Advancing sandstone reservoir compressibility prediction:A correlation-driven methodology

This study presents a correlation-based approach for predicting the compressibility of sandstone reservoir *** study proposes a matrix of new empirical equations that significantly improve the precision of measuring the pore volume compressibility,with the most optimal fit of results based on a cubic polynomial *** accuracy of the calculations was validated through comparison with actual data using root mean square method,and the suggested correlations significantly enhance the precise prediction of rock compressibility in sandstone *** this study,the source of data collection is consolidated and unconsolidated sandstone from East Asia offshore ***,variations in compressibility with net overburden pressure over the course of the field's lifespan have been *** results demonstrate the application of regression analysis in establishing a network of linkages between independent and dependent *** proposed correlations for consolidated and unconsolidated sandstones offer a remarkable improvement in the accurate calculation of rock compressibility compared to traditional laboratory procedures,with an average error of 2.5%compared to 5-10%for laboratory *** approach of this study offers a cost-effective and time-efficient alternative to remarkedly enhance the overall performance of sandstone reservoirs in the oil and gas industry.

Water Quality Assessment of the River Nile System:An Overview

Objectives The main objective of the present article is to assess and evaluate the characteristics of the Nile water system , and identify the major sources of pollution and its environmental and health consequences. The article is also aimed to highlight the importance of water management via re-use and recycle of treated effluents for industrial purpose and for cultivation of desert land. Method An intensive effort was made by the authors to collect, assess and compile the available data about the River Nile. Physico-chemical analyses were conducted to check the validity of the collected data. For the determination of micro-pollutants, Gas Chromatography (GC) and High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) were used. Heavy metals were also determined to investigate the level of industrial pollution in the river system. Results The available data revealed that the river receives a large quantity of industrial, agriculture and domestic wastewater. it is worth mentioning that the river is still able to recover in virtually all the locations, with very little exception. This is due to the high dilution ratio. The collected data confirmed the presence of high concentrations of chromium and manganese in all sediment samples. The residues of organo-chlorine insecticides were detected in virtually all locations. However, the levels of such residues are usually below the limit set by the WHO for use as drinking water. The most polluted lakes are Lake Maryut and Lake Manzala. Groundwater pollution is closely related to adjacent (polluted) surface waters. High concentrations of nutrients, ***, sulfur, heavy metals, etc. have been observed in the shallow groundwater, largely surpassing WHO standards for drinking water use. Conclusion A regular and continuous monitoring scheme shall be developed for the River Nile system. The environmental law shall be enforced to prohibit the discharge of wastewater (agricultural, domestic or industrial) to River Nile system.

Development of Sulfuric Acid Speleogenetic Deposits within Cavernous Middle Eocene Beds:inference on Hydrocarbon Gas Seepages,Giza Pyramids Plateau,Egypt

Development of sulfuric acid speleogenetic mineral deposits within cavernous middle Eocene beds of the Pyramids plateau is linked to hydrocarbon gas *** work carried out field observations,binocular,polarizing,scanning and transmitted electron microscopy investigation,X-ray diffraction and X-ray fluorescence *** morphological and petrographic features and chemical composition of the studied mineral deposits reveal a hypogene sulfuric acid speleogenesis.A model comprised of the following stages can be used to explain the presence of these features.(1)Ascent of hydrogen sulfide(H_(2)S)gas associated with hydrocarbon seepages from the Cretaceous reservoirs under reducing conditions followed by oxidation to sulfuric acid(H_(2)SO_(4)),(2)descent of carbonic acid(H_(2)CO_(3))-rich solution generated from surface sources,(3)reaction of H_(2)SO_(4)and H_(2)CO_(3)with the calcareous and argillaceous host rocks,(4)formation of H_(2)SO_(4)speleogenetic by-products represented by natroalunite,aluminium-phosphate-sulfate,hydrated halloysite and Fe/Mn oxides within the replacive gypsum,and(5)subsequent stresses due to the formation of nearby stratiform cavities gave rise to the development of fractures/veinlets filled with displacive fibrous satinspar *** study sets the paleokarst features of the Giza Pyramids plateau within a hypogene sulfuric acid karst system developed by the action of groundwater containing H_(2)S,H_(2)SO_(4)and H_(2)CO_(3).

System size dependence in backward relativistic hadron production in pA and AA collisions

Abstract： in this comprehensive study the multiplicity characteristics of the backward emitted relativistic hadron （shower particle） through hadron-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus are overviewed in three dimensions. These dimensions are the projectile size, target size, and energy. To confirm the universality in this production system, wide ranges of system size and energy （Elab～2.1 A up to 200 A GeV） are used. The multiplicity characteristics of this hadron imply a limiting behavior with respect to the projectile size and energy. The target size is the main effective parameter in this production system. The exponential decay shapes is a characteristic feature of the backward shower particle multiplicity distributions. The decay constant changes with the target size to be nearly 2.02, 1.41, and 1.12 for the interactions with CNO, Era, and AgBr nuclei, respectively, irrespective of the projectile size and energy. While the backward production probability and average multiplicity are constants at different projectile sizes and energies, they can be correlated with the target size in power law relations.

