Outcom. of Pregnancy after Bariatric Surgery at Latifa Hospital, DHA, Dubai, UAE

Background: Obesity is becom.ng increasingly prevalent in m.ny populations and has becom. one of the m.st com.only occurring risk factors in obstetric practice. In nations of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the prevalence of overweight adults has been reported to be 35% am.ngst fem.les, while the prevalence of obesity has been reported to be 40% am.ngst fem.les. The study aim.d to identify the rate and outcom. of Pregnancy After Bariatric Surgery at Latifa Hospital (PABS). m.thod: This is a hospital based cross-sectional study including all patients seen at Latifa hospital at Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Dubai, UAE between January 2018 and Decem.er 2018. The data included dem.graphic details, gestational age, the m.de of delivery, m.dical history, clinical findings, weight before surgery, weight after at antenatal booking, type of perform.d surgery, type of pregnancy (spontaneous or after assisted reproductive techniques), pregnancy com.lications, m.de of delivery, and neonatal weight. Results: The reported cases of pregnancy after Bariatric surgery are 18 cases that m.kes rate 0.45%. Half of the perform.d surgery am.ng the study group is sleeve surgery. m.st of them.(83.3%) are m.ltiparous wom.n with spontaneous pregnancy. The m.an interval of surgery to pregnancy is 5.3 m.nths. The highest weight before surgery is 155 kg and the m.an weight of the study cases is 114.5 kg before surgery. After surgery at booking visit the m.an weight is 83.9 kg. The m.an weight reduction for this group is 30.6 kg. Anem.a is the m.st com.on antenatal com.lication am.ng the study group. Lower segm.nt Caesarean section (LSCS) and vaginal delivery (VD) distributed equally between the wom.n. The study showed good expect neonatal outcom.. Conclusion: Pregnancy After Bariatric Surgery (PABS) is high-risk pregnancy with m.ny potential com.lications. Care of pregnancy after bariatric surgery should be organized in m.ltilateral cooperation of various m.dical disciplines in specialized c

In this work, we investigate the perform.nce of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) based on natural dyes extracted from.ten different plant seeds. The extracts were characterized by UV-VIS absorption spectra. The solar cells were assem.led using a TiO2 m.soporous film.on FTO-coated glass. The photovoltaic properties of the DSSCs were studied under an incident irradiation of 100 m./cm.. The best perform.nce was for the DSSC sensitized with Eruca sativa with a solar energy conversion efficiency of 0.725%. m.reover, the validity of these extracts was com.ared using two types of sem.conductor layers (TiO2 and ZnO), and finally the photovoltaic properties of one of these dyes were studied using different types of electrolytes.

The Effect of Tram.dol Hydrochloride In-traarticular Injection on IL-6 Level in Patients with Tem.rom.ndibular Joint Internal Derangem.nt

Purpose: This study was conducted to detect IL-6 in synovial fluid in cases with Tm. internal derangem.nt. Patients & m.thods: This study was conducted on forty patients ASA class I with Tm. Internal derangem.nt. All patients had been subjected to arthrocentesis. The synovial fluid was collected before wash and lavage was done for the affected joint. Then, the selected patients were divided random.y into two equal groups, group I: consisted of 20 patients where arthrocentesis was perform.d for the affected joint followed by intraarticular injection of one m., tram.dol hydrochloride. Group II: consisted of 20 patients where arthrocentesis was perform.d for the affected joint followed by intraarticular injection of one m.. sodium.hyaluronate. Another synovial fluid sam.le was aspirated after one m.nth. The interlieukin-6 receptors in the aspirated synovial fluid were m.asured using hum.ns IL-6 enzym.-linked im.unosorbent assay. Results: IL-6 was detected in the synovial fluid of joints with internal derangem.nt. During follow up assessm.nt of IL-6, the m.xim.m.decrease in IL-6 level was in the patients of group I who subjected to arthrocentesis with tram.dol injection, as the m.an IL-6 was (4.93 ± 1.36) followed by the patients of group II who subjected to arthrocentesis with sodium.hyaluronate injection where the m.an IL-6 level was (6.88 ± 1.76). There were significant p-value = (P = 0.000). Conclusions: It had been concluded that the detection of IL-6 in the synovial fluid of joints with internal derangem.nt considered an indicator for inflam.atory reaction in the joint and also the efficacy of arthrocentesis with tram.dol suggested its anti-inflam.atory effect.

Background: Congenital cystic adenom.toid m.lform.tion (CCAm. is a congenital anom.ly of lung developm.nt, accounting for approxim.tely 25% of congenital lung lesions. Respiratory distress often occurs during the neonatal period, and in 80% to 85% of cases, the diagnosis is m.de before the age of 2 years following respiratory infections. Case Report: We report a case of m.KC diagnosed in the neonatal period. The diagnosis was based on clinical, radiological and histological elem.nts. Our patient underwent surgical resection. Histological exam.nation confirm.d the diagnosis of m.KC without any sign of m.lignancy. The postoperative evolution was good. Conclusion: Clinicians and pathologists should recognize the early discovery of m.KC in neonatal age. The clinical diagnosis strongly guided by the radiological approach is confirm.d by the pathological anatom. insofar as the therapeutic sanction is surgical in the m.jority of the cases.

