Industrial activities, through the human-induced release of Green House Gas (GHG) emissions, have beenidentified as the primary cause of global warming. Accurate and quantitative monitoring of these emissions isessential for a comprehensive understanding of their impact on the Earth’s climate and for effectively enforcingemission regulations at a large scale. This work examines the feasibility of detecting and quantifying industrialsmoke plumes using freely accessible geo-satellite imagery. The existing systemhas so many lagging factors such aslimitations in accuracy, robustness, and efficiency and these factors hinder the effectiveness in supporting timelyresponse to industrial fires. In this work, the utilization of grayscale images is done instead of traditional colorimages for smoke plume detection. The dataset was trained through a ResNet-50 model for classification and aU-Net model for segmentation. The dataset consists of images gathered by European space Agency’s sentinel-2 satellite constellation from a selection of industrial sites. The acquired images predominantly capture scenesof industrial locations, some of which exhibit active smoke plume emissions. The performance of the abovementionedtechniques and models is represented by their accuracy and IOU (Intersection-over-Union) *** images are first trained on the basic RGB images where their respective classification using the ResNet-50model results in an accuracy of 94.4% and segmentation using the U-Net Model with an IOU metric of 0.5 andaccuracy of 94% which leads to the detection of exact patches where the smoke plume has occurred. This work hastrained the classification model on grayscale images achieving a good increase in accuracy of 96.4%.

The combination of flow elasticity and inertia has emerged as a viable tool for focusing and manipulating particles using *** there is considerable interest in the field of elasto-inertial microfluidics owing to its potential applications,research on particle focusing has been mostly limited to low Reynolds numbers(Resitions has not been extensively *** this work,we thoroughly studied particle focusing on the dynamic range of flow rates and particle migration using straight microchannels with a single inlet high aspect *** initially explored several parameters that had an impact on particle focusing,such as the particle size,channel dimensions,concentration of viscoelastic fluid,and flow *** experimental work covered a wide range of dimensionless numbers(0.05s numberssenberg numbersticity numbersing 3,5,7,and 10μm *** results showed that the particle size played a dominant role,and by tuning the parameters,particle focusing could be achieved at Reynolds numbers ranging from 0.2(1μL/min)to 85(250μL/min).Furthermore,we numerically and experimentally studied particle migration and reported differential particle migration for high-resolution separations of 5μm,7μm and 10μm particles in a sheathless flow at a throughput of 150μL/*** work elucidates the complex particle transport in elasto-inertial flows and has great potential for the development of high-throughput and high-resolution particle separation for biomedical and environmental applications.

[目的]针对传统“空舱-液舱-空舱”三舱型防护结构重量大、防护效率较低的问题,探讨圆筒型水下防护结构的防护性能。[方法]建立基于任意拉格朗日-欧拉(ALE)算法的数值模型,通过典型的结构接触爆炸算例,验证ALE算法的精度;然后在此基础上分别建立传统的三舱型防护结构和圆筒型防护结构模型,通过数值模拟分析相同药量水下接触爆炸后的应力、应变最大值以及能量吸收等特征参数,从而得到各自的防护性能。[结果]结果显示,圆筒型防护结构防御纵壁的位移小于防水纵壁的位移,这与传统三舱型防护结构的规律相反;甲板、双层底结构吸收的能量相比传统防护结构少了9.92%,具有明显的垂向抗变形优势。[结论]研究表明,圆筒型防护结构在药量相同的情况下其毁伤程度更低,可为水下防护结构的创新设计提供新的思路。

Afamous psychologist or researcher,Daniel Goleman,gave a theory on the importance of Emotional Intelligence for the success of an individual’s *** Goleman quoted in the research that“The contribution of an individual’s Intelligence Quotient(IQ)is only 20%for their success,the remaining 80%is due to Emotional Intelligence(EQ)”.However,in the absence of a reliable technique for EQ evaluation,this factor of overall intelligence is ignored in most of the intelligence evaluation *** research presented an analysis based on basic statistical tools along with more sophisticated deep learning *** proposed cross intelligence evaluation uses two different aspects which are similar,i.e.,EQ and sQ to estimate EQ by using a trained model over sQ *** presented analysis ensures the resemblance between the Emotional and social Intelligence of an *** research authenticates the results over standard statistical tools and is practically inspected by deep learning *** Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire-short Form(TEIQue-sF)and social IQ dataset are deployed over aMulti-layered Long-short TermMemory(M-LsTM)based deep learning model for accessing the resemblance between EQ and *** M-LsTM based trained deep learning model registered,the high positive resemblance between Emotional and social Intelligence and concluded that the resemblance factor between these two is more than 99.84%.This much resemblance allows future researchers to calculate human emotional intelligence with the help of social *** flexibility also allows the use of Big Data available on social networks,to calculate the emotional intelligence of an individual.

