The present paper explains the temperature attribute of a convective-radiative rectangular profiled annular fin with the impact of magnetic *** effect of thermal radiation,convection,and magnetic field on thermal stress distribution is also studied in this *** governing energy equation representing the steady-state heat conduction,convection,and radiation process is transformed into its dimensionless nonlinear ordinary differential equation(ODE)with corresponding boundary conditions using non-dimensional *** obtained ODE is then solved analytically by employing the Pade approximant-differential transform method(DTM)and modified residual power series method(MRPsM).Moreover,the important characteristics of the temperature field,the thermal stress,and the impact of some nondimensional parameters are inspected graphically,and a physical explanation is provided to aid in *** significant findings of the investigation reveal that temperature distribution enhances with an increase in the magnitude of the heat generation parameter and thermal conductivity parameter,but it gradually decreases with an increment of convectiveconductive parameter,Hartmann number,and radiative-conductive *** thermal stress distribution of the fin varies considerably in the applied magnetic field effect.

Chloramine demand estimation using surrogate chemical and microbiological parameters

A model is developed to enable estimation of chloramine demand in full scale drinking water supplies based on chemical and microbiological factors that affect chloramine decay rate via nonlinear regression analysis *** model is based on organic character（specific ultraviolet absorbance（sUVA）） of the water samples and a laboratory measure of the microbiological（Fm） decay of *** applicability of the model for estimation of chloramine residual（and hence chloramine demand） was tested on several waters from different water treatment plants in Australia through statistical test analysis between the experimental and predicted *** showed that the model was able to simulate and estimate chloramine demand at various times in real drinking water *** elucidate the loss of chloramine over the wide variation of water quality used in this study,the model incorporates both the fast and slow chloramine decay *** significance of estimated fast and slow decay rate constants as the kinetic parameters of the model for three water sources in Australia was *** was found that with the same water source,the kinetic parameters remain the *** modelling approach has the potential to be used by water treatment operators as a decision support tool in order to manage chloramine disinfection.

Determination and assessment of total mercury levels in local, frozen and canned fish in Lebanon

Fish is an important constituent of the Lebanese ***,very little attention in our area is given to bring awareness regarding the effect of the toxicity of mercury （Hg） mainly through fish *** study aimed to report analytical data on total mercury levels in several fish species for the first time in thirty years and to also made individuals aware of the presence and danger from exposure to mercury through fish *** samples were selected from local Lebanese markets and fisheries and included 94 samples of which were fresh,frozen,processed,and canned *** values were reported as microgram of mercury per gram of fish based on wet *** level of mercury ranged from 0.0190 to 0.5700 μg/g in fresh samples,0.0059 to 0.0665 μg/g in frozen samples,and 0.0305 to 0.1190 μg/g in canned *** data clearly showed that higher levels of mercury were detected in local fresh fish as opposed to other types thus placing consumers at higher risk from mercury ***,the data revealed that Mallifa （yellowstripe barracuda/sphyraena chrysotaenia）,sargous （white seabream/Diplodus sargus）,Ghobbos （bogue/Boops boops）,and shrimp （Penaeus sp.） were among the types containing the highest amounts of *** the other hand,processed fish such as fish fillet,fish burger,small shrimp and crab are found to contain lower levels of mercury and are associated with lower exposure risks to *** population should therefore,be aware to consume limited amounts of fresh local fish to minimize exposure to mercury.

The Prevalence and Risk Factors of Elder Abuse during the COVID-19 Pandemic in the Fayoum Governorate,Egypt

Background: Elder abuse has evolved into a global public health and human rights issue. COVID-19 had a significant impact on Egypt’s economic development and style of life. Aim: This research aimed to estimate the prevalence of elder abuse in the Fayoum Governorate of Egypt during the COVID-19 pandemic and assess the prevalence of different elder abuse subtypes and study the effect of different demographic characteristics on these abuse subtypes. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional, descriptive survey among 201 older adults aged 60 and above in the Fayoum Governorate. The structured questionnaire used in the study had three sections: demographic characteristics, the Hwalek- sengstock elder abuse screening test, and the Questions to Elicit Elder Abuse screening tool. Results: This research documented that the prevalence of elder abuse was (72.6%) and the most prevalent types were emotional and neglect abuse (71.1% and 64.7%, respectively). In our study, 22.9% of older adults were exposed to a single type of abuse, 29.9% to two types, 26.9% to three types, and 10.4% to four types. Female is significantly higher than male abuse exposure (66.7% vs. 33.3%). 52.4% versus 7.1% were more likely to be abused than elderly persons who earn enough income. Conclusion: According to this study, emotional and neglect abuse were the most common types of elder abuse. Risk factors for elder abuse included being between the ages of 60 and 70 years, being a woman, residing in a rural location, being illiterate, jobless, married, earning little money, and belonging to a middle-class socioeconomic group. For the general public to better comprehend the consequences of elder abuse on their health and human rights, awareness and education must be increased.

Developing a chloramine decay index to understand nitrification:A case study of two chloraminated drinking water distribution systems

The management of chloramine decay and the prevention of nitrification are some of the critical issues faced by water utilities that use chloramine as a *** this study,potential association between high performance size exclusion chromatography（HPsEC）data obtained with multiple wavelength Ultraviolet（UV） detection from two drinking water distribution systems in Australia and nitrification occurrence was *** increase in the absorbance signal of HPsEC profiles with UV detection at λ = 230 nm between apparent molecular weights of 200 to 1000 Da was observed at sampling sites that experienced rapid chloramine decay and nitrification while its absorbance signal at λ =254 nm decreased.A chloramine decay index（C.D.I） defined as the ratio of area beneath the HPsEC spectra at two different wavelengths of 230 and 254 nm,was used in assessing chloramine decay *** *** of waters at locations that experienced nitrification were consistently higher than locations not experiencing nitrification.A simulated laboratory study showed that the formation of nitrite/nitrate and/or soluble microbial products and/or the release of extracellular polymeric substances（EPs） during nitrification may contribute to the *** findings suggest that C.D.I derived from HPsEC with multiple wavelength UV detection could be an informative index to track the occurrence of rapid chloramine decay and nitrification.