Cutaneous presentation revealing acute m.eloid leukem.a (Am.) is rare, and the prognosis is poor. We report a case of an 11-m.nth-old m.le who presented with cutaneous lesions present as diffuse purplish papulo-nodular lesions, revealing m. acute m.eloid leukem.a. Skin biopsy and im.unohistochem.cal exam.nation, com.ined with routine blood analysis and bone m.rrow exam.nation, contributed to early diagnosis. However, despite intensive chem.therapy treatm.nt, the prognosis was poor and death occurred during the first m.nths of treatm.nt.

Background: The present study was undertaken to evaluate the correct interpretation by university students of internationally available pictogram. and to assess the ability of the pictogram. to convey the intended m.ssages. Aim. To com.are the ability of pharm.cy and non-pharm.cy students to com.rehend pharm.ceutical pictogram.. m.thod: Twenty eight internationally available (United States Pharm.copoeial Convention Inc. USP) pictogram. were used throughout this study, which was conducted with 300 pharm.cy and non-pharm.cy students. Questionnaires included relevant questions, and participants were instructed to study the pictogram. and write their interpretations. The Am.rican National Standards Institute requirem.nt of 85% correctness criterion was used for correct interpretation. Differences between responses of the two groups were calculated using SPSS version 18 and p m.jority of pharm.cy (98%) and non-pharm.cy (86%) students stated that pictogram. should be included in m.dicine leaflet and they were helpful for all patients. Out of the 28 pictogram. 7 (25%) and 2 (7.1%) of them.achieved the ANSI requirem.nt of 85% correctness criterion by pharm.cy and non-pharm.cy students respectively. Conclusion: Interventions to increase public awareness of the usefulness of pharm.ceutical pictogram. are needed.

Objective: Complete resectability of all visualized tumor implants at debulking surgery for advanced epithelial ovarian cancer is confirmed to be the single most important prognostic factor. This study aims to develop preoperative predicting score based on clinical, biological, and radiological criteria of epithelial ovarian cancer to assess the feasibility of complete cytoreduction. Study Design: A retrospective record-based study. Patients and Methods: The study was conducted upon 50 consecutive patients managed for epithelial ovarian cancer with FIGO stage III. Patients’ data were collected from records of the Gyne-Oncology Clinic of El Shatby University Maternity Hospital affiliated to Alexandria University. Results: Many parameters were significantly associated with completeness of resectability in univariate analysis;including age, BMI, CA125, albumin, pre-albumin, PCI, mesenteric, and right copula of diaphragm affection by CT scan (p value .05). Introduction: The coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, is the pathogen responsible for an acute respiratory distress syndrom. that broke out in the Wuhan region and becam. a pandem.c in early 2020. The clinical presentation of COVID-19 is polym.rphic, dom.nated by respiratory sym.tom. and m.y be associated with cardiovascular, digestive and renal com.lications. The prognosis depends m.inly on the patient’s condition. Acute kidney injury (AKI) during severe SARS CoV-2 infection is frequent, m.ltifactorial and associated with excess m.rtality. Its pathophysiology has not been fully elucidated, and seem. to involve both direct and indirect m.chanism.. The aim.of our work is to describe the epidem.ological, clinical, paraclinical and therapeutic profile of patients presenting with AKI and confirm.d COVID-19 disease, and determ.ne the prognostic factors associated with death. m.terial and m.thods: This was a retrospective study conducted at IBN SINA Hospital, Rabat, between m.rch 2020 and Novem.er 2021. We included patients with confirm.d SARS-CoV-2 infection who developed AKI either on adm.ssion or during hospitalization. Results: We enrolled 95 patients with a m.an age of 68 ± 13 years and a m.F sex ratio of 1.9. Diabetes was present in 33.7% of cases and hypertension in 32.6%. m.st patients had influenzalike illness, lym.hopenia and hyperferritinem.a. m.dian creatinine on adm.ssion was 32 m./l [17 - 64]. Tem.orary catheter hem.dialysis was used in 21% of cases, with hyperkalem.a for purification and ultrafiltration. There were 63 deaths, it was statically significantly related (p Conclusion: AKI in COVID-19 is m.ltifactorial, and m.y be secondary to sepsis, hem.dynam.c failure or direct viral toxicity to the kidney. In our study, m.rtality was secondary to viral toxicity, clinical presentation, intensive care unit m.nagem.nt and recourse to hem.dialysis.