U.s. Resilience to large-scale power outages in 2002–2019

Prolonged power outages debilitate the economy and threaten public health. Existing research is generally limitedin its scope to a single event, an outage cause, or a region. Here, we provide one of the most comprehensiveanalyses of large-scale power outages in the U.s. from 2002 to 2019. This analysis is based on the outage datacollected under U.s. federal mandates that concern large blackouts, typically of transmission systems and excludemuch more common but smaller blackouts, typically, of distribution systems. We categorized the data into fouroutage causes and computed reliability metrics, which are commonly used for distribution-level small outagesonly but useful for analyzing large blackouts. Our spatiotemporal analysis reveals six of the most resilient *** since 2010, improvement of power resilience against natural hazards in the south and northeast regions,and a disproportionately large number of human attacks for its population in the Western Electricity CoordinatingCouncil region. Our regression analysis identifies several statistically significant predictors and hypotheses forU.s. resilience to large blackouts. Furthermore, we propose a novel framework for analyzing outage data usingdifferential weighting and influential points to better understand power resilience. To the Editor:Total pancreatectomy with islet cell autotransplantation(TPIAT)is a viable treatment option upon failed endoscopic and medical therapy for patients with chronic *** procedure involves surgical removal of the entire pancreas,isolation of islet cells and reinfusion of these cells into the liver via portal vein[1,2].The risk of contamination to the final islet cell product can occur at several stages of the isolation procedure[3].In order to ensure the sterility of the islet cell product,multiple samples from the preservation and cannulation solution,and the final islet cell product are sent for bacterial *** studies have found variable clinical consequences of these cultures on infectious com-plications or graft function[3-9].Herein we aimed to determine the incidence of infection in 60 days post-TPIAT and its association with the culture data.

Flying an aircraft in low visibility is still a challenging task for the *** requires precise and accurate situational awareness(sA)in real-time.A Head-up Display(HUD)is used to project collimated internal and externalﬂight information on a transparent screen in the pilot’s forwardﬁeld of view,which eliminates the change of eye position between Head-Down-Display(HDD)instru-ments and outer view through the *** of HUD increases the sA and reduces the workload for the *** to provide a betterﬂying capability for the pilot,projecting extensive information on HUD causes human factor issues that reduce pilot performance and lead to accidents in low visibility *** literature shows that human error is the leading cause of more than 70%of aviation *** this study,the ability of the pilot able to read background and symbology information of HUD at a different level of back-ground seen complexity,such as symbology brightness,transition time,amount of symbology,size etc.,in low visibility conditions is *** result shows that increased complexity on the HUD causes more detection errors.

This research aims to quantify driver ride comfort due to changes in damper characteristics between comfort mode and sport mode,considering the vehicle’s inertial *** comfort of riding in an automobile has been evaluated in recent years on the basis of a subjective sensory evaluation given by the ***,reflecting driving sensations in design work to improve ride comfort is abstract in nature and difficult to express ***,we evaluated the human body’s effects while driving scientifically by quantifying the driver’s behavior while operating the steering wheel and the behavior of the automobile while in motion using physical *** this end,we collected driver and vehicle data using amotion capture system and vehicle CAN and IMU *** also constructed a three-dimensional musculoskeletal mathematical model to simulate driver movements and calculate the power and amount of energy per unit of time used for driving the joints and muscles of the human ***,we used comfort mode and sport mode to compare damper characteristics in terms of *** comfort mode,damper characteristics are soft and steering stability is mild,but vibration from the road is not easily transmitted to the driver making for a lighter load on the *** sport mode,on the other hand,damper characteristics are hard and steering stability is comparatively ***,vibration from the road is easily transmitted to the driver,whichmakes it easy for a load to be placed on the *** a result of this comparison,it was found that a load was most likely to be applied to the driver’s *** result in relation to the neck joint can therefore be treated as an objective measure for quantifying ride comfort.