Comparative evaluation of physico-chemical characteristics of biopolyesters P（3HB） and P（3HB-co-3HV） produced by endophytic Bacillus cereus RCL 02

BACKGROUND： Bacteria endogenously residing within the plant tissues have attracted significant attention for production of biopolyester, polyhydroxyalkanoates （PHAs）. Bacillus cereus RCL 02 （MCC 3436）, a leaf endophyte of oleaginous plant Ricinus communis L. accumulates 81% poly（3-hydroxybutyrate） [P（3HB）] of its cell dry biomass when grown in mineral salts （Ms） medium. METHODs： The copolymer production efficiency of B. cereus RCL 02 was evaluated in valeric acid supplemented Ms medium under biphasic cultivation condition. The copolymer so produced has been compared with the P（3HB） isolated from RCL 02 in terms of thermal, mechanical and chemical properties. REsULTs： Valeric acid supplementation as co-substrate in the medium has led to the production of copolymer of 3- hydroxybutyrate （3HB） and 3-hydroxyvalerate （3HV） [P（3HB-co-3HV）] with 14.6 mol% 3HV. The identity of the polymers has been confirmed by X-ray diffraction （XRD） analysis, Fourier transform infrared （FTIR） and nuclear magnetic resonance （NMR） spectroscopic studies. Thermogravimetric analysis （TGA） revealed that P（3HB） and P（3HB-co-3HV） films degraded at 278.66℃ and 273.49℃, respectively. The P（3HB-co-3HV） showed lower melting temperature （165.03℃） compared to P （3HB）（170.74℃） according to differential scanning calorimetry （DsC）. Incorporation of 3HV monomers decreased the tensile strength （21.52 MPa）, tensile modulus （0.93 GPa）, storage modulus （E＇）（0.99 GPa） and increased % elongation at break （12.2%） of the copolyester. However, P（3HB） showed better barrier properties with lower water vapor transmission rate （WVTR） of 0.55 g-mil/100 in2/24 h. CONCLUsION： These findings emphasized exploration of endophytic bacterial strain （RCL 02） to produce biodegradable polyesters which might have significant potential for industrial application.

Memory loss and dementia are major public health concerns with a substantial economic *** stress has been shown to play a crucial role in the pathophysiology of hippocampal damage-induced memory *** investigate whether the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compound vanillyla cetone(zingerone) can protect against hippocampal damage and memory loss induced by cadmium chloride(CdCl_(2)) administration in rats,we explo red the potential involvement of the nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2(Nrf2) signaling pathway,which is known to modulate oxidative stress and *** healt hy male Wistar rats were divided into five groups:vehicle-treated(control),vanillylacetone,CdCl_(2),vanillylacetone+ CdCl_(2),vanillylacetone+ CdCl_(2)+ brusatol(a selective pharmacological N rf2inhibitor) *** effectively attenuated CdCl_(2)-induced damage in the dental gyrus of the hippocampus and improved the memory function assessed by the Morris Water Maze ***,vanillylacetone markedly decreased the hippocampal tissue levels of inflammatory biomarkers(interleukin-6,tumor necrosis factor-α,intracellular cell adhesive molecules) and apoptosis biomarkers(Bax and cleaved caspase-3).The control and CdCl_(2)-treated groups treated with va nillylacetone showed reduced generation of reactive oxygen species,decreased malondialdehyde levels,and increased superoxide dismutase and glutathione activities,along with significant elevation of nuclear Nrf2 mRNA and protein expression in hippocampal *** the protective effects of vanillylacetone we re substantially blocked by the co-administration of brusatol(a selective N rf2 inhibitor).Va nillylacetone mitigated hippocampal damage and memory loss induced by CdCl_(2),at least in part, by activating the nuclear transcription factor ***,vanillylacetone exerted its potent antioxidant and antiinflammatory actions.

Response surface Methodology and Artificial Neural Network Methods Comparative Assessment for Fuel Rich and Fuel Lean Catalytic Combustion

Modeling, predictive and generalization capabilities of response surface methodology (RsM) and artificial neural network (ANN) have been performed to assess the thermal structure of the experimentally studied catalytic combustion of stabilized confined turbulent gaseous diffusion flames. The Pt/γAlsub>2sub>Osub>3sub> and Pd/γAlsub>2sub>Osub>3sub> disc burners were located in the combustion domain and the experiments were accomplished under both fuel-rich and fuel-lean conditions at a modified equivalence (fuel/air) ratio (øspan>) of 0.75 and 0.25, respectively. The thermal structure of these catalytic flames developed over the Pt and Pd disc burners was scrutinized via measuring the mean temperature profiles in the radial direction at different discrete axial locations along with the flames. The RSM and ANN methods investigated the effect of the two operating parameters namely (r), the radial distance from the center line of the flame, and (x), axial distance along with the flame over the disc, on the measured temperature of the flames and predicted the corresponding temperatures beside predicting the maximum temperature and the corresponding input process variables. A three-layered Feed Forward Neural Network was developed in conjugation with the hyperbolic tangent sigmoid (tansig) transfer function and an optimized topology of 2:10:1 (input neurons:hidden neurons:output neurons).
