Association between Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder and Systemic Lupus Erythematosus: Exacerbation of Major depression Symptoms?

Introduction: Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) usually presents neuropsychiatric manifestations, such as psychosis, convulsion, mood disorder and chronic headache, with mood disorder being the most prevalent. It is also known that other psychiatric disorders and menstrual cycle disorders are frequent in SLE. The aim of this study was to describe for the first time the frequency of premenstrual dysphoric disorder in patients with SLE diagnosis, and its association with depression and anxiety. Material and Methods: An evaluation was made of 62 (sixty-two) patients with diagnosis of SLE, based on the American College of Rheumatology criteria, who received follow-up care at an ambulatory reference center. The patients were submitted to a sociodemographic evaluation questionnaire, upon which the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview (MINI PLUS), Brazilian Version 5.0.0, was used to evaluate the diagnosis. Results: Twenty (32%) patients were found to have premenstrual dysphoric disorder, and there was a statistically significant association with major depression (p = 0.010), but no statistical significance was found with dysthymia (p = 0.063) or anxiety (p = 0.223). Conclusions: The frequency of premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) in patients with SLE was high, as well as the frequency of major depression in this group. There was an association between these two disorders.

The study area is the Urucu Oil Province, Municipality of Coari, State of Amazonas, Brazil. This research represents a contribution to the hydrogeological knowledge in the northern region of Brazil, particularly in the central part of the Amazon rainforest, where researches on isotopic are still incipient. The primary goal was to determine, by stable isotopes 18O and 2H measurements, interrelationships between surface water and groundwater, in order to understand the origin and mechanisms of groundwater recharge and discharge. For this, samples of rainwater, superficial water and groundwater were collected between June 2008 and May 2009 for stable isotopic analyzes. This understanding is important in cases of eventual contaminations of the area, which could degrade the water resources. The results show that the superficial waters are typically light waters and have meteoric origin, and the groundwater recharge is by direct rainfall infiltration with primary evaporation before reaching the groundwater table in the Icá-Solimoes Aquifer System. The isotopic signatures similarities between groundwater and superficial waters indicate both waters’ contributions in the streams and, therefore, in the Urucu river.

Interval colorectal carcinoma:An unsolved debate

Colorectal carcinoma(CRC), as the third most common new cancer diagnosis, poses a significant health risk to the population. Interval CRCs are those that appear after a negative screening test or examination. The development of interval CRCs has been shown to be multifactorial: location of exam-academic institution versus community hospital, experience of the endoscopist, quality of the procedure, age of the patient, flat versus polypoid neoplasia, genetics, hereditary gastrointestinal neoplasia, and most significantly missed or incompletely excised lesions. The rate of interval CRCs has decreased in the last decade, which has been ascribed to an increased understanding of interval disease and technological advances in the screening of high risk individuals. In this article, we aim to review the literature with regard to the multifactorial nature of interval CRCs and provide the most recent developments regarding this important gastrointestinal entity.

Organomineral Phosphorus Fertilization in the Production of Corn,Soybean and Bean Cultivated in Succession

The use of organic waste in agriculture has been used aiming at greater productivity, decrease in the cost of production and sustainable use of resources. The present study aimed at evaluating the effect of phosphate fertilization with the maintenance of organomineral fertilizers, combining poultry manure and soluble or reactive phosphate, in the production of grains in corn culture and the residual effect for subsequent crops of beans and soybeans. The experiment was conducted in Sete Lagoas, MG, in 2015, using three fertilizers with sources of different phosphorus sources (triple super phosphate—STP, organomineral with STP and organomineral with Bayovar phosphate) applied at the doses of 65, 130, 195 and 260 kg·ha¯1 of P2O5 total, and compared to the control without phosphate fertilization. We evaluated the contents of foliar P, P accumulation in the grains, yields of corn grains, beans and soy, accumulated productivity and export of accumulated P of the three cultures. The three cultures assessed presented higher productivity when compared to the average of the factorial treatments that received phosphate fertilization relative to the control. Organomineral fertilizers increased grain production, obtaining average productivity equal to or greater than those obtained with the exclusive use of STP.

In this work,the impact of the doping process on the photoluminescence emission of CaWO_(4) as a function of the concentration of Eu^(3+) cation(0.01 mol%,0.02 mol%,0.04 mol%,0.06 mol%,0.08 mol%,and 0.10 mol%) is discussed in ***_(1-x)WO~4:xEu^(3+) samples were successfully synthesized by a simple coprecipitation method followed by microwave *** blue shift in the absorption edge confirms the quantum confinement effect and the band gap energy covers the range from 3.91 to 4.18 eV,as the amount of Eu^(3+) cations *** experimental results are sustained by first-principles calculations,at the density functional theory level,to decipher the geometry and electronic properties,thereby enabling a more accurate and direct comparison between theory and experiment for the Ca_(1-x)WO_(4):xEu^(3+) structure.

