First Aid Knowledge and Attitude of secondary school students in saudi Arabia

Background: Increasing the number of qualified people, including school students who can play a significant role in first-aid (FA) and basic life support (BLs) arena is a public health demand. Aim: To assess the awareness of saudi secondary school students regarding FA and BLs. Methodology: 360 male secondary school children in Taif, saudi Arabia were surveyed. Results: The mean students’ age was 17.4 ± 1.21 years. The mean participants’ FA knowledge score was 64.8% ± 11%. Generally, trained students reported both better FA knowledge and skills than untrained counter-parts;for 79.6% trained-compared to 53.7% untrained-students recorded such score > 70% [χ2 (df 1) = 11.60, p 70%) [62.3% 2(df 1) = 5.90, p = 0.02] was. Trained students better deal with critical cases, bleeding and bodily injury compared to untrained peers [89.8% vs. 55.9%, χ2 (df 1) = 20.3, p 2 (df 1) = 11.62, p = 0.04;81.6% vs. 67.2%, χ2 (df 1) = 4.13, p = 0.04, respectively]. Only 37.2% of schools had FA incorporated in the education curriculum. Eventually, FA training and the presence of FA group were significant predictors for improved FA knowledge among students [odds ratio (OR) 3.35, 95% CI 1.60 - 7.06;OR 2.28, 95% CI 1.34 - 3.95, respectively). Conclusions: First-aid training is crucial to enhance school children’s FA skills and to thrust their contribution to health emergency control efforts. Incorporating FA training within the educational curriculum of saudi schools is a step forward to disseminate FA message in the community.

AIM:To investigate whether celiac disease(CD)patients with tissue-transglutaminase antibody(tTGA)≥100 U/mL are different from patients with lower tTGA ***:Biopsy-proven(MarshⅢ)pediatric CD patients(n=116)were prospectively included between March 2009 and October *** biopsies were evaluated by a single pathologist who was blinded to all of the patients’clinical *** patients were distributed into 2 groups according to their tTGA level,which was measured using enzyme-linked immunoassay:tTGA≥100 U/mL and Ttgas’characteristics,symptoms,human leukocyte antigen(HLA)genotype and degree of histological involvement were compared between the 2 ***:A total of 34(29.3%)children had tTGA valuess of≥100 U/*** with high tTGA levels had lower average body weight-for-height standard deviation scores(sDs)than did patients with tTGAsDs vs 0.23±1.03 sDs,P=0.025).In the low tTGA group,gastrointestinal symptoms were more common(97.1%vs 75.6%,P=0.006).More specifically,abdominal pain(76.5%vs 51.2%;P=0.012)and nausea(17.6%vs 3.7%,P=0.018)were more frequent among patients with low *** contrast,patients with solely extraintestinal manifestations were only present in the high tTGA group(18.3%,P=0.005).These patients more commonly presented with aphthous stomatitis(15.9%vs 0.0%,P=0.010)and anemia(32.9%vs 11.8%,P=0.019).In addition,when evaluating the number of CD-associated HLA-DQ heterodimers(HLA-DQ2.5,HLA-DQ2.2 and HLA-DQ8),patients with low tTGA levels more commonly had only1 disease-associated heterodimer(61.8%vs 31.7%,P=0.005),while patients with high tTGA more commonly had multiple ***,patients with tTGA≥100 U/mL more often had a MarshⅢc lesion(73.2%vs 20.6%,P≤0.001)while in patients with low tTGA patchy lesions were more common(42.4%vs6.8%,P≤0.001).CONCLUsION:Patients with tTGA≥100 U/mL show several signs of more advanced *** also carry a larger

BACKGROUND Insulin resistance is a risk factor for metabolic syndromes and is associated with a wide variety of metabolic illnesses,including obesity,type 2 diabetes,and cardiovascular *** To investigate and map global insulin resistance *** A bibliometric methodology was applied to the literature retrieved from the scopus database and Reference Citation Analysis(https://***)by using a validated search *** study period was limited from 2002 to *** indicators and mapping were *** A total of 26808 articles on the topic of insulin resistance were included in the scopus *** articles included research articles(n=21918;81.76%),review articles(n=2641;9.85%),and letters(n=653;2.44%).During the study period,136 countries contributed to the research on insulin *** highest number of articles was from the United states(n=7360;27.45%),followed by China(n=3713;13.85%),Japan(n=1730,6.45%),Italy(n=1545;5.54%),and the United Kingdom(n=1484;5.54%).The retrieved articles identified two main research themes:“inflammatory mechanisms in the regulation of insulin resistance”and“mechanisms linking obesity to insulin resistance”.CONCLUsION Our data show that insulin resistance has steadily gained interest from researchers,as evidenced by the number of citations and yearly *** have grown significantly in the last decade,while low-income countries with greater burdens continue to produce fewer publications in this *** approach might assist researchers in choosing new research areas and recognizing research hotspots and *** the future,perhaps high-quality clinical evidence will be acquired.

