Synthesis of.coral-like structures of.Pr-Yb co-doped YIG: Structural,optical, magnetic and antimicrobial properties

Coral-like structures of.the Y_(3-x)Pr_(x)f._(5-y)Yb_(y)O_(12),(0.00 ≤ x ≤ 0.04, 0.00 ≤ y ≤ 0.02) compound were synthesized using the sol-gel method. Structural investigation certif.ed the YIG cubic crystal structure f.rmation, without any secondary phase. It is shown that, the relatively large ionic radius of.the dopant cations results in an expansion of.the lattice parameter, variations in the Iona-O-Iondangle, Iona-O,Iond-O and Ionc-O bond distances and decrease in the average crystallite size. f.urier transf.rm inf.ared(f.IR) and Raman measurements are essential to testif. the single-phase f.rmation of.YIG crystal structure and are observed changes in the stretching and vibrational modes, respectively. The morphological study, energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS) spectra and textural properties show corallike structures, peaks associated with Pr^(3+) and Yb^(3+) atoms and the ef.ect of.dopants on surf.ce area,diameter, and pore volume, respectively. The optical analysis f.om dif.use ref.ectance spectra witnessed an increase in the optical gap band, a decrease in Urbach energy and blue shif. in the charge transf.r,correlated with the expansion of.the unit cell due to the dopant's insertion in the YIG structure. A typical f.rrimagnetic behavior is exhibited by the Y_(3-x)Pr_(x)f._(5-y)Yb_(y)O_(12)compound. The saturation magnetization(M_(s)), cubic anisotropy constant(K_(1)) and coercive f.eld(H_(c)) increase with the Pr^(3+)cations content, as consequence of.their magnetic nature and distribution around of.f.^(3+)ions due to the coexistence with the Yb^(3+). f.nally, f.r the f.rst time, antibacterial tests by mean of.the direct contact method were perf.rmed f.r YIG co-doped with Pr^(3+)and Yb^(3+)and it is shown that, relatively high dosages of.Pr^(3+) cations f.vored the activity against S. aureus, theref.re, a new biological property f.r YIG doped with rare earths is presented.

The study aimed to assess the clinical, laboratory, and blood gas analysis of.horses undergoing Marcha training and the ef.ects of.voluntary ingestion of.hydroelectrolytic and energy replenishers af.er exercise. Eight horses of.both genders aged between 5 and 10 years, were included in the study. The exercise consisted of.a 10-min warm-up f.llowed by 45 min uninterrupted Marcha on a f.at dirt track in the morning. Af.er exercise, the horses received one of.the f.llowing treatments: Drinking water (control group);Hydroelectrolytic and energy replenisher containing sodium chloride, potassium chloride, calcium acetate, magnesium chloride, sodium citrate, dextrose, maltodextrin, and sucrose in three dif.erent concentrations (Replenishers A, B, and C). The horses were distributed across the f.ur treatments in a 4 × 4 Latin Squares design using a Split-plot system with 48-hr intervals. Clinical and laboratory evaluations were conducted at f.ur time points: T0 - 5 min bef.re exercise;T1 - up to 5 min af.er exercise;T2 - 2 hr af.er starting treatment;and T4 - 4 hr af.er beginning treatment. Concentrations of.urea, creatinine, lactate, phosphorus, and ionized calcium signif.cantly changed af.er exercise. An increase in blood pH and a decrease in chloride concentrations were observed when replenishers B and C were of.ered af.er exercise. The replacements were ingested spontaneously by the animals in a volume greater than that of.the control group (water). Replacement B was the most ingested by the animals, demonstrating its greatest potential.

Optimizing Nitrogen Use Ef.iciency f.r No-Till Corn Production by Improving Root Growth and Capturing NO_(3)-N in Subsoil

Subsoil acidity restricts root growth and reduces crop yields in many parts of.the world. More than half.of.the f.rtilizer nitrogen(N) applied in crop production is currently lost to the environment. This study aimed to investigate the ef.ect of.gypsum application on the ef.iciency of.N f.rtilizer in no-till corn(Zea mays L.) production in southern Brazil. A f.eld experiment examined the ef.ects of.surf.ce-applied gypsum(0, 5, 10, and 15 Mg ha^(-1)) and top-dressed ammonium nitrate(NH_4NO_3)(60, 120, and 180 kg N ha^(-1)) on corn root length, N uptake, and grain yield. A greenhouse experiment was conducted using undisturbed soil columns collected f.om the f.eld experiment site to evaluate NO_3-N leaching, N uptake, and root length with surf.ce-applied gypsum(0 and 10 Mg ha^(-1)) and top-dressed NH_4NO_3(0 and 180 kg N ha^(-1)). Amelioration of.subsoil acidity due to gypsum application increased corn root growth,N uptake, grain yield, and N use ef.iciency. Applying gypsum to the soil surf.ce increased corn grain yield by 19%–38% and partial f.ctor productivity of.N(Pf.N) by 27%–38%, depending on the N application rate. Results of.the undisturbed soil column greenhouse experiment showed that improvement of.N use ef.iciency by gypsum application was due to the higher N uptake f.om NO_3-N in the subsoil as a result of.increased corn root length. Our results suggest that ameliorating subsoil acidity with gypsum in a no-till corn system could increase N use ef.iciency, improve grain yield, and reduce environmental risks due to NO_3-N leaching.

