influence of the diffusion *** A layer(~0–20 cm)from both PL and PA units contained the most enrichedδ^(13)C-CO_(2)values(~−15–17‰)because atmospheric CO_(2)permeated the soil air.A simple two-component mixing model between sources(atmosphericδ^(13)C-CO_(2)and soil CO_(2))confirmed that ***,CO_(2)fluxes reflected the biodegradation of C3 plants(source),diffusive transport,and CO_(2)exchange(atmosphere/soil).Soil moisture content appeared as a determining factor in the diffusion process and the magnitude of CO_(2)surface emissions(12–60 g·m^(−2)·d^(−1)).That condition was confirmed by CO_(2)diffusion coefficients estimated by air-filled porosity parameters and soil radon gradient model.

Digital, coding, and programmable metasurfaces have attracted widespread attention in wireless communication fields owing to their distinguished capability in manipulating electromagnetic (EM)waves [1]. Metasurfaces consist of planar subwavelength meta-atoms and are a twodimensional form of metamaterials [2].These engineered surfaces can flexibly control the properties of EM waves, such as magnitude, phase, and polarization. In particular, coding metasurfaces provide a bridge between the digital world and the physical world. Accordingly, modeling and analyzing the coding metasurfaces from the perspective of information theory has become one of the most important research focuses of the scientific community [3,4].

This paper proposes an adaptive method based on fuzzy logic that utilizes data from phasor measurement units(PMUs) to assess and classify generating-side voltage trajectories. The voltage variable and its associated derivatives are used as the input variables of a fuzzy-logic block. In addition, the voltage trajectory is compared with the pre-selected pilot-bus voltage to make a reliable decision about the voltage operational state. Different types of short-term voltage dynamics are considered in the proposed method. The fuzzy membership functions are determined using a systematic method that considers the current situation of the voltage trajectory. Finally, the voltage status is categorized into four classes to determine appropriate remedial actions. The proposed method is validated on a IEEE 73-bus power system in a MATLAB environment.