Background: Patients receiving hemodialysis are suffered from several psychological complications, and they required to receive safe, feasible, and applicable interventions to improve their psychological health. Practicing physical exercises were used in the literature as a possible intervention to improve patient’s outcomes. Purpose: The current literature review aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of physical exercises on psychological status, and sleep quality among patients undergoing hemodialysis, and to detect the gab in the Jordanian literature about the effectiveness of practicing physical exercises on psychological status, and sleep quality among patients undergoing hemodialysis. Methods: The design of the current article was literature review of fifty studies. Results: The current review revealed that most of the research studies were conducted to describe the levels and prevalence’s of psychological and mental complication of hemodialysis process, and to evaluate the impact of different types and methods of physical exercises on physical, psychological, and functional outcomes among patients undergoing hemodialysis. However, there are no agreement about the type, time, and intensity of physical exercises, and its impact on patients’ psychological outcomes. In Jordanian context, there are no experimental studies were conducted about the effectiveness of physical exercises on psychological status and sleep quality among patients undergoing hemodialysis. Conclusion: It is imperative for researchers to fill the gap that existed in the body of knowledge regarding the effectiveness of physical exercises on psychological outcomes among patients undergoing hemodialysis in order to improve psychological well-being and improve both quality of life for patients, and quality of nursing care.

The Poitou-Charentes, located in the Center-West of France, is a region where economy is based mainly on agriculture. This region, made up of 4 Departments (Vienne, Charente, Charente Maritime, Deux-sèvres), is supplied largely by groundwater exploitation, both for consumption and for irrigation. This resource is thus vital to the region and its preservation is a major issue. The objective of this study is the determination of the groundwater quality in the Dogger aquifer of Poitiers (Vienne Department), which is the main water resource for this area and to achieve a better understanding of the factors influencing groundwater mineralization. sixty-six wells, distributed over the study area, were sampled and analyzed for major ions (Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, K+, HCO3-, Cl-, sO42-, NO3-). Data were interpreted using graphical (Piper diagram, binary diagrams) and statistical methods (correlation matrix, principal components analysis). saturation and chloro-alkaline indices were also computed. It is shown that the groundwater mineralization is mainly associated with Ca2+, K+, HCO3-, Cl-, sO42-, and NO3-. Hydrochemistry of groundwater is determined by both natural processes, and anthropogenic factors. Natural factors are dissolution of carbonate and dolomitic minerals, and cation exchanges with clays, while anthropogenic factors are contaminant infiltration with waste waters and agricultural fertilizers. Nitrate is the main contaminant found in the groundwater and makes this resource unsuitable for consumption at some places.

Assessment of Left Ventricular Torsion in Hypertensive Patients

Background: Hypertension has important effects on left ventricle and its early detection helps to avoid the cardiac complications. LV Twist in systole helps in storing potential energy during diastole;LV untwist releases this energy. speckle tracking echocardiography (sTE) is angle-independent so it allows a more detailed evaluation of myocardial deformation. Objective: This work aimed to assess the left ventricular torsion by speckle tracking in hypertensive patients. Patients and Methods: The study was applied on 40 hypertensive patients and 20 age and sex matched control groups;all had speckle tracking echocardiography of the LV, and the basal and apical rotation were measured to assess the LV torsion. The 18 segments of LV strain were assessed and the net LV global longitudinal strain was calculated and demonstrated as bull's eye figure. Results: Hypertensive patients had higher mean values of both apical rotation and left ventricular twist than control group by a highly significant value (9.76 ± 4.98 vs 4.03 ± 2.15, P value 0.001) and (15.25 ± 4.10 vs 9.90 ± 1.47, P value 0.001) respectively. Hypertensive patients had a higher basal rotation than controls but did not reach a significant value (-6.01 ± 3.25 vs -5.52 ± 2.63, P value 0.558). On the contrary, the global LV longitudinal strain was lower in hypertensive patients than control but did not reach a significant value (-18.48 ± 3.94 Vs -19.48 ± 3.57, P value 0.341). Conclusion:Hypertension affects myocardial structure and its systolic and diastolic functions;the left ventricular twist is an essential component of the systolic function that increases in hypertension as an early compensation for the systolic impairment. The detection of these changes achieved accurately by 2-D speckle tracking, can help in monitoring the treatment modalities of the patients for a better direction of treatment and thus, prevent further deterioration.
