Thermal behavior of integrated passive components has become an important issue when designing these components. This paper presents the thermal modeling of a multilayer integrated LC filter used in DC-DC step-down converter for temperature distribution calculation. The approach used for this analysis is based on thermal equivalent circuit. Temperature distribution is obtained from algebraic equation, which is in vector and matrix form. The results of analytical calculation are compared with simulation results from finite element method. These results showed a good correlation.

Cardiovascular complications during hyperthyroidism are dominated by arrhythmias, heart failure and coronary heart disease. Pericardial effusion which is a common complication of hypothyroidism is extremely rare in hyperthyroidism. We report the case of a 45-year-old woman admitted for management of pleuro-pericarditis associated with atrial fibrillation in the context of cardiothyreosis. The treatment consisted of a pericardial puncture associated with synthetic anti-thyroid drugs and anti-tuberculosis drugs with positive clinical and echocardiographic outcomes.

Pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis： an interesting case report with systematic review of Indian literature

Pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis is a rare disease characterized by intra-alveolar presence of microliths. This study reports an interesting case of pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis and provides a systematic review of cases reported from India. A 23-year-old female presented with a history of cough, wheeze, chest pain, and episodic wheeze for five months. Pulmonary function tests demonstrated an obstructive pattern, and chest X- ray showed fine micronodular opacities predominantly involving the middle and lower zones of both lungs. Transbronchial lung biopsy revealed the diagnosis. She responded well to inhaled steroid therapy. A systematic review of literature was performed and identified 73 cases of pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis reported from India. The mean （SD） age of the patients was 28.8 （14.9） years, with an almost equal male：female ratio. Many patients were asymptomatic at presentation. Breathlessness and cough were the most common symptoms, and the disease progressed into respiratory failure associated with cor pulmonale. About one-third of the cases were initially misdiagnosed and treated as pulmonary tuberculosis. Extra-pulmonary manifestations and co- morbidities were also evident in our series. This systematic review helps to determine epidemiological and clinical characteristics of pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis. Further research is needed to elucidate the etiopathogenesis, diagnosis, and therapeutic options, which are beneficial in developing and identifying cost- effective treatment for pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis.

Contribution of Ambulatory Pulsed Pressure in the Modification of the Left Ventricular Geometry of the African Black People

Introduction-Purpose: Pulsed pressure is recognized as an important predictor of cardiovascular risk. The purpose of this study was to identify a possible association between high ambulatory pulsed pressure and left ventricular geometry change in African black people. Material and methods: We conducted a bicentric, retrospective descriptive and analytical study that took place from 2010 to 2015 at the Abidjan Heart Institute and the Polyclinic Sainte Anne Marie in Abidjan. The people were selected from MAPA’s archive files. Those aged 18 years and over were included, all of whom had valid echocardiography and MAPA. The analyzed parameters concerned epidemiological data with age, gender and body surface area. The clinical data analyzed included systolic, diastolic, mean and 24-hours pulsed pressures. On the echocardiographic parameters, it was the evaluation of the ventricular mass indexed to the body surface. Results: A total of 177 patients records were selected. The mean age of the patients was 56.32 ± 10.51 years. There was a male predominance with a sex ratio of 1.15. The main cardiovascular risk factors found outside high blood pressure were dyslipidemia (06.87%) and obesity (13.7%). In clinical terms, hypertension was found in 75% of cases (n = 133) versus 25% (n = 44) of normotensive patients. These blood pressure profiles allowed us to classify our study population into two groups: hypertensives people and normotensives people. The hypertensives people had significantly higher mean pulsed pressure levels than the normotensives people. All normotensive patients had normal pulsed pressure. In the hypertensive population, the prevalence of high pulsed pressure was 31% (n = 41) versus 69% (n = 92) normal pulsed pressure. Using a Gurevich-Krylov solution that describes the propagation of nonlinear magnetoacoustic waves in a cold plasma, we construct solutions of various other nonlinear systems. These include, for example, Madelung fluid, reaction diffusion, Broer-Kaup, Boussinesq, and Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman systems. We also construct dilaton field solutions for a Jackiw-Teitelboim black hole with a negative cosmological constant. The black hole metric corresponds to a cold plasma metric by way of a change of variables, and the plasma dilatons and cosmological constant also have an expression in terms of parameters occurring in the Gurevich-Krylov solution. A dispersion relation, moreover, links the magnetoacoustic system and a resonance nonlinear Schrödinger equation.

Multilevel inverters are well used in grid connected domestic photovoltaic applications because of their ability to generate a very good quality of waveforms, reducing switching frequency, and their low voltage stress across the power devices. However, this kind of inverter has to be modified to both limit common-mode currents and improve the robustness of the system. This paper presents a new mixed 5-level inverter that meets these challenges. The operating principle of the converter is proposed. Several experimental measurements are described to validate this new concept. The output voltage and current and the THD of the output voltage are particularly discussed.

Development and Static Mode Characterization of a New Low-Loss AC Switch Based on Super-gain BJT

This paper deals with an innovative low-loss AC switch, named as TBBS （transistor based bidirectional switch）, based on the association of super-gain BJTs developed by the GREMAN laboratory. The main characterization results of the super-gain BJT are reminded to identify the key parameters that are essential to build the TBBS. A complete characterization database in static mode of this new AC switch is discussed. In particular, its forward and reverse-biased features have been measured to see the evolution of the DC current gain as a function of the current density. The TBBS makes sense when using the super-gain BJT （bipolar junction transistor） in reverse mode. It means that the reverse DC current gain has to be sufficient （at least higher than l compared with the conventional BJT one）. This new AC switch is bidirectional in current and voltage, totally controllable （turn-on and turn-off） and the most attractive solution in terms of on-state power losses. Further, its manufacturing process is as easier as existing device such as triac.
