Bariatric interventions have shown the best therapeutic benefits in individuals with *** can be classified into surgical procedures(bariatric/metabolic surgery)and endoscopic *** surgical procedures include sleeve gastrectomy,Roux-en-Y gastric bypass,bilio-pancreatic diversion with or without duodenal switch and Stomach Intestinal pylorus Sparing *** procedures include intragastric balloons,transpyloric shuttle,endoscopic gastroplasties,aspiration therapy,duodenal mucosal resurfacing,duodeno-jejunal bypass liner,gastro-duodeno-jejunal bypass and incisionless magnetic anastomosis system among ***,these procedures are limited by lack of wide availability,high costs,immediate and long-term complications and poor acceptability in some *** re-gain is a common concern and revisional metabolic surgery is often *** pre-operative evaluation and correction of nutritional deficiencies post-surgery are very *** most appropriate procedure for a person would depend on multiple factors like the intended magnitude of weight-loss,comorbidities and surgical fitness,as well as choice of the ***,glucagon-like insulinotropic peptide-1 receptor agonists(GLp)and the GLp-1/gastric inhibitory polypeptide co-agonist-Tirzepatide have shown remarkable weight loss potential,which is at par with bariatric interventions in some *** far these can help in avoiding invasive bariatric procedures in near future remains to be *** updated and comprehensive clinical review by He et al in the recent issue of World journal of Diabetes address has addressed the avenues and challenges of currently available bariatric surgeries which will enable clinicians to make better decisions in their practice,including their applicability in special populations like the elderly and pediatric age groups,type 1 diabetes mellitus,and non-diabetics.

Knowledge of sexually transmitted infections among senior high school adolescents in the Wa Municipality of Ghana

Background:Sexually transmitted infections(STIs)are responsible for a high burden of morbidity and mortality in many developing countries especially among *** are predisposed to STIs because they are more likely to engage in unhealthy ***,these adolescents have limited knowledge of the use and barriers to sexual and reproductive health information and care *** study explored the knowledge of STIs among Senior High School Adolescents in the Wa Municipality of ***:The study designed as a descriptive cross-sectional research.A multistage sampling technique was used to recruit these adolescents for the *** 355 adolescents were selected from senior high schools in the Wa *** statistics and Chi-square test were used to analyze the data,at a significance level ofpjority of respondents had good knowledge of STIs,with the most common examples of STIs identified as HIV/AIDS(80.8%,287/355)and gonorrhea(73.8%,262/355).The main known signs and symptoms identified were discharges from the penis/vagina(72.4%,257/355),painful urination(71.5%,254/355),and itching,and sores around the genital area(72.7%,258/355).The main sources of information/education of STIs for these adolescents were the school,hospital,internet and *** respondent lived with was found to be significantly associated with knowledge of STI(ppondents had good knowledge of STI,and the school was the most common source of information on STL It is,therefore,important for the Ghana Education Service and the Ghana Health Service to strengthen the School Health Education programme in second cycle institutions in the Wa ***,especially mothers,should be actively involved in the sexual health education of adolescents.

The Relevance of CARICOM＇s Existence to the Virgin Islands in the Context of Globalization

The purpose of this study was to consider the relevance of CARICOM＇s existence to the Virgin Islands （BVI）. Its relevance becomes more significant to the BVI and the Caribbean, by extension, when the globalization phenomenon is applied; a phenomenon that has been in existence for centuries. Overall, the study concluded that even though the BVI remains only an associate member of CARICOM and not of CSME, it still has an interest in the progress of the regional grouping and its trade initiatives. Over the years, CARICOM has been struggling with its identity as a unified grouping. Nonetheless, it was found that in an effort to combat the trade liberalization process, the grouping must find that inner connection to advance its agenda on the global stage. Accordingly, it has been suggested that CARICOM begin to focus on its strengths and opportunities in order for economic development across the region to occur. It has also been recommended that more serious considerations be taken towards the development of a comprehensive regional market for the trading of goods and services, that is, the Caribbean Single Market and Economy （CSME）. To substantiate its findings, the paper used the qualitative research approach, combined with a situation （SWOT） analysis.

Agricultural development and food security： The way out of crisis

The purpose of this study is to elicit how investments in agricultural development and food security would safeguard the Virgin Islands （BVI） and the Caribbean, by extension, from future global crisis. History shows that agriculture played a significant role in the rise of civilization globally and was the main contributor to the Caribbean economy before the 1950＇s. Overall, it was determined that the BVI population, in general, is desirous of more investment opportunities within the agricultural sector, to assist with the alleviation of poverty at the national level, to advance economic development and trade across the region and to make sustainable development more attainable for the Caribbean, as a whole. To do this, agricultural development and food security must become the focal point of the BVI and other Caribbean economies. Accordingly, the paper recommends that investment within the agricultural sector be undertaken more aggressively across the region. The mixed research approach method was used to validate these claims.

