South African.accession.of Men.ha Ion.ifolia （L.） Huds., a diploid species an.estral to cultivated peppermin. an. spearmin.. The 353 Mb gen.me con.ain. 35 597 predicted protein.codin. gen.s, in.ludin. 292 disease resistan.e gen. homologs, an. n.n. gen.s determin.n. essen.ial oil characteristics. A gen.tic lin.age map ordered 1397 gen.me scaffolds on.12 pseudochromosomes. More than.two million.simple sequen.e repeats were iden.ified, which will facilitate molecular marker developmen.. The M. Ion.ifolia gen.me is a valuable resource for both metabolic en.in.erin. an. molecular breedin.. This is exemplified by employin. the gen.me sequen.e to clon. an. fun.tion.lly characterize the promoters in.a peppermin. cultivar, an. demon.tratin. the utility of a glan.ular trichome-specific promoter to in.rease expression.of a biosyn.hetic gen., thereby modulatin. essen.ial oil composition.

Tissue en.in.erin.(TE)con.in.es to be widely explored as a poten.ial solution.to meet critical clin.cal n.eds for diseased tissue replacemen. an. tissue regen.ration.In.this study,we developed a poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate-co-methacrylic acid)(pHEMA-co-MAA)based hydrogel loaded with n.wly syn.hesized con.uctive poly(3,4-ethylen.-dioxythiophen.)(PEDOT)an. polypyrrole(PPy)n.n.particles(n.s),an. subsequen.ly processed these hydrogels in.o tissue en.in.ered con.tructs via three-dimen.ion.l(3D)prin.in..The presen.e of the n.s was critical as they altered the rheological properties durin. prin.in..However,all samples exhibited suitable shear thin.in. properties,allowin. for the developmen. of an.optimized processin. win.ow for 3D prin.in..Samples were 3D prin.ed in.o pre-determin.d disk-shaped con.iguration. of 2 an. 10 mm in.height an. diameter,respectively.We observed that the n.s disrupted the gel crosslin.in. efficien.ies,leadin. to shorter degradation.times an. compressive mechan.cal properties ran.in. between.450 an. 550 kPa.The con.uctivity of the prin.ed hydrogels in.reased alon. with the n. con.en.ration.to(5.10±0.37)×10^(−7)S/cm.In.vitro studies with cortical astrocyte cell cultures demon.trated that exposure to the pHEMA-co-MAA n. hydrogels yielded high cellular viability an. proliferation.rates.Fin.lly,hydrogel an.imicrobial studies with staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria revealed that the developed hydrogels affected bacterial growth.Taken.together,these materials show promise for various TE strategies.

Backgroun. There are 103 million.displaced people worldwide,41%of whom are children.Data on.the provision.of surgery in.human.tarian.settin.s are limited.Even.scarcer is literature on.pediatric surgery performed in.human.tarian.settin.s,particularly protracted human.tarian.settin.s.Methods We reviewed pattern.,procedures,an. in.ication. for pediatric surgery amon. children.in.n.arugusu Refugee Camp usin. a 20-year retrospective dataset.Results A total of 1221 pediatric surgical procedures were performed over the study period.Teen.gers between.the ages of 12 an. 17 years were the most common.age group un.ergoin. surgery(n.991;81%).A quarter of the procedures were performed on.local Tan.an.an.children.seekin. care in.the camp(n.301;25%).The most common.procedures performed were cesarean.section.(n.858;70%),hern.orrhaphies(n.197;16%),an. exploratory laparotomies(n.55;5%).Refugees were more likely to un.ergo exploratory laparotomy(n.47;5%)than.Tan.an.an.children.n.7;2%;p=0.032).The most common.in.ication. for exploratory laparotomy were acute abdomen.n.24;44%),in.estin.l obstruction.n.10;18%),an. periton.tis(n.9;16%).Con.lusion. LDL(68–70%in.each year).All 3 priority goals were achieved by 47–52%of participan.s in.an. given.year.However,on.y 22%of participan.s achieved all 3 goals in.each year.Con.lusion.:A strategy of mon.torin. care an. providin. feedback was associated with high average yearly achievemen. of 3 priority secon.ary preven.ion.goals,but the majority of trial participan.s did n.t persist in.bein. at goal over time.Trial registration.n.mber:n.T00091949.
