Additive manufacturing(AM)technologies are currently employed for the manufacturing of completely functional parts and have gained the attention of hightechnology industries such as the aerospace,automotive,and biomedical fields.This is mainly due to their advantages in terms of low material waste and high productivity,particularly owing to the flexibility in the geometries that can be generated.In the tooling industry,specifically the manufacturing of dies and molds,AM technologies enable the generation of complex shapes,internal cooling channels,the repair of damaged dies and molds,and an improved performance of dies and molds employing multipleAMmaterials.Inthepresentpaper,a reviewof AM processes and materials applied in the tooling industry for the generation of dies and molds is addressed.AM technologies used for tooling applications and the characteristics of the materials employed in this industry are first presented.In addition,the most relevant state-of-the-art approaches are analyzed with respect to the process parameters and microstructural and mechanical properties in the processing of high-performance tooling materials used in AM processes.Concretely,studies on the AM of ferrous(maraging steels and H13 steel alloy)and non-ferrous(stellite alloys and WC alloys)tooling alloys are also analyzed.

目的本研究旨在调查组合锻炼项目对居住在长期养老院的老年人的健康相关生活质量和抑郁症状的影响。方法采用类实验研究设计。在西班牙北部巴斯克地区最大的长期养老院中便利选取41名老年人,并分为干预组(21名)和对照组(20名)。干预组接受50 min中等强度的组合锻炼干预课程(力量和平衡,每周3次,为期3个月)。对照组继续进行他们在长期疗养院中的常规活动。在干预前(基线时)、干预后(12周后)采用健康调查简表(the Short Form Health Survey,SF-36)和简版老年抑郁量表(Geriatric Depression Scale,GDS)对老年人的健康相关生活质量和抑郁症状进行调查,并比较两组的干预效果。结果共38名老年人完成研究(每组19例)。干预组中,干预后老年人身体功能得分比干预前增加11.06分(增加17.2%);角色情感方面得分比干预前提高5.27分(增加29.1%)(P0.05)。结论尽管本研究结果中组合锻炼对养老院院老年人健康相关的生活质量和抑郁症状的改善没有显示统计学意义,但增加样本量可能证实其有效性。这些结果有助于为未来的研究设计提供信息。

Isolated bilateral Tapia's syndrome after liver transplantation: A case report and review of the literature

AIM To describe one case of bilateral Tapia's syndrome in a liver transplanted patient and to review the literature.METHODS We report a case of bilateral Tapia's syndrome in a 50-year-old man with a history of human immunodeficiency virus and hepatitis C virus child. A liver cirrhosis and a bi-nodular hepatocellular carcinoma, who underwent liver transplantation after general anesthesia under orotracheal intubation. Uneventful extubation was performed in the intensive care unit during the following hours. On postoperative day(POD) 3, he required urgent re-laparotomy due to perihepatic hematoma complicated with respiratory gram negative bacilli infection. On POD 13, patient was extubated, but required immediate re-intubation due to severe respiratory failure. At the following day a third weaning failure occurred, requiring the performance of a percutaneous tracheostomy. Five days later, the patient was taken off mechanical ventilation and severe dysphagia, sialorrea and aphonia revealed. A computerized tomography and a magnetic resonance imaging of the head and neck excluded central nervous injury. A stroboscopy showed bilateral paralysis of vocal cords and tongue and a diagnosis of bilateral Tapia's syndrome was performed. With conservative management, including a prompt establishment of a speech and swallowing rehabilitation program, the patient achieved full recovery within four months after liver transplantation. We carried out MEDLINE search for the term Tapia's syndrome. The inclusion criteria had no restriction by language or year but must provide sufficientavailable data to exclude duplicity. We described the clinical evolution of the patients, focusing on author, year of publication, age, sex, preceding problem, history of endotracheal intubation, unilateral or bilateral presentation, diagnostic procedures, type of treatment, follow-up, and outcome.RESULTS Several authors mentioned the existence of around 70 cases, however only 54 fulfilled our inclusion criteria. The NLRP3-IL-1β pathway plays an important role in adipose tissue(AT)-induced inflammation and the development of obesityassociated comorbidities.We aimed to determine the impact of NLRP3 on obesity and its associated metabolic alterations as well as its role in adipocyte inflammation and extracellular matrix(ECM)remodeling.Samples obtained from 98 subjects were used in a case-control study.The expression of different components of the inflammasome as well as their main effectors and inflammation-and ECM remodeling-related genes were analyzed.The impact of blocking NLRP3 using siRNA in lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-mediated inflammation and ECM remodeling signaling pathways was evaluated.We demonstrated that obesity(Prosis(COL1A1,COL4A3,COL6A3 and MMP2).These novel findings provide evidence that blocking the expression of NLRP3 reduces AT inflammation with significant fibrosis attenuation.

Background To describe the cutaneous acral findings in a pediatric population noticed during this pandemic.Methods A retrospective descriptive study was performed collecting data on 36 patients under 14 years old,presenting suspicious acral skin manifestations for coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).Results Patients were mostly male(63.8%).The mean age was 11.11 years.66.67%of patients showed erythematous papules,and 44.44%purpuric macules.Feet were aifected in 97.22%of patients and hands in 5.55%.Lesions were asymptomatic in 50%of patients.30.55%of patients showed extracutaneous findings,preceding skin lesions in 12.62 days.Seven patients underwent specific severe acute coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)testing;all of these patients tested negative.Conclusions The association between these symptoms and SARS-CoV-2 remains unclear.We recommend using these manifestations as a sign of SARS-CoV-2 infection in children.This could lead to the examination of asymptomatic and mildly symptomatic children so that contagions may be avoided.

Capillary hydrodynamic fractionation(CHDF) with turbidity detection at a single wavelength is an analytical technique that is often used for sizing the sub-micrometric particles of hydrophobic colloids.This article investigates three sources of errors that affect the particle size distribution(PSD) estimated by CHDF:diameter calibration errors,uncertainties in the particle refractive index(PRI),and instrumental broadening(IB).The study is based on simulated and experimental examples that involve unimodal and bimodal PSDs.Small errors in the diameter calibration curve can produce important deviations in the number average diameter due to systematic shifts suffered by the PSD modes.Moderate uncertainties in the PRI are unimportant in the analysis of unimodal PSDs,but in the specific case of bimodal PSDs,errors in the PRI can strongly affect the estimated number concentration of each mode.The typical IB correction(based on the IB function estimated from narrow standards) produces slightly erroneous average diameters but can lead to PSDs with underestimated widths and distorted shapes.In practice,the three investigated sources of errors can be present simultaneously,and uncertainties in the average diameters,the shape and width of the PSD,and the number concentration of the PSD modes are unavoidable.
