Arabidopsis U-box E3 ubiquitin ligase PUB11 negatively regulates drought tolerance by degrading the receptor-like protein kinases LRR1 and KIN7

Both plant receptor-like protein kinases(RLKs)and ubiquitin-mediated proteolysis play crucial roles in plant responses to drought stress.However,the mechanism by which E3 ubiquitin ligases modulate RLKs is poorly understood.In this study,we showed that Arabidopsis PLANT U-BOX PROTEIN 11(PUB11),an E3 ubiquitin ligase,negatively regulates abscisic acid(ABA)-mediated drought responses.PUB11 interacts with and ubiquitinates two receptor-like protein kinases,LEUCINE RICH REPEAT PROTEIN 1(LRR1)and KINASE 7(KIN7),and mediates their degradation during plant responses to drought stress in vitro and in vivo.pub11 mutants were more tolerant,whereas Irr1 and kin7 mutants were more sensitive,to drought stress than the wild type.Genetic analyses show that the pub11 Irr1 kin7 triple mutant exhibited similar drought sensitivity as the Irr1 kin7 double mutant,placing PUB11 upstream of the two RLKs.Abscisic acid and drought treatment promoted the accumulation of PUB11,which likely accelerates LRR1 and KIN7 degradation.Together,our results reveal that PUB11 negatively regulates plant responses to drought stress by destabilizing the LRR1 and KIN7 RLKs.

Tailoring the optical and magnetic properties of La-BaM hexaferrites by Ni substitution

We investigate the impact of Ni insertion on the structural,optical,and magnetic properties of Ba_(0.8)La_(0.2)Fe_(12-x)Ni_(x)O_(19)hexaferrites(Ni substituted La-BaM hexaferrites).Samples were prepared using the conventional co-precipitation method and sintered at 1000℃for 4 hours to assist the crystallization process.An analysis of the structure of the samples was carried out using an x-ray diffraction(XRD)spectrometer.The M-type hexagonal structure of all the samples was confirmed using XRD spectra.The lattice parameters a and c were found to be in the ranges of 5.8925±0.001 nm–5.8952±0.001 nm and 23.2123±0.001 nm–23.2219±0.001 nm,respectively.The M-type hexagonal nature of the prepared samples was also indicated by the presence of corresponding FT-IR bands and Raman modes in the FT-IR and Raman spectra,respectively.EDX results confirmed the successful synthesis of the samples according to the required stoichiometric ratio.A UV-vis spectrometer was used to record the absorption spectra of the prepared samples in the wavelength range of 200 nm–1100 nm.The optical energy bandgap of the samples was found to be in the range of 1.21 eV–3.39 eV.The M–H loops of the samples were measured at room temperature at an applied magnetic field range of 0 kOe–60 kOe.A high saturation magnetization of 99.92 emu/g was recorded in the sample with x=0 at a microwave operating frequency of 22.2 GHz.This high value of saturation magnetization is due to the substitution of La3+ions at the spin-up(12k,2a,and 2b)sites.The Ni substitution is proven to be a potential candidate for the tuning of the optical and magnetic parameters of M-type hexaferrites.Therefore,we suggest that the prepared samples are suitable for use in magneto-optic applications.

Correlation between Electrodiagnostic Study and Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Lumbar Radiculopathy Patients in a Tertiary Care Hospital

Background: Involvement of lumbar spinal nerve root, revealed as pain, numbness or weakness in the lower limbs. Typically caused by the compression of nerve at the spine level. Objective: The purpose of the study was to examine the patients with clinically presumed lumbar radiculopathy and find the correlation between their electrodiagnostic study and magnetic resonance imaging. Setting, duration and study type: Retrospective cross-sectional study of one year (January 2019 - February 2020) in Shifa International Hospital Islamabad. Methods: A total of 96 patients with clinically suspected lumbar radiculopathy were included. Chi-square test, international business machines (IBM) SPSS rendition 21.0 was applied on the clinical information, electrodiagnostic study and MRI were coordinated and affectability and particularity were judged. Selected patients were undergone both electrodiagnostic study and magnetic imaging resonance in the selected 1-year span. The study investigated correlation between both diagnostic tools in lumbar radiculopathy patients. Expected outcomes: Anatomical specificity in seen through magnetic resonance imaging while physiological through electrodiagnostic study, which may not correlate in the evaluation of lumbar radiculopathy.

Synthesis, Structural Investigations and Biological Screening of Diorganotin(IV) Complexes Derived from 5,5-Diethyl Sodium Barbital

Some biologically important tin（Ⅳ） complexes derived from 5,5-diethyl sodium barbital have been synthesized and characterized through various analytical and spectroscopic techniques such as IR, ^1H-, ^13C-NMR and ^119mSn mossbauer. On the basis of these spectroscopic techniques, octahedral geometry has been assigned to all the novel compounds. These complexes, soluble in DMSO and DMF, were screened against a wide range of microorganisms. The results proved that the diphenyltin（Ⅳ） and dibutyltin（Ⅳ） complexes exhibit excellent activity against all types of microorganisms, while the rest of the compounds show significant activity that can be used during the biological study.

Characteristic spectral studies and in vitro antifungal activity of some Schiff bases and their organotin (Ⅳ) complexes

The synthesis and in vitro antifungal activity of some Schiff bases and their Sn (Ⅳ) complexes has been tested against plant pathogenic fungi and it is found that they possess excellent fungicidal activity. On the basis of ^1H-, ^13C-,^119Sn NMR-, ^119Sn Mǒssbauer, IR and Elemental analysis the tetrahedral geometry is proposed for the synthesized compounds.

Electrochemical Characterization, Detoxification and Anticancer activity of Didodecyldimethylammonium Bromide

Quaternaryammonium compounds (QACs) are cationic surfactants with broad range applications. They enter into aquatic environment through the discharge of sewage effluents and adversely affect the ecosystem due to toxicity. Modern electrochemical methods have been used for characterization and detoxification of an extensively used QAC, didodecyldimethylammonium bromide (DDAB) in a wide pH range. The diffusion coefficient of DAAB was determined by Randles-Sevcik equation. In acidic conditions the electrochemical reduction of DAAB occurred by two electrons and two protons process. However, in neutral medium the overall reduction of DAAB followed electronation-protonation mechanism involving 3e– and 3H+. Although DDAB is toxic yet it is bestowed with cancer preventing ability. Hence, for getting insights into the under-standing of DAAB anticancer effect, its DNA binding parameters has been evaluated.
