The gray mold fungus botrytis cinerea is a necrotrophic pathogen that causes diseases in hundreds of plant species,including high-value *** polyxenous nature and pathogenic success are due to its ability to perceive host signals in its *** this study,we found that laticifer cells of Euphorbia lathyris are a source of susceptibility factors required by *** to cause ***,poor-in-latex(pil)mutants,which lack laticifer cells,show full resistance to this pathogen,whereas lot-of-latex mutants,which produce more laticifer cells,are *** S factors are triterpenoid saponins,which are widely distributed natural products of vast structural *** downregulation of laticifer-specific oxydosqualene cyclase genes,which encode the first committed step enzymes for triterpene and,therefore,saponin biosynthesis,conferred disease resistance to ***,the Medicago truncatula Iha-1 mutant,compromised in triterpenoid saponin biosynthesis,showed enhanced ***,the application of different purified triterpenoid saponins pharmacologically complemented the diseaseresistant phenotype ofpil and hla-1 mutants and enhanced disease susceptibility in different plant *** found that triterpenoid saponins function as plant cues that signal transcriptional reprogramming in ***,leading to a change in its growth habit and infection strategy,culminating in the abundant formation of infection cushions,the multicellular appressoria apparatus dedicated to plant penetration and biomass destruction in *** together,these results provide an explanation for how plant triterpenoid saponins function as disease susceptibility factors to promote *** pathogenicity.

Rice ratoon cropping,or the cultivation of tillers that have regrown from existing stem nodes of a harvested crop,is currently a hot topic in agriculture,and record-high ratoon crop yields have been achieved in China(Xu et al.,2021).Although rice ratoon cropping is most appropriate for certain agro-ecosystems with a suitable climate and cropping schedule,it is a promising strategy to simultaneously increase productivity while reducing inputs and *** ratoon cropping may thereby contribute to global food security and agro-ecosystem sustainability.

Dear Editor,Seed germination is a major developmental transition in a plant＇s life that involves the concerted action of several genetic and physiological pathways （Holdsworth et al., 2008）, and mostly consists of the resumption of embryo growth after a long quiescence imposed during seed maturation. In mature seeds, germination is repressed by abscisic acid （AbA）, while favorable environmental conditions promote gibberellin （GA） biosynthesis and decrease AbA （Holdsworth et al., 2008）. The increase in GA levels is essential for the rupture of testa and endosperm （Lee et al., 2002）. The activation of cell division in the embryo is an integral part of germination that precedes the protrusion of the root through the seed coat. In Arabidopsis, this activation has been linked to significant early changes in the expression of cell-cycle elements （Masubelele et al., 2005）. In the root apical meristem （RAM）, GAs regulate cell divisions （Achard et al., 2009; 0beda-Tomás et al., 2009）. Similarly, the transcription factors （TFs） TEOSINTE bRANCHED1/ CYCLOIDEA/PROLIFERATING CELL FACTOR14 （TCP14） and TCP15 have been proposed to regulate cell proliferation （Kieffer et al., 2011）. Moreover, the activity of TCP14 is necessary to undergo seed germination and, remarkably, seeds lacking this activity are hypersensitive to the negative effects on germination of GA biosynthesis inhibitor paclobutrazol, suggesting a functional relationship between this TF and GAs （Tatematsu et al., 2008）. Taking these observations into account, we hypothesized that TCP14 and TCP15 mediate GA-dependent activation of the cell cycle during germination.

With an eye to the workings of collage-in particular its prophetic temporality-I explore the collage practice of the Australian poet bella Li,with a focus on her second book,Lost Lake(2018).Taking my cue from movements of broken or disjunctive association in Li*s work,I seek to mirror Li’s poetic collages with a reading that is itself both exploratory and *** by commenting on the circularity of collage,this article itself becomes a kind of ***'s surrealist practice,layering evocative object(word,image,idea)over evocative object,instigates a chain of *** such sequences’ellipses and associative chains,Li writes poetry as transtemporal collage,as a surrealist dream,and as prophecy of what was and is and is yet to come.

Increasingly countries are seeking to reduce emission of greenhouse gases from the agricultural industries,and livestock production in particular,as part of their climate change *** many reviews update progress in mitigation research,a quantitative assessment of the efficacy and performance-consequences of nutritional strategies to mitigate enteric methane(CH_(4))emissions from ruminants has been lacking.A meta-analysis was conducted based on 108 refereed papers from recent animal studies(2000-2020)to report effects on CH4 production,CH_(4) yield and CH_(4) emission intensity from 8 dietary *** interventions(oils,microalgae,nitrate,ionophores,protozoal control,phytochemicals,essential oils and 3-nitrooxypropanol).Of these,macroalgae and 3-nitrooxypropanol showed greatest efficacy in reducing CH_(4) yield(g CH_(4)/kg of dry matter intake)at the doses *** confidence intervals derived for the mitigation efficacies could be applied to estimate the potential to reduce national livestock emissions through the implementation of these dietary interventions.

Aims Human alterations of the environment are combining in unprecedented ways,making predictions of alterations to natural communities a difficult and pressing *** systems have been subject to a high degree of modification,including increased nitrogen(N)inputs and altered salinity,factors important in shaping estuarine plant *** human populations increase and the climate changes,both N and salinity levels are likely to increase in these coastal *** objective was to evaluate the interactive effects of N and salinity on USWest Coast salt marsh species;in particular,the performance of the dominant species Sarcocornia pacifica(pickleweed)alone and in mixed species *** expected increased salinity to favor *** but that N enrichment could help maintain greater species richness through use of N in salinity tolerance *** We crossed treatments of N(added or not)and salinity(salt added or not)in a field experiment at a salt marsh in the San Francisco Estuary,California,USA,in each of three habitats:(i)monotypic pickleweed on the marsh plain,(ii)monotypic pickleweed along channels and(iii)mixed assemblages along *** a greenhouse experiment,we crossed treatments of N(added or not)and salinity(at three levels to simulate brackish to saline conditions)in(i)pots of pickleweed only and(ii)the same species mix as in the *** Findings Naddition doubled *** biomass and branching in both channel and marsh plain habitats regardless of salinity and greatly increased its dominance over Distichlis spicata and Jaumea carnosa in mixed assemblages along *** the greenhouse,*** biomass increased 6-to 10-fold with N addition over the range of salinities,while *** and *** biomass increased with N addition only at lower salinity ***,while localized management could influence outcomes,expected overall increases in both N and salinity with human population growth and climat
