The Potential Efficacy of glycyrrhizic Acid and Its Nanostructure Against Brown Rot of Peach fruits

Production of peaches(Prunus persica(L.)Batsch)for both local market and export is increasing each year in *** rot disease,caused by Monilinia laxa and Monilinia fructigena,is considered one of the most important postharvest rots affecting peaches in Egypt and economic losses are *** activity of glycyrrhizic acid nanoparticles(gA-NPs)and glycyrrhizic acid(gA)at 0.2 and 0.4 mmol/L was investigated as a control for both these brown rot pathogens on peach fruits in both in vitro and in vivo *** the in vitro studies,gA-NPs were the most effective as shown by the ability to decrease linear growth of both brown rot pathogens in potato dextrose agar(PDA)amended with 0.4 mmol/L *** of *** exposed to 0.4 mmol/LgA showed mycelial deformations,nodule formation,detachment of the cell wall,shrinkage and inhomogeneous cytoplasmic materials with large *** of *** exposed to 0.4 mmol/LgA-NPs resulted in thinner and distorted hyphae,nodule formation,cell wall thinning,and *** gANPs and gA treatments improved fruit quality by maintaining firmness and total soluble solids(TSS).gA-NPs were more effective in decreasing decay incidence than their bulk *** 0.4 mmol/L gA-NPs completely inhibited the disease on naturally infected peach fruits for both seasons of 2018 and ***,0.4 mmol/L gA-NPs reduced the disease incidence in inoculated fruits by 95(***)and 88%(***)in 2018 season and 96(***)and 85%(***)in 2019 *** conclusion,gA-NPs could enhance the resistance of peaches against brown rot caused by *** and ***.

Novel non-invasive biological predictive index for liver fibrosis in hepatitis C virus genotype 4 patients

AIMTo investigate the diagnostic ability of a non-invasive biological marker to predict liver fibrosis in hepatitis C genotype 4 patients with high accuracy. METHODSA cohort of 332 patients infected with hepatitis C genotype 4 was included in this cross-sectional study. Fasting plasma glucose, insulin, C-peptide, and angiotensin-converting enzyme serum levels were measured. Insulin resistance was mathematically calculated using the homeostasis model of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR). RESULTSFibrosis stages were distributed based on Metavir score as follows: F0 = 43, F1 = 136, F2 = 64, F3 = 45 and F4 = 44. Statistical analysis relied upon reclassification of fibrosis stages into mild fibrosis (F0-F) = 179, moderate fibrosis (F2) = 64, and advanced fibrosis (F3-F4) = 89. Univariate analysis indicated that age, log aspartate amino transaminase, log HOMA-IR and log platelet count were independent predictors of liver fibrosis stage (P CONCLUSIONOur predictive model is easily available and reproducible, and predicted liver fibrosis with acceptable accuracy.

Comparative Toxicity of Neem and Peppermint Oils Nano Formulations against Agrotis ipsilon(Hufn.)Larvae(Lepidoptera:Noctuidae)

Applications of nanotechnology in agriculture will result in the development of efficient and potential approaches towards the management of insect *** toxicity effects of four essential oils peppermint,thyme,camphor and sage oils were tested against the fourth instar larvae of Agrotis ipsilon to select the most effective essential oil to be converted to the nano *** to the results obtained,peppermint oil was the most toxic compound,which has been used in the present investigation compared with neem *** toxicity of bulk and nano-formulations of neem and pepper mint oils were tested against 2nd and 4th instar larvae of *** under laboratory conditions of 25±2°C&65-70%*** humidity The results show that the LC50 value(the concentration used which kill 50%of the tested individuals)of loaded neem or pepper mint were lower(0.62 and 36.47 ppm)compared with neem or pepper mint oil nano-emulsion and bulk neem for the second larval *** different formulations of neem are more potent than in case of peppermint oil,as LC50 and LC90 values were significantly *** same trend was found concerning the 4th larval *** of treated larvae had a detrimental effect on the response to the compounds *** was noticed that the younger larvae were much more sensitive to the prepared compounds compared to the older *** least LC50 value for loaded neem nano-emulsion was 6.68 ppm compared with the highest value for bulk neem oil(16.68 ppm).Also,LC90 values followed the same trend as in case ***,the toxicity of loaded peppermint oil had the most insecticidal activity as expressed by the lowest LC50 value(51.9 ppm)with more insecticidal effect than the bulk(125.43 ppm)or nano-emulsion(85.43 ppm).The present results indicated that these novel systems could be used in integrated pest management program for *** control.
