A life course health development model of HIV vulnerabilities and resiliencies in young transgender women in Peru

Background Globally transgender women(TW)are at heightened vulnerability for HIV *** Lima Peru,sharp increases in HIV prevalence are seen among TW ages 25 years and older highlighting the need for early HIV prevention efforts for young *** study conducted in-depth qualitative interviews to elucidate the social and developmental contexts of HIV vulnerability for young TW in Lima *** Between November 2019 and February 2020,young TW ages 16-24 years(n=21)in Lima Peru were purposively sampled using in-person(e.g.,face-to-face outreach)and online(e.g.,social media,networking websites)social network-based *** were conducted in Spanish and a rapid qualitative analysis was conducted using a modified immersion crystallization methodology to identify *** Five themes emerged,informing the conceptualization of a Life Course Health Development Model of HIV Vulnerabilities and Resiliencies:(1)interpersonal contexts(family,school,partners,sexual debut,trans mothers);(2)structural vulnerabilities(poverty,educational constraints,migration,hostile environments,sex work,police violence);(3)concomitant mental health and psychosocial factors(discrimination,violence,depression,suicidality,substance use,life hopes/dreams/future expectations);(4)gender affirmation processes(gender identity development,hormones,surgery,legal name/gender marker change);(5)HIV prevention and treatment barriers(PrEP uptake,HIV care,condom use,risk reduction).Conclusions Young TW experience formidable developmental challenges associated with transphobia,violence,and pre-maturely facing accelerated *** and culturally appropriate interventions to mitigate HIV vulnerability in Peru are needed,including those that consider co-occurring stigma-related conditions in adolescence and young adulthood.

Parabolic Trough Collector and Central Receiver Coupled with Fresnel Lens:Experimental Tests

Renewable energies have a high impact on power energy production and reduction of environmental pollution worldwide,so high efforts have been made to improve renewable technologies and research about *** paper presents the thermal performance results obtained by simulation and experimental tests of a parabolic trough collector with central receiver coupled to Fresnel lens,under different configurations on the *** simulation method was computational fluid dynamics(CFD)analysis in SolidWorks(R)soft-ware tool,which works with Naiver-Stokes equations to converge on a *** tests were formed with all configurations proposed and three observations for each one,a total of 12 observations were performed in all *** a result,the best thermal performance in simulation was achieved with the Fresnel lens and black pipe collector,with a maximum temperature of 116℃under 1000 W/m^2 radiation,the same system achieved in experimental tests a maximum temperature of 96℃with a radiation of 983 W/m^2.

Non-islet cell tumor hypoglycemia as an initial presentation of hepatocellular carcinoma coupled with end-stage liver cirrhosis: A case report and review of literature

BACKGROUND Non-islet cell tumor hypoglycemia(NICTH)is a rare cause of persistent hypoglycemia seen in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).It is likely to be underdiagnosed especially in the patients with poor hepatic function and ***,we report a rare case of NICTH as the initial presentation of HCC in a patient with chronic hypoglycemia due to end-stage liver *** SUMMARY A 62-year-old male with chronic fasting hypoglycemia secondary to end-stage hepatitis C-related cirrhosis,presented with altered mental status and *** was found to have severe hypoglycemia refractory to glucose *** studies and biopsy discovered well differentiated HCC without *** evaluation showed low insulin,C-peptide and betahydroxybutyrate along with a high insulin-like growth factor-2/insulin-like growth factor ratio,consistent with the diagnosis of *** patient was not a candidate for surgical resection or chemotherapy,he was started on prednisolone with some improvements in the glucose homeostasis,but soon decompensated after a superimposed hospital acquired *** NICTH can occur as the sole initial presentation of HCC and is often difficult to correct without tumor *** should maintain high clinical suspicion for early recognition of paraneoplastic NICTH in patients at risk for HCC,even those with chronic fasting hypoglycemia in the setting of severe hepatic failure and malnutrition.

Milestones in the discovery of hepatitis C

The discovery of hepatitis C has been a landmark in public health as it brought the opportunity to save millions of lives through the diagnosis,prevention and cure of the *** combined work of three researchers,Alter H,Houghton M and Rice C,which set the basis for the diagnosis,treatment and prevention of hepatitis C apart from laying the ground work for a new approach to study infections in general and developing new antiviral *** is a story of a transfusion-associated infection.A series of clinical studies demonstrated the existence of an infectious agent associated with *** was followed by the identification of what was later known to be the hepatitis C virus(HCV)and the development of diagnostic *** all preceded the full molecular identification and demonstration of a causal *** it ended up with the development and discovery of a new class of therapeutic drugs,the direct acting antivirals,which are now used not only to cure the disease but most probably,to eliminate the *** work started with Dr Alter H who demonstrated that a new virus was responsible for the majority of post-transfusion hepatitis followed by Houghton M who cloned the virus and developed the blood test to identify those cases that carried the ***,the work of Rice C demonstrated that a cloned HCV produced after applying molecular biology techniques could cause long-standing infection and cause the same disease as the one observed in humans.

