Zinc Chloride Protects against Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetic Nephropathy in Rats

Diabetes m.llitus (Dm. is a health problem.affecting m.llions of individuals worldwide. Diabetic nephropathy (DN), as a significant com.lication of Dm. has becom. the m.st com.on cause of endstage renal failure. Oxidative stress constitutes the key and com.on events in the pathogenesis of DN and antioxidants m.y play a beneficial role in its prevention. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of Zinc Chloride on streptozotocin-induced diabetic nephropathy in rats com.ared to Gliclazide, a reference antidiabetic agent. Results showed that Zinc Chloride was able to control STZ-induced DN in rats as it norm.lized the elevated blood pressure, the increased insulin release, and the decreased blood glucose level. Zinc Chloride also im.roved kidney function as determ.ned by the restoration of blood urea and creatinine level. Finally, Zinc Chloride was able to boost the antioxidant defenses of the kidney by increasing the reduced glutathione content and decreasing lipid peroxides content in addition to significantly decreasing kidney nitric oxide content com.ared to diabetic control rats. These results suggest that exposure to Zinc Chloride can protect from.diabetic nephropathy and can be used as an adjuvant approach to treatm.nt and prevention of renal dam.ge.

Date palm.pit(DPP)-filled poly(-hydroxybutyrate)(PHB)com.osites were prepared,evaluated,and characterized to determ.ne their therm.l insulation *** conductivity values ranged between 0.086 and 0.100 W/(m.K).At a m.xim.m.filler concentration(50%(w)),the specific heat capacity and therm.l diffusivity were 1183 J/(kg·K)and 0.0689 m.^(2)/s,*** DPP increased the therm.l stability,and the highest com.ressive strength obtained was 80 m.a at 30%filler *** PHB-DPP com.osites exhibited prom.sing water absorption(less than 6%)and tensile strength(6-14 m.a).Date-pit-based PHB com.osites could be used in sustainable building engineering and cleaner production.

m.m.ry loss and dem.ntia are m.jor public health concerns with a substantial econom.c *** stress has been shown to play a crucial role in the pathophysiology of hippocam.al dam.ge-induced m.m.ry *** investigate whether the antioxidant and anti-inflam.atory com.ound vanillyla cetone(zingerone) can protect against hippocam.al dam.ge and m.m.ry loss induced by cadm.um.chloride(CdCl_(2)) adm.nistration in rats,we explo red the potential involvem.nt of the nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2(Nrf2) signaling pathway,which is known to m.dulate oxidative stress and *** healt hy m.le Wistar rats were divided into five groups:vehicle-treated(control),vanillylacetone,CdCl_(2),vanillylacetone+ CdCl_(2),vanillylacetone+ CdCl_(2)+ brusatol(a selective pharm.cological N rf2inhibitor) *** effectively attenuated CdCl_(2)-induced dam.ge in the dental gyrus of the hippocam.us and im.roved the m.m.ry function assessed by the m.rris Water m.ze ***,vanillylacetone m.rkedly decreased the hippocam.al tissue levels of inflam.atory biom.rkers(interleukin-6,tum.r necrosis factor-α,intracellular cell adhesive m.lecules) and apoptosis biom.rkers(Bax and cleaved caspase-3).The control and CdCl_(2)-treated groups treated with va nillylacetone showed reduced generation of reactive oxygen species,decreased m.londialdehyde levels,and increased superoxide dism.tase and glutathione activities,along with significant elevation of nuclear Nrf2 m.NA and protein expression in hippocam.al *** the protective effects of vanillylacetone we re substantially blocked by the co-adm.nistration of brusatol(a selective N rf2 inhibitor).Va nillylacetone m.tigated hippocam.al dam.ge and m.m.ry loss induced by CdCl_(2),at least in part, by activating the nuclear transcription factor ***,vanillylacetone exerted its potent antioxidant and antiinflam.atory actions.

Background:Intim.te partner violence(IPV)is a worldwide issue with a high prevalence rate seen *** and Objectives:To plan and im.lem.nt preventive m.asures,it is im.ortant to understand the characteristics,background,and m.dico-legal significance,especially from.the perspective of *** and m.thods:This study is a questionnaire-based retrospective study conducted am.ng perpetrators of IPV who presented to a tertiary care hospital in Sri ***:Out of 325 subjects,97.2%were m.les and 64.0%were aged 26–45 ***(80.9%)perpetrators were older than the victim.zed partner,with a m.an age gap of 4.3 *** 2.8%had achieved higher education and 78.5%had been m.rried to the victim.for m.re than5 *** and/or other substances were abused by 75.4%and 11.1%of them.were diagnosed with a psychiatric *** have been exposed to child abuse(CA)as m.nors(50.1%),with physical CA being the m.st com.on,whereas 42.5%had witnessed IPV during their ***-treatm.nt by the spouse(odds ratio[OR]=24[95%confidence interval(CI):5.6,99.9])and substance use(OR=22[95%CI:5.1,91.5])were significantly associated with perpetrating em.tional violence.A victim.having an extram.rital affair was 5.1 tim.s m.re likely to be subjected to sexual IPV,whereas previous IPV,parental deprivation,and affairs of perpetrator were proved to be protective *** had negatively affected the econom. of 71.3%of *** procedures were expected by 22.4%,whereas 60%wanted to negotiate with their ***:Fam.lies having low incom. and alcohol/substance abuse should be targeted to plan preventive program. at the com.unity *** counseling and follow-up of victim. of CA can be used as a prim.ry preventive m.asure of IPV.