Congruence Pairs of Decomposable MS-Algebras

in this paper,the authors first introduce the concept of congruence pairs on the class of decomposable MS-algebras generalizing that for principal MS-algebras(see[13]).They show that every congruence relationθon a decomposable MS-algebra L can be uniquely determined by a congruence pair(θ_(1),θ_(2)),whereθ_(1)is a congruence on the de Morgan subalgebra L^(∞)of L andθ_(2)is a lattice congruence on the sublattice D(L)of *** obtain certain congruence pairs of a decomposable MS-algebra L via central elements of ***,they characterize the permutability of congruences and the strong extensions of decomposable MS-algebras in terms of congruence pairs.

Fractional Optimal Control of Navier-Stokes Equations

in this paper,the non-stationary incompressible fluid flows governed by the Navier-Stokes equations are studied in a bounded *** study focuses on the time-fractional Navier-Stokes equations in the optimal control subject,where the control is distributed within the domain and the time-fractional derivative is proposed as Riemann-Liouville *** addition,the control object is to minimize the quadratic cost *** using the Lax-Milgram lemma with the assistance of the fixed-point theorem,we demonstrate the existence and uniqueness of the weak solution to this ***,for a quadratic cost functional subject to the time-fractional Navier-Stokes equations,we prove the existence and uniqueness of optimal ***,via the variational inequality upon introducing the adjoint linearized system,some inequalities and identities are given to guarantee the first-order necessary optimality conditions.A direct consequence of the results obtained here is that when a→1,the obtained results are valid for the classical optimal control of systems governed by the Navier-Stokes equations.

A(t, m, n)-Group Oriented Secret Sharing Scheme

Basic(t, n)-Secret sharing(SS) schemes share a secret among n shareholders by allocating each a share. The secret can be reconstructed only if at least t shares are available. An adversary without a valid share may obtain the secret when more than t shareholders participate in the secret reconstruction. To address this problem, the paper introduces the notion and gives the formal definition of(t, m, n)-Group oriented secret sharing(GOSS); and proposes a(t, m, n)-GOSS scheme based on Chinese remainder theorem. Without any share verification or user authentication, the scheme uses Randomized components(RC) to bind all participants into a tightly coupled group, and ensures that the secret can be recovered only if all m(m ≥ t) participants in the group have valid shares and release valid RCs honestly. Analysis shows that the proposed scheme can guarantee the security of the secret even though up to m-1 RCs or t-1 shares are available for adversaries. Our scheme does not depend on any assumption of hard problems or one way functions.

Hazardous effects of fried potato chips on the development of retina in albino rats

Objective:To evaluate the hazardous effects of fried potato chips upon the retina of two developmental stages of the albino rats aged 7 and 14 days from ***:Pregnant rats were arranged into two groups:control pregnant rats and consequently their delivered newborns until reaching 7 and 14 days old from parturition and fried potato chips group in which pregnant rats at the 6th day of gestation maintained on diet formed of fried potato chips supplied from the market mixed with standard diet at a concentration of 50%per each till 7 and 14 *** fold integrated approaches were adopted,namely,histological,ultrastructural and proteomic ***:Histological exami.ation of the retina of the experimental offsprings revealed many histopathological changes,including massive degeneration,vacuolization and cell loss in the ganglion cell layer,as well as general reduction in retinal *** the ultrastructural level,the retina of experimental offsprings exhibited number of deformities,including ill differentiated and degenerated nuclear layer,malformed and vacuolated pigment epithelium with vesiculated and fragmented rough endoplasmic reticulum,degenerated outer segment of photoreceptors,as well as swollen choriocapillaris and loss of neuronal *** analysis of retina of the two experimental developmental stages showed variations in the expressed proteins as a result of intoxication which illustrated the adverse toxic effects of fried potato chips upon the ***:it can be concluded that the effect of fried potato chips on the development of retina in rats may be due to the presence of acrylamide or its metabolite.

Plasma ignition threshold disparity between silver nanoparticle-based target and bulk silver target at different laser wavelengths

Plasma ignition threshold of nanoparticle-based and bulk silver targets was measured in air. The plasma was initiated by a Nd:YAG laser at wavelengths of 355, 532, and 1064 nm. The plasma ignition was monitored utilizing the prominent Ag i line at 546.5 nm. Lower ignition thresholds of the nanoparticle-based silver target were estimated at 0.4?±?0.02, 0.34?±?0.04, and 0.27?±?0.035 J cm^(-2) coupled with the different laser wavelengths, respectively. in contrast, the bulk silver target plasma exhibited an order of magnitude higher ignition threshold. A three orders of magnitude enhanced emission intensity from the nano-based target over the bulk target was achieved at lower levels of laser irradiation. A reduction of the thermal diffusion length of the nanosilver was assumed in order to theoretically predict this reduction in the plasma threshold. in addition, the effect of self-reversal on the resonance lines was taken into consideration.