目的探讨HIV-1 gp41胞外域gp41-I90肽对新生隐球菌致人脑微血管内皮细胞骨架改变的影响。方法以人脑微血管内皮细胞作为体外血脑屏障模型,在细胞培养玻片或transwell小室上长成单层,用HIV-1 gp41-I90预处理后,再用新生隐球菌感染细胞单层,免疫荧光方法检测细胞骨架蛋白actin(肌动蛋白)和filamin(肌动蛋白连接蛋白)的形态变化,并测定gp41-I90处理的人脑微血管内皮细胞单层对辣根过氧化物酶和新生隐球菌的通过率。结果 gp41-I90能明显增强新生隐球菌所致的人脑微血管内皮细胞骨架蛋白actin和filamin的改变,actin和filamin的丝状排列扭曲,纹理稀疏;gp41-I90处理的人脑微血管内皮细胞单层通透性增强,对辣根过氧化物酶和新生隐球菌的通过率明显增加。结论 HIV-1 gp41胞外域gp41-I90肽促进新生隐球菌黏附和侵入血脑屏障,与其增强新生隐球菌所致人脑微血管内皮细胞骨架改变有关。

Stature Estimation from Footprint Dimensions in an Adult Nigerian Student population

Examination of footprints provides important evidence in crime scene investigations and helps in stature prediction of *** study aimed to derive regression equations and multiplication factors for stature estimation from footprint dimensions in adult Nigerian medical students of the University of *** an ink pad and a stadiometer,bilateral footprints and stature,respectively,were obtained from 230 subjects(100 males and 130 females)of Nigerian ancestry,aged 18-36 years upon satisfaction of the inclusion criteria and full written *** data collected were analyzed using SpSS version *** dimorphism in stature and footprint dimensions was found to be statistically significant(pprint preponderance(ppositive significant correlations(pprint dimensions(T.1-T.5 lengths,breadth at ball[BAB],and breadth at heel[BAH])in the males,females,and the pooled sample,with the only exception being the right and left breadths at heel in the males(r=0.112 and 0.183,respectively).The right and left T.2 lengths exhibited the highest correlation with statxire in the males,females,and the pooled sample with values of 0.704 and 0.703,0.749 and 0.736,and 0.853 and 0.84&*** dimensions are significantly correlated with stature,with the footprint length(T.1-T.5)dimensions showing more reliability and accuracy in stature prediction than the footprint breadth(BAH and BAB)dimensions.

Taman Saujana Hijau(TSH),putrajaya is a 41-ha urban park planted with various coniferous species from around the *** pests and disease incidences of this park are unknown and there is a need for an evaluation of the health status of this urban *** study assessed the level of pest and disease incidents of coniferous species in 12 plots of 7 species(Araucaria bidwilii,Araucaria haterophylla,Araucaria cunninghamii,pinus caribaea,pinus merkusii,podocarpus polystachyus,and podocarpus costalis).Termites,canker disease,and foliar disease are three major *** highest pest and disease incidence(pnDI)was foliar disease with a 0.49 coefficient correlation between the total number of trees and the pnDI,followed by canker disease with 0.40,and termites with *** the seven conifers,*** was the most infected followed by *** and *** was concluded that the incidence of pests and diseases in TSH was *** our knowledge,this may be the first baseline inventory of pests and diseases of coniferous species in Malaysia.

Methanol extract of Tephrosia vogelii leaves potentiates the contractile action of acetylcholine on isolated rabbit jejunum

Objective:To investigate the modulating role of methanol extract of Tephrosia vogelii leaves on acetylcholine(ACh)-induced contraction of isolated rabbit ***: Rabbit jejunum segment was removed and placed in an organ bath containing Tyrode's solution, and its contractions were recorded ***: ACh(2.0 × 10-10 g/m L) and the extract(2.0 × 10-4 g/m L) individually increased the frequency of contraction(mean ± SEM) of the isolated smooth muscle tissue by 47.6% ± 9.5% and 77.8% ± 66.5%, respectively. When ACh and the extract were combined, the frequency of contraction of the tissue was increased by 222.2% ± 25.9%, representing a 366.7% increase(p p plitude of contraction of the tissue by 685.7% ± 61.1% and 455.2% ± 38.1%, respectively. When ACh and the extract were combined, the amplitude of contraction of the tissue rose by 1263.8% ± 69.0%, representing 84.3% increase over the ef ect of ACh alone. Conclusions: The findings demonstrate that methanol extract of Tephrosia vogelii leaves potentiates the contractile ef ect of ACh on intestinal smooth muscle, supporting the traditional claim that the plant is purgative.

previous study has shown that during zygomorphic development in garden pea （pisum sativum L.）, the organ internal （IN） asymmetry of lateral and ventral petals was regulated by a genetic locus, SYMMETRIC pETAL 1 （SYp1）, while the dorsoventral （DV） asymmetry was determined by two CYC-like TCp genes or the psCYC genes, KEELED WINGS （K） and LOBED STANDARD 1 （LST1）. In this study, two novel loci, ELEpHANT EAR-LIKE LEAF 1 （ELE1） and ELE2 were characterized. These mutants exhibit a similar defect of IN asymmetry as syp1 in lateral and ventral petals, but also display pleiotropic effects of enlarged organ size. Genetic analysis showed that ELE1 and ELE2 were involved in same genetic pathway and the enlarged size of petals but not compound leaves in e/e2 was suppressed by introducing k and Ist1, indicating that the enlargement of dorsal petal in e/e2 requires the activities of K and LST1. An experimental framework of comparative genomic mapping approach was set up to map and clone LjELE1 locus in Lotus japonicus. Cloning the ELE1 gene will shed light on the underlying molecular mechanism during zygomorphic development and further provide the molecular basis for genetic improvement on legume crops.
