Evaluating soil erosion and runoff dynamics in a humid subtropic, low stream order, southern plains watershed from cultivation and solar farm development

Much work has been done to understand and improve soil and water conservation where agriculture has driven land use *** is known about soil-and water-related impacts from intensification driven by solar farming,especially at *** we employed Hydrologic Engineering Center's Hydrologic Modeling System(HEC-HMS)to model pond Creek,a rural watershed in Texas,*** use is primarily crop cultivation and secondarily pasture for cattle ***,several industrial-scale projects are planned to convert≈15–30%of pond Creek from agriculture to solar *** model was parameterized using public data sources and information from local stakeholders,then calibrated to several historical precipitation *** were conducted by varying precipitation depth,duration,and land uses:native vegetation pre-cultivation(control),cultivation(current),current conditions with 15%solar farm conversion(solar),and current conditions with 30%solar farm conversion(solar x2).Shifting to solar farming led to significant increases in cumulative sediment load(+12%–30%),with no significant differences in peak discharge rate changes(+0.38%–4%).Comparison to soil loss tolerance values showed current and solar treatment erosion rates exceeded tolerance values between 0.17 and 2.29 tons per hectare and all treatments were significantly different than the native *** discuss high leverage strategies applicable to solar farm development sites as well as watersheds where they *** demand for land for renewable energy such as solar farming warrants greater attention from the soil and water conservation community to anticipate and mitigate impacts across landscapes.

在原油生产中,聚合物驱是提高原油采收率最有效的方法之一。聚合物驱是通过在水中加入高分子聚合物来增加水的粘性。它通过改善水油流度比来增大垂向及平面波及系数。研究表明,一次采油和二次采油采收率为20%-30%,与此相比,EOR可以使原油采收率达到30%-60%甚至更高。H20是一个砂岩油藏,位于乌干达西南部的Albertine Graben,其原始油藏压力接近泡点压力,原油为稠油且富含蜡。因此,国际石油公司提出蒸汽驱,CO驱,聚合物驱等不同的EOR方法来解决这一问题。本研究的目的是评估该油藏的聚合物驱油的可行性。本研究采用数值油藏模拟和常规油藏工程方法。研究优化了井网、井距、井数、注采比、聚合物注入时机、聚合物段塞数和聚合物浓度等参数,并完成聚合物注入的经济评价。研究发现,采用反九点法,450米井间距驱油最为合适,同时H20油藏适合聚合物驱。聚合物驱可以使采收率提高2%。水驱的净现值是1.87×10美元,而聚合物驱的净现值是2.0×10美元,净利润1.2×10美元,在经济上是可行的。

Taxonomic placement of Epichloëpoae *** horizontal dissemination to seedlings via conidia

A new Epichloëspecies distributed in Africa,Europe,North America and South America on host genera Bromus,Festuca,Lolium and poa is ***,characteristic of the genus,frequently occurred on the reproductive tillers of poa secunda ***,but neither perithecia nor mature asci were *** cells and conidial characteristics were in the range of Epichloë*** of the genes encodingβ-tubulin(tub2)and translation elongation factor 1-α(tef1)were amplified and *** analyses of these sequences grouped the poa secunda *** endophyte into one group within a non-hybrid Epichloëspecies *** the basis of morphology,host range and evolutionary history we propose that this endophyte represents a new species of Epichloë.The name Epichloëpoae is proposed for this *** infectivity of the conidia produced on plants was *** the first experiment,using conidia of Epichloëpoae from leaves and endophytefree seeds of poa secunda *** we show that when germinating seeds and developing seedlings of the plant were exposed to conidia,28–57%of seedlings became infected by the *** non-inoculated control plants showed no colonization by the *** the following spring after vernalization,colonized plants on flowering culms produced stromata with *** the second experiment,using stromal conidia and the same procedure,19–42%of seedlings of poa secunda *** became colonized by the *** results demonstrate that Epichloëpoae may spread to uninfected grass hosts by conidia frequently formed on the surfaces of plant leaves as well as by conidia formed on stromata.

