Daily Lifestyle Habits as Risk Factors for Plaque-Induced Gingivitis and Periodontitis Severity and Grading among Samples of Dental Students at King Khalid University

Objective: To assess daily lifestyle habits as risk factors for plaque-induced gingivitis and periodontitis severity and grading among samples of dental students at King Khalid University. Material and Methods: This study included 150 male participants. They were divided according to the levels into three equal groups: levels 5, 6, and 7 (group I), levels 8, 9, 10 (group II) and levels 11, 12, and interns (group III). This study consisted of questions related to age, gender, educational level, father’s education, mother’s education, home ownership, brushing teeth more than or twice a day, in addition to daily lifestyle habits that were daily smoking, daily use of sugary drinks, and daily use of sugary foods. Some clinical parameters of plaque-induced gingivitis and periodontitis and the percentage of radiographic bone loss were recorded. All data were collected and analyzed using Tukey’s test and Chi-square test. A P-value of less than 0.5 (p Results: One hundred fifty male dental students of different levels in the college of dentistry at King Khalid University participated in the study in three groups (I, II, and III). The mean age of group III is more than that of group II and group I, with highly statistically significant differences (p 30%) were more among the participants in group I than the participants in groups III and II. There was an increase in the percentage of affected participants with stages III and IV of clinical attachment loss (CAL), periodontal pocket depth (PPD), radiographic bone loss (%RBL), tooth mobility, as well as glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) test values (>7%), and the number of cigarettes smoked per day (>10 cigs) in group III more than in group II and I. Conclusion: We conclude that the severity and grading of plaque-induced gingivitis were higher among the participants in group I, while the severity and grading of periodontitis were higher among the participants in group III due to the different impact of their daily lifestyle habits.

The Impact of Severity of Periodontal Bone Loss and the Levels of Glycated Hemoglobin (HbA1c) on the Periodontal Clinical Parameters of the 2017 World Workshop among Type 2 Diabetic Patients in Saudi Arabia

Background: Type-2 diabetic patients (uncontrolled levels of glucose blood) usually have periodontal diseases and alveolar bone loss. Objectives: The present study was designed to clarify the impact of severity of periodontal bone loss and the levels of glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) on the periodontal clinical parameters of the 2017 World Workshop among type 2 diabetic patients in Saudi Arabia (Saudi and non-Saudi). Material and Methods: This study was done on 298 type 2 diabetic patients, selected from the internship clinics, College of Dentistry, King Khalid University, Abha, Saudi Arabia. The selection of patients was dependent on the levels of glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), and they were categorized into controlled (7% HbA1c). All patients were divided according to the severity of periodontal bone loss into three groups, group I: mild periodontal bone loss, group II: moderate periodontal bone loss, and group III: severe periodontal bone loss. Clinical evaluation of periodontal diseases was carried out by clinical parameters according to the 2017 World Workshop. All data were collected and analyzed. A p-value of Results: The severity of periodontal bone loss were determined in controlled type 2 diabetics (7% HbA1c). An increased percentage of patients with severe periodontal bone loss was observed in uncontrolled type 2 diabetics (>7% HbA1c) (42.9%), as compared to controlled type 2 diabetics (7% HbA1c). Extra-Oral Digital Panoramic Radiographic Interpretation and Clinical Findings of Stage IV Periodontitis among Some Samples Concerning Saudi/Non-Saudi Nationality

Background: There are associations between the severity of periodontal diseases and some predisposing factors, such as age, race, and income rate. Therefore, the present study was designed to evaluate the extra-oral digital panoramic radiographic interpretation and clinical findings of stage IV periodontitis among some samples concerning Saudi/non-Saudi nationality. Material and Methods: The study comprised a random sample of 298 residents in Saudi Arabia referred to the internship program clinics at the College of Dentistry, King Khalid University. They were according to the age of participants as follows: youth (15 - 24 years), adults (25 - 64 years), and seniors (65 years and over) within two groups according to nationality (Saudi and non-Saudi). Clinical periodontal examination and radiographic extra oral digital panoramic radiographs were done, and then the periodontal parameters, the percentage of bone loss, and the pattern of bone loss were recorded. The data was collected, and the statistical analysis was performed with ANOVA test, Tukey’s test, Chi-square test, and T-test and considered a P-value at (p Results: The samples included 62 (20%) youth participants with mean of age (21.806 ± 3.390), 182 (57%) adults’ participants with mean age (42.802 ± 9.094), and 54 (23%) seniors participants with a mean age (69.074 ± 6.810). There were highly statistically significant differences in the comparison between the participants’ ages (P 0.05). Conclusion: At the end of this study, we concluded that there are alterations in clinical and radiographic and clinical findings of stage IV periodontitis with the alteration of participants’ ages and nationality.