Af.er liver metastases, Peritoneal Carcinomatosis (PC) is the second most f.equent cause of.death in patients with Colorectal Cancer (CRC), although the precise incidence of.Colorectal Cancer Peritoneal Carcinomatosis is not known, as the majority of.the diagnostic studies cannot detect the disease in its initial stages, nowadays, the diagnosis of.peritoneal carcinomatosis remains a challenge. The molecular biology of.PC is only just beginning to be understood, f.ture knowledge will permit not only identif. novel strategies f.r PC prevention, but also contribute to therapeutic advances, through the development of.molecular targeted therapies. The authors perf.rmed a literature revision about the Molecular Biology, Diagnosis and Management of.Colorectal Cancer Peritoneal carcinomatosis.

Crystallographic and microstructural properties of.Ho(Ni,Co,Mn)O3±dperovskite-type multif.rroic material are *** were synthesized with a modif.ed polymeric precursor *** synchrotron X-ray powder dif.raction(SXRPD)technique associated to Rietveld ref.nement method was used to perf.rm structural *** crystallographic structures,as well as microstructural properties,were studied to determine unit cell parameters and volume,angles and atomic positions,crystallite size and strain.X-ray energies below the absorption edges of.the transition metals helped to determine the mean pref.rred atomic occupancy f.r the substituent ***,analyzing the degree of.distortion of.the polyhedra centered at the transitions metal atoms led to understanding the structural model of.the synthesized phase.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)was perf.rmed to evaluate the valence states of.the elements,and the tolerance f.ctor and oxygen *** obtained results indicated a small decrease distortion in structure,close to the HoMnO3 basis *** addition,the substituent atoms showed the same distribution and,on average,pref.rentially occupied the center of.the unit cell.

Land Sparing (LSP) was proposed to spatially segregate biodiversity and production in order to maximize both, while Land Sharing (LSH) def.nders posit that f.rming and nature integration is pref.rable, through eco-agriculture and low-input systems. Based on a multidisciplinary review on historical land-use data, ecological aspects, agricultural production potential, economic and f.od security topics, we summarize LSP/LSH major f.ndings and caveats. Although LSH still has to address some issues, LSP relies on a series of.assumptions that are not supported by data, particularly regarding the positive ef.ects of.intensif.cation on agriculture expansion. f.rthermore, we developed conceptual models to theoretically predict the responses of.biodiversity and ecosystems services in dynamic landscapes with dif.erent natural habitat proportions and dif.erent intensif.cation levels on the f.rmed areas. Agriculture intensif.cation may expand f.rmland reducing habitat area f.stering population declines at the “natural” patches (via habitat reduction and decreasing species intra patch f.ux through the matrix), as well as at the f.rm site by direct ef.ect of.intensif.cation (heterogeneity reduction and pesticide use), leading to a species extinction and ecosystems services loss. This multiple negative ef.ect of.agriculture intensif.cation is worsening in regions where habitat proportion is below 30%, such as in many tropical biodiversity hotspots, making LSH a much saf.r strategy f.r conservation and f.od security.

Santos Basin contains the major hub of.oil and gas exploration in Brazil. Consequently, knowledge of.ocean surf.ce winds in this area is very important f.r operational and planning activities. In addition, the importance of.renewable energies is nowadays unquestionable, specif.cally in the case of.the wind energy. In this paper, a data clustering technique is applied in order to obtain representative local wind patterns in Santos Basin. Reanalysis data f.om the National Centers f.r Environmental Prediction (NCEP) and National Center f.r Atmospheric Research (NCAR) have been used in this study.

Species f.om Moraceae f.mily stand out in popular medicine and phytotherapy, have been f.r example used as expectorants, bronchodilators, anthelmintics and treatment of.skin diseases, such as vitiligo, due to the presence of.compounds with proven biological activity, as the coumarins. Coumarins are lactones with 1,2-benzopyrone basic structure, and are widely distributed in the plant kingdom, both in f.ee f.rm, and in glycosylated f.rm. This work reports a literature review, describing the data of.13C NMR f.om 53 coumarins isolated f.om the f.mily Moraceae, and data comparison between genera who presented photochemical studies, in order to contribute to the chemotaxonomy of.this f.mily.