In papilionoideae legume, Lotusjaponicus, the development of dorsal-ventral （DV） asymmetric flowers is mainly controlled by two TB1/CYCLOIDEA/pCF （TCp） genes, SQUARED STANDARD （SQU） and KEELED WINGS IN LOTUS （KEW）, which determine dorsal and lateral identities, respectively. However, the molecular basis of how these two highly homologous genes orchestrate their diverse functions remains unclear. Here, we analyzed their expression levels, and investigated the transcriptional activities of SQUand KEW. We demonstrated that SQU possesses both activation and repression activities, while KEW acts only as an activator. They form homo- and heterodimers, and then collaboraUvely regulate their expression at the transcription level. Furthermore, we identified two types of post-transcriptional modifications, phosphor- ylation and ATp/GTp binding, both of which could affect their transcriptional activities. Mutations in ATp/ GTp binding motifs of SQU and KEW lead to failure of phosphorylation, and transgenic plants bearing the mutant proteins display defective DV asymmetric flower development, indicating that the two conjugate modifications are essential for their diverse functions. Altogether, SQU and KEW activities are precisely modulated at both transcription and post-transcription levels, which might link DV asymmetric flower development to different physiological status and/or signaling pathways.

An online survey addressed to members listed in the European Cooperative programme for Crop Genetic Resources Networks Working Group on Graithe current problems in the management of GL germplasm, to work out the criterian Legumes and Grain Legumes （GL） germplasm managers and breeders was carded out to pinpoint and decisions involved in the implementation of regeneration procedures and to identify strategic areas where further research is required. The survey was divided into three sections：（1） germplasm collection details and current status of the regeneration needs; （2） assessment over the understanding of basic information required to carry out appropriate regeneration procedures such as the breeding systems, the pollination requirements and pollinating agents, the isolation techniques and regeneration facilities; and （3） assessment of different options, in addition to ＂ex situ＂, such as ＂in situ＂ and ＂on farm＂ conservation. Obtaining, collating and analysing different kinds of existing data on mating system of GL species, effective pollination control methods and isolation facilities by species and location is one example of a priority issue. The GL community makes a clear request for greater support for the development of well-designed methodologies of regeneration that maintain the genetic structure of populations and that the optimum regeneration strategy is most likely to be achieved through integrating pollinators with the regeneration procedures. A major concern of the GL community is the lack of empirical scientific information on the most suitable pollinator agents.

A Novel Approach for Developing a Linear Regression Model within Logistic Cluster Using Scikit-Learn

Due to the rapid development of logistic industry, transportation cost is also increasing, and finding trends in transportation activities will impact positively in investment in transportation infrastructure. There is limited literature and data-driven analysis about trends in transportation mode. This thesis delves into the operational challenges of vehicle performance management within logistics clusters, a critical aspect of efficient supply chain operations. It aims to address the issues faced by logistics organizations in optimizing their vehicle fleets’ performance, essential for seamless logistics operations. The study’s core design involves the development of a predictive logistics model based on regression, focused on forecasting, and evaluating vehicle performance in logistics clusters. It encompasses a comprehensive literature review, research methodology, data sources, variables, feature engineering, and model training and evaluation and F-test analysis was done to identify and verify the relationships between attributes and the target variable. The findings highlight the model’s efficacy, with a low mean squared error (MSE) value of 3.42, indicating its accuracy in predicting performance metrics. The high R-squared (R2) score of 0.921 emphasizes its ability to capture relationships between input characteristics and performance metrics. The model’s training and testing accuracy further attest to its reliability and generalization capabilities. In interpretation, this research underscores the practical significance of the findings. The regression-based model provides a practical solution for the logistics industry, enabling informed decisions regarding resource allocation, maintenance planning, and delivery route optimization. This contributes to enhanced overall logistics performance and customer service. By addressing performance gaps and embracing modern logistics technologies, the study supports the ongoing evolution of vehicle performance management