Receiver tube heat transfer analysis of a CCP collector designed based on branched fractals geometry

For the development of systems related to renewable energy and specifically for thermo-solar energy,it is essential to study and analyze the different thermal phenomena of heat transfer,in search of the best conditions that allow strengthening the *** such as radiation,convection,and conduction are highly studied,from the field of materials to the field of infrastructure,finding day to day optimal solutions that guarantee a great use of the solar resource available on the earth's *** study presented the results of heat transfer analysis on a receiver pipe in a CCP;designed using the theory of branched fractal geometry to improve the heat transfer associated with concentrating solar capture systems.A fractal structure as a branch or arboreal fractal type network,influenced thermal and electrical parameters,as electrical resistance,thermal resistance,and convective heat transfer,so increasing the level branch heat transfer can be enhancement along of the *** use of renewable energies in agriculture benefits the industrial processes that require a continuous power system,due to climatic conditions and geographical location is not a guarantee in food production fields,which reason solar capture systems contribute to food dehydration processes,water heating,refrigeration,and energy production.

One of the main results of this paper shows that an L^1 to L^q Poincaré inequality for some 01, i.e.. (f_B|f-f_B|~q dv)^(1/q)≤cr(B) f_B gdμ, for all metric balls B B_0. will suffice to imply the above representation formula. As an immediate corollary, we can show that the weak-type condition. sup_(λ>0)(λv({x ∈ B:|f(x)-f_B|>λ}))/v(B)≤Gr (B)f_B gdμ. also implies the same formula. Analogous theorems related to high-order Poincaréinequalities and Sobolev spaces in metric spaces are also proved.

Radial glia interact with primary olfactory axons to regulate development of the olfactory bulb

The developing olfactory system - merging of the periph- eral and central nervous systems： The olfactory system is responsible for the sense of smell and is comprised of a complex topographic map that regenerates throughout life. In rodents each olfactory sensory neuron expresses one of N 1,300 odorant receptors with the neurons being distributed mosaically within the epithelium. The axons of the sensory neurons do not maintain near-neighbour relationships and instead project to disparate topographic targets in the olfac- tory bulb within the central nervous system. The develop- ment of the targets relies on the intermingling of the sensory axons with the interneurons, glia and second order neurons of the olfactory bulb. Thus the formation of the olfactory system involves the coordinated integration of the axons of the peripheral olfactory sensory neurons with the cells of the olfactory bulb.

Role of dup A in virulence of Helicobacter pylori

Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) is a gastric human pathogen associated with acute and chronic gastritis, 70% of all gastric ulcers, 85% of all duodenal ulcers, and both forms of stomach cancer, mucosal-associated lymphoid tissue(MALT) lymphoma and adenocarcinoma. Recently, attention has focused on possible relationship between presence of certain virulence factor and H. pylori-associated diseases. Some contradictory data between this bacterium and related disorders has been observed since not all the colonized individuals develop to severe disease. The reported diseases plausibility related to H. pylori specific virulence factors became an interesting story about this organism. Although a number of putative virulence factors have been identified including cytotoxin-associated gene a(cag A) and vac A, there are conflicting data about their actual participation as specific risk factor for H. pylori-related diseases. Duodenal ulcer promoting gene a(dup A) is a virulence factor of H. pylori that is highly associated with duodenal ulcer development and reduced risk of gastric cancer. The prevalence of dup A in H. pylori strains isolated from western countries is relatively higher than in H. pylori strains from Asian countries. Current confusing epidemiological reports will continue unless future sophisticated and molecular studies provide data on functional and complete dup A cluster in H. pylori infected individuals. This paper elucidates available knowledge concerning role of dup A in virulence of H. pylori after a decade of its discovery.

Photosynthetic Regulation of the Cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 Thioredoxin System and Functional Analysis of TrxB （Trx x） and TrxQ （Trx y） Thioredoxins

The expression of the genes encoding the ferredoxin-thioredoxin system including the ferredoxin-thioredoxin reductase （FTR） genes ftrC and ftrV and the four different thioredoxin genes trxA （m-type; sir0623）, trxB （x-type; sir1139）, trxC （sll1057） and trxQ （y-type; sir0233） of the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 has been studied according to changes in the photosynthetic conditions. Experiments of light-dark transition indicate that the expression of all these genes except trxQ decreases in the dark in the absence of glucose in the growth medium. The use of two electron transport inhibitors, 3-（3,4-dichlorophenyl）-1,1-dimethylurea （DCMU） and 2,5-dibromo-3-methyl-6-isopropyl-p- benzoquinone （DBMIB）, reveals a differential effect on thioredoxin genes expression being trxC and trxQ almost unaffected, whereas trxA, trxB, and the ftr genes are down-regulated. In the presence of glucose, DCMU does not affect gene expression but DBMIB still does. Analysis of the single TrxB or TrxQ and the double TrxB TrxQ Synechocystis mutant strains reveal different functions for each of these thioredoxins under different growth conditions. Finally, a Synechocystis strain was generated containing a mutated version of TrxB （TrxBC34S）, which was used to identify the potential in-vivo targets of this thioredoxin by a proteomic analysis.