Electrical and dielectric properties of Na_(1/2)La_(1/2)Cu_3Ti_4O_(12) ceram.cs prepared by high energy ball-m.lling and conventional sintering

We report on the m.asurem.nts of the electrical and dielectric properties of Na1/2La1/2Cu3Ti4O12 （NLCTO） ce- ram.cs prepared by high energy ball-m.lling and conventional sintering without any calcination steps. The x-ray powder diffraction analysis shows that pure perovskite-like CCTO phase is obtained after sintering at 1025 ℃-1075 ℃. Higher sintering tem.eratures result in m.lti-phase ceram.cs due to therm.l decom.osition. Scanning electron m.croscope observations reveal that the grain size is in a range of - 3 μm.5 μm.for these ceram.cs. Im.edance spectroscopy m.asurem.nts perform.d in a wide frequency range （1 Hz-10 m.z） and at various tem.eratures （120 K-470 K） are used to study the dielectric and electrical properties of NLCTO ceram.cs. A good com.rom.se between high ε′ （5.7 ×10^3 and 4.1 × 10^3 at 1.1 kHz and 96 kHz, respectively） and low tan δ （0.161 and 0.126 at 1.1 kHz and 96 kHz, respectively） is obtained for the ceram.c sintered at 1050 ℃. The observed high dielectric constant behavior is explained in term. of the internal barrier layer capacitance effect.

Na0.5Sm..5Cu3Ti4O12(NSCTO) ceram.cs have been prepared by reactive sintering of am.rphous *** plasm. sintering(SPS) for 10 m.n at 1025℃ and conventional sintering(CS) for 10 h at 1090℃ have been em.loyed.X-ray diffraction m.asurem.nts confirm.d the pure CCTO-like phase for SPS and CS NSCTO *** SPS ceram.c showed an average grain size of 500 nm. which is m.ch sm.ller than that of the CS(~ 5 μm. *** im.edance spectroscopy m.asurem.nts revealed an electrically inhom.geneous structure in the prepared *** the resistivities of grains of both ceram.c sam.les were in the sam. order of m.gnitude, the resistivity of grain-boundaries of the CS ceram.c was three orders of m.gnitude greater than that of the SPS *** of the sam.les showed giant dielectric constant(> 10^3) over wide ranges of tem.eratures and ***, the room.tem.erature dielectric loss of the SPS NSCTO(3.2 at 1.1 kHz) ceram.c sam.le was higher than that of the CS NSCTO(0.08 at 1.1 kHz) ceram.c sam.le due to the reduced grain-boundary resistivity of the *** dielectric relaxations were detected for each sam.le and attributed to the relaxations in grains and *** dielectric behavior of the SPS and CS NSCTO ceram.cs could be interpreted in term. of the internal barrier layer capacitor(IBLC) m.del.

Prognostic Factors in Cardiorenal Syndrom. Type 1: Retrospective Observational and Analytical Study

Introduction: Type 1 cardiorenal syndrom. (CRS 1) is characterized by acute im.airm.nt of cardiac function leading to acute renal dysfunction. CRS1 is present in 25% of patients adm.tted for heart failure. The objective of our study is to analyze the epidem.ological, clinical, therapeutic profile and the risk and prognostic factors of these patients. m.terials and m.thods: We identified 120 patients with cardiorenal syndrom. (CRS) over a one-year period to determ.ne the prevalence and risk factors for developing CRS 1. We analyzed the clinical, biological, and evolutionary profiles of patients with CRS 1 and determ.ned the risk factors for the occurrence of acute kidney injury (AKI) as well as the m.rtality factors in these patients. Résultats: The average age of our patients with CRS1 is 58 ± 9 years, with a sex ratio of 1.4. The average eGFR of our patients is 35 ± 6.5 m./m.n/1.73m.. Diabetes was found in 17% of our patients and hypertension in 14%. The etiology of cardiac im.airm.nt is predom.nantly acute coronary syndrom. (ACS), followed by rhythm.disorders. Renally, all our patients have acute kidney injury (AKI), with 86% having functional acute renal failure and 14% having acute tubular necrosis. Therapeutically, 50% of our patients are on diuretics, 42% receive beta-blocker treatm.nt, and RAAS blockers are used in 29% of cases. Renal replacem.nt therapy (RRT) sessions were required in 13.8% of cases. In univariate analysis, m.le gender, tachyarrhythm.a, and hypertension are associated with the early onset of acute kidney injury (AKI). The use of diuretics, anem.a, and low left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) are linked to a higher risk of developing CRS 1 (p = 0.021, p = 0.037, p = 0.010 respectively). In m.ltivariate analysis, advanced age is significantly associated with increased m.rtality risk in CRS 1 patients (p = 0.030), while beta-blocker use is considered a protective factor (p = 0.014).