Gastric Gist as Cause of High Digestive Hemorrhage

Introduction: Gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) occurrence is uncommon and usually manifested by nonspecific signs and symptoms, which hinders its reasoning as a diagnostic hypothesis. The objective is to report a case of female GIST with curative treatment through video-laparoscopy with partial gastrectomy. Case report: A 61-year-old female patient attended the Luiz Gioseffi Jannuzzi School Hospital (HELGJ) emergency room, with a sudden onset of upper gastrointestinal bleeding with hemodynamic instability. After stabilization, she was admitted for diagnostic investigation, showing sub-epithelial lesion of antrum in upper digestive endoscopy (Ude) and solid-cystic mass in the gastric antrum to computed tomography (CT). The conduct was the video laparoscopy surgical approach with partial gastrectomy. The histopathological and immunohistochemical aspects of the surgical specimen showed a gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) in a gastric antrum of low grade of malignancy, positive e-Kit and mycotic index (50 cga) Discussion: Compared to the scarce reports in literature, the case described presented typical epidemiology, but the clinical picture was not the most incident. Conclusions: Given the rarity of this pathology cases, it is essential to report these in order to elucidate the specificities and also to discuss diagnostic and therapeutic methods.

Nutrient content affecting Spodoptera frugiperda and Dalbulus maidis occurrence in corn

This work aims to study the effect of the nutrient contents in the leaves of corn on the incidence of Spodopterafrugiperda （Smith）（Lepidoptera： Noctuidae） and Dalbulus maidis （delong ＆ Wolcott）（Homoptera： Cicadellidae）. The treatments were represented by unfertilized corn plants and corn plants fertilized with 250 kg of the formulation 4-14-8 （N- P-K）＋ 100 kg of ammonium sulfate （AS）/ha and 500 kg of the formulation 4-14-8 （N-P-K）＋200 kg of AS/ha, arranged in randomized blocks with four replicates. Attacks by S. frugiperda and D. maidis were higher as the nitrogen, sulfur, calcium and copper content in the leaves of corn increased. The effects of calcium and copper found in this study were not consistent with that of lower susceptibility associated with higher levels of these nutrients mentioned in the literature. We believe that there was a cumulative effect of the nutrients altogether, building up a nutritiously better vegetable which in turn had less reserve for defense, or that the content of both nutrients in the leaves were not high enough to induce such effects.

Since its first description in 2013,robust evidence supporting the efficacy and safety of the endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty(ESG)has been on the rise.A large case series and meta-analysis report supported results up to 24 months,while some other studies already described 5-year *** associated with pharmacotherapy,the ESG may help one to achieve weight loss similar to that of surgical sleeve *** the results of the ongoing randomized trials on ESG are awaited,currently available data support the clinical use of the ESG,especially for patients who are refusing or unfit for bariatric surgery.

Objective: To evaluate the synergic effects of a novel oral supplement formulation, containing prebiotics,yeast b-glucans, minerals and silymarin(Silybum marianum), on lipid and glycidic metabolism, inflammatory and mitochondrial proteins of the liver, in control and high-fat diet-induced obese ***: After an acclimation period, 32 male C57 BL/6 mice were divided into the following groups:nonfat diet(NFD) vehicle, NFD supplemented, high-fat diet(HFD) vehicle and HFD supplemented. The vehicle and experimental formulation were administered orally by gavage once a day during the last four weeks of the diet(28 consecutive days). We then evaluated energy homeostasis, inflammation, and mitochondrial protein expression in these groups of ***: After four weeks of supplementation, study groups experienced reduced glycemia, dyslipidemia,fat, and hepatic fibrosis levels. Additionally, proliferator-activated receptor-α, AMP-activated protein kinase-1α, peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ co-activator-1α, and mitochondrial transcription factor A expression levels were augmented;however, levels of inhibitor of nuclear factor-κB kinase subunit a and p65 nuclear factor-κB expression, and oxidative markers were reduced. Notably, the cortisol/C-reactive protein ratio, a well-characterized marker of the hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal axis immune interface status, was found to be modulated by the ***: We discovered that the novel supplement was able to modify different antioxidant, metabolic and inflammatory pathways, improving the energy homeostasis and inflammatory status, and consequently alleviated hepatic steatosis.
