Silicon-based electro-optic modulators contribute to easing the integration of high-speed and low-power consumption circuits for classical optical communications and data *** the plasma dispersion modulation,an alternative solution in silicon is to exploit the DC Kerr effect,which generates an equivalent linear electro-optical effect enabled by applying a large DC electric *** some theoretical and experimental studies have shown its existence in silicon,limited contributions relative to plasma dispersion have been achieved in high-speed modulation so *** paper presents high-speed optical modulation based on the DC Kerr effect in silicon PIN *** contributions of both plasma dispersion and Kerr effects have been analyzed in different waveguide configurations,and we demonstrated that the Kerr induced modulation is dominant when a high external DC electric field is applied in PIN ***-speed optical modulation response is analyzed,and eye diagrams up to 80 Gbit/s in NRZ format are obtained under a *** of 30 *** work paves the way to exploit the Kerr effect to generate high-speed Pockels-like optical modulation.

In recent years,finite element analysis is increasingly being proposed in slope stability problems as a competitive method to traditional limit equilibrium methods(LEMs)which are known for their inherent ***,the application of finite element method(FEM)to slope stability as a strength reduction method(SRM)or as finite element limit analysis(FELA)is not always a success for the drawbacks that characterize both *** increase the performance of finite element analysis in this problem,a new approach is proposed in this *** consists in gradually expanding the mobilized stress Mohr’s circles until the soil failure occurs according to a prescribed non-convergence *** present approach called stress deviator increasing method(SDIM)is considered rigorous for three main ***,it preserves the definition of the factor of safety(FOS)as the ratio of soil shear strength to the mobilized shear ***,it maintains the progressive development of shear stress resulting from the increase in the principal stress deviator on the same plane,on which the shear strength takes ***,by introducing the concept of equivalent stress loading,the resulting trial stresses are checked against the violation of the actual yield criterion formed with the real strength parameters rather than those reduced by a trial *** new numerical procedure was encoded in a Fortran computer code called S^(4)DINA and verified by several *** with other numerical methods such as the SRM,gravity increasing method(GIM)or even FELA by assessing both the FOS and contours of equivalent plastic strains showed promising results.

In petroleum domain,optimizing hydrocarbon production is essential because it does not only ensure the economic prospects of the petroleum companies,but also fulfills the increasing global demand of ***,applying numerical reservoir simulation(NRS)to optimize production can induce high computational *** models are suggested to alleviate this challenge because they are computationally less demanding and able to yield reasonably accurate *** this paper,we demonstrated how a machine learning technique,namely long short-term memory(LSTM),was applied to develop proxies of a 3D reservoir *** techniques were employed to create numerous simulation cases which served as the training database to establish the *** blind validating the trained proxies,we coupled these proxies with particle swarm optimization to conduct production *** training and blind validation results illustrated that the proxies had been excellently developed with coefficient of determination,R2 of *** also compared the optimization results produced by NRS and the *** comparison recorded a good level of accuracy that was within 3%*** proxies were also computationally 3 times faster than ***,the proxies have served their practical purposes in this study.

This paper presents an experimental and analytical study of comprehensive effects of surfactant and polymer in aqueous solutions on the propagation in ***-phase flow tests of surfactant,polymer and surfactant-polymer mixture were respectively conducted on natural carbonate core plugs at high temperature and high salinity reservoir *** effect of different factors on chemical propagation was taken into account by use of a convection-dispersion *** dynamic adsorptions of two amphoteric surfactants at 2000 mg/L concentration onto the carbonate rocks were 0.21 and 0.17 mg/g-rock,*** dynamic adsorptions of a sulfonated polymer at 2000 and 5000 mg/L were 0.11 and 0.17 mg/g-rock,***-polymer mixtures in aqueous solutions were coinjected to evaluate their competitive adsorption,showing the surfactant adsorption was reduced by approximately 50%.The dispersion coefficient of the chemicals in the carbonate cores was in the magnitude of 10^(-3) cm^(2)/*** by dispersion and adsorption,chemical concentration reduction occurred obviously during the propagation in carbonate porous *** separation took place in the surfactant-polymer co-injection scheme,which was estimated by modeling as well.

Dear editor,Globe luxation is defined as complete prolapse of the eyeball outside the orbital cavity with eyelids closed behind the ***,globe luxation can be categorized as traumatic,spontaneous or voluntary;males are affected more than females with an average age of 30 years.[1]Traumatic globe luxation is quite rare in children,with most cases reported in the adult age *** fracture comprises 5%to 25%of all facial fractures in the paediatric age group.[2]In cases with luxation of globe,immediate reposition is crucial for globe and vision *** describe the clinical features,evaluation,and management of globe luxation present at birth following normal vaginal delivery conducted elsewhere.

Accurate prediction of wax deposition is of vital interest in digitalized systems to avoid many issues that interrupt the flow assurance during production of hydrocarbon *** present investigation aims at establishing rigorous intelligent schemes for predicting wax deposition under extensive production *** do so,multilayer perceptron(MLP)optimized with Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm(MLPLMA)and Bayesian Regularization algorithm(MLP-BR)were taught using 88 experimental *** latter were described by some independent variables,namely temperature(in K),specific gravity,and compositions of C1eC3,C4eC7,C8eC15,C16eC22,C23eC29 and C30þ.The obtained results showed that MLP-LMA achieved the best performance with an overall root mean square error of 0.2198 and a coefficient of determination(R2)of *** performance comparison revealed that MLP-LMA outperforms the prior approaches in the literature.

This work describes in detail the experimental investigation of the physico-mechanical properties of nonstructural hemp concrete(usually used as insulating wall material)when the Air-lime based Tradial PF70 binder is partially replaced using *** objective is to reduce the amount of free Ca2+ions in the binder as these are responsible for the degradation of vegetables particles and can therefore induce a loss of mechanical *** order to assess the effectiveness of pozzolanic reaction,amounts of 0%,10%,and 20%*** Air-lime binder were replaced by the Metakaolin material,while testing the mechanical properties of concrete specimens containing 200%and 300%of hemp *** SEM and EDX analysis,a tight relationship has been found to exist between the Metakaolin content and physical-mechanical properties of *** pozzolanic reaction consumes calcium hydroxide from binder to produce Hydrated Calcium Silicates(C-S-H)and in turn,this leads to a decrease in the pH-value of the pore solution which is the main factor responsible for hemp particle degradation.

Colorectal cancer(CRC)is the second deadliest malignancy for both *** BRAF^(V600E)mutation,one of the most common driver mutations in CRC,is known for its poor prognosis due to the increased risk of *** effect of the BRAF^(V600E)mutation on the tumor microenvironment was the topic of the study reported in World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology,with special focus on immune *** authors presented insightful findings that were exclusively based on macrophage polarity and cytokine levels,without investigating other relevant immune elements.A more comprehensive look into the dynamic immune activity of cancer environments will warrant more meaningful practical *** this letter,we discuss other significant immune factors and their possible implications on the tumor microenvironment of BRAF-mutated CRC.