Malignant melanoma is characterized by both genetic and molecular alterations that activate phosphoinositide 3-kinase(PI3K),and RAS/BRAF *** this work,through diversity-based high-throughput virtual screening we identified a lead molecule that selectively targets PI3K and BRAF^(V600E) *** screening,Molecular dynamics simulation and MMPBSA calculations were ***3K and BRAF^(V600E) kinase inhibition was done.A375 and G-361 cells were used for in vitro cellular analysis to determine antiproliferative effects,annexin V binding,nuclear fragmentation and cell cycle *** screening of small molecules indicates compound CB-006-3 selectively targets PI3KCG(gamma subunit),PI3KCD(delta subunit)and BRAF^(V600E).Molecular dynamics simulation and MMPBSA bases binding free energy calculations predict a stable binding of CB-006-3 to the active sites of PI3K and BRAF^(V600E).The compound effectively inhibited PI3KCG,PI3KCD and BRAF^(V600E)kinases with respective IC50 values of 75.80,160.10 and 70.84 ***-006-3 controlled the proliferation of A375 and G-361 cells with GI50 values of 223.3 and 143.6 nM,respectively.A dose dependent increase in apoptotic cell population and sub G0/G1 phase of cell cycle were also observed with the compound treatment in addition to observed nuclear fragmentation in these ***,CB-006-3 inhibited BRAF^(V600E),PI3KCD and PI3KCG in both melanoma ***,based on the computational modeling and in vitro validations,we propose CB-006-3 as a lead candidate for selectively targeting PI3K and mutant BRAF^(V600E) to inhibit melanoma cell *** experimental validations,including pharmacokinetic evaluations in mouse models will identify the druggability of the proposed lead candidate for further development as a therapeutic agent for treating melanoma.

This paper deals with the Bayesian estimation of Shannon entropy for the generalized inverse exponential *** that the observed samples are taken from the upper record ranked set sampling(URRSS)and upper record values(URV)*** of Bayesian estimators are derived depending on a gamma prior distribution considering the squared error,linear exponential and precautionary loss functions,in addition,we obtain Bayesian credible *** random-walk Metropolis-Hastings algorithm is handled to generate Markov chain Monte Carlo samples from the posterior ***,the behavior of the estimates is examined at various record *** output of the study shows that the entropy Bayesian estimates under URRSS are more convenient than the other estimates under URV in the majority of the ***,the entropy Bayesian estimates perform well as the number of records *** obtained results validate the usefulness and efficiency of the URV *** data is analyzed for more clarifying purposes which validate the theoretical results.

3-Bromopyruvate(3BP) is a new, promising anticancer alkylating agent with several notable functions. In addition to inhibiting key glycolysis enzymes including hexokinase II and lactate dehydrogenase(LDH), 3BP also selectively inhibits mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation, angiogenesis, and energy production in cancer cells. Moreover, 3BP induces hydrogen peroxide generation in cancer cells(oxidative stress effect) and competes with the LDH substrates pyruvate and lactate. There is only one published human clinical study showing that 3BP was effective in treating fibrolamellar hepatocellular carcinoma. LDH is a good measure for tumor evaluation and predicts the outcome of treatment better than the presence of a residual tumor mass. According to the Warburg effect, LDH is responsible for lactate synthesis, which facilitates cancer cell survival, progression, aggressiveness, metastasis, and angiogenesis. Lactate produced through LDH activity fuels aerobic cell populations inside tumors via metabolic symbiosis. In melanoma, the most deadly skin cancer, 3BP induced necrotic cell death in sensitive cells, whereas high glutathione(GSH) content made other melanoma cells resistant to 3BP. Concurrent use of a GSH depletor with 3BP killed resistant melanoma cells. Survival of melanoma patients was inversely associated with high serum LDH levels, which was reported to be highly predictive of melanoma treatment in randomized clinical trials. Here, we report a 28-year-old man presented with stage IV metastatic melanoma affecting the back, left pleura, and lung. The disease caused total destruction of the left lung and a high serum LDH level(4,283 U/L). After ethics committee approval and written patient consent, the patient received 3BP intravenous infusions(1-2.2 mg/kg), but the anticancer effect was minimal as indicated by a high serum LDH level. Evaluating the Performance of Fault-Tolerant S2A vs. In-Loop Controller Models for Ethernet-Based NCS

Two different controller-level fault-tolerant models for Ethernet-based Networked Control Systems (NCSs) are presented in this paper. These models are studied using unmodified Fast and Gigabit Ethernet. The first is an in-loop controller model while the second is a direct Sensor to Actuator (S2A) model. OMNeT++ simulations showed the success of both models in meeting system end-to-end delay and strict zero packet loss (with no over-delayed packets) requirements. It was shown in the literature that the S2A model has a lower end-to-end delay than the in-loop controller model. It will be shown here that, on the one hand, the in-loop fault-tolerant model performs better in terms of less total end-to-end delay than the S2A model in the fault-free situation. While, on the other hand, in the scenario with the failed controller(s), the S2A model was shown to have less total end-to-end delay.
