Lipid metabolism disorders would be among the components responsible for the risk of the onset of T2DM and its vascular complications. Apolipoprotein E plays an important role in lipid metabolism. We studied the involvement of the APOE gene in the onset of T2DM and its vascular complications. Clinical and biochemical parameters were assessed in each participant. APOE genotypes were identified by PCR-RFLP. Arterial stiffness was studied using a pOpmetre® which evaluates the pulse wave velocity (ft-PWV). Endothelial dysfunction was studied using an EndoPAT2000® which measures endothelium-dependent vasodilation (RHI). In control subjects, the ε3 allele was associated with an increase in fasting blood glucose (r = 2.36, p = 0.018), and a decrease in LDL cholesterol levels (r = −2.17, p = 0.03), and ε4 was associated with an increase in total cholesterol (r = 2.59, p = 0.01), LDL cholesterol (r = 2.84, p = 0.004), and No-HDL cholesterol (r = 2.74, p = 0.006). In type 2 diabetes subjects, the ε2 was associated with a decrease in diastolic blood pressure (r = −2.25, p = 0.02). The ε3 was associated with a decrease in ft-PWV (r = −2.26, p = 0.024) while the ε4 was associated with an increase in ft-PWV (r = 2.52, p = 0.012). Carrying the ε2ε3 genotype would have in 99% a limited risk of developing T2DM, and in event of T2DM, only 1 to 2% would have a significant risk of developing atherosclerosis, which would be severe in 17%. Of the ε2ε4 genotype, 93% had a limited or even possible risk of developing T2DM, the remaining 7% had a very high risk of developing T2DM. Diabetics carrying ε2ε4 had in 7% very high risk of developing atherosclerosis. The latter had a 20% very high risk of being very severe. Subjects carrying the ε3ε4 genotype had a 67% possible or even probable risk of developing T2DM and in the event of diabetes, there was in 34% very high risk of developing atherosclerosis which will not have even the time to evolve towards severity. Improving Global Performance on GPU for Algorithms with main Loop Containing a Reduction Operation: Case of Dijkstra’s Algorithm

In this paper, we study the impact of copying data in GPU computing. GPU computing allows implementing parallel computations at low cost: a GPU can be purchased at under USD 500. many studies have shown that GPU can be used to speed up the calculations. But for algorithms requiring doing a part of the calculations on GPU and another part on CPU, alternately, latency due to the copy of the data is a performance degradation factor. To illustrate this, we consider the Dijkstra’s algorithm on the shortest path used in solving optimization problems. This algorithm is very heavy to run on sequential machine. So, we are considering a parallel approach on GPU. Note that Dijkstra’s algorithm has been subject of many implementations on GPU. In the present work, we use two platforms with external GPU. Graphs are represented in adjacency matrix. During the computation of this algorithm, intermediates results are copied from GPU to CPU or from CPU to GPU. The purpose of this work is to measure the impact of these copies in the overall performance of the algorithm. For that we calculate time due to the copying data’s implementation;then we compare results with implementation computing only on CPU memory (zero-copy). The real impact shown by experiments demonstrates the interest of this study. GP-GPU programmers have to think that they will use either memory zero-copy or GPU memory. The challenge for GPU’s manufacturers is how to reduce this impact.

Diagnosis and Therapeutic Aspects of the Ileo-Sigmoidian Node in the General Surgery Department of gabriel Toure Chu

Introduction: Emergency medico-surgical ileosigmoid node is a rare cause of intestinal obstruction. Diagnosis and treatment must be prompt. Objective: To determine the frequency of NIS, to describe the diagnostic aspects, therapeutic aspects and to analyze the postoperative effects. Methodology: Retrospective and prospective study from January 2006 to December 2020 including all patients operated on for ileosigmoid node confirmed by the intraoperative diagnosis at the CHU Gabriel Touré. Results: From January 2006 to December 2020 (15 years), 30 cases of ileo-sigmoid node were recorded in the service. During this period NIS accounted for 0.19% of surgeries. Abdominal pain was present in (100%) of cases, vomiting was present in 80% and cessation of materials and gas (57%). All of our patients underwent ASP and CT (1 case). All of our patients were operated on, and exploration revealed intestinal necrosis in 97%. The surgical procedures performed were colostomy according to HARTMANN (63%), anastomosis resection (16%), devolvulation (10%). Restoration of continuity was achieved in (73%). The postoperative consequences were straightforward in (80%). Morbidity was 17% including infection of the lining. Mortality was 3% (1 case). Conclusion:<

Comparative Study of the Parallelization of the Smith-Waterman Algorithm on OpenMP and Cuda C

In this paper, we present parallel programming approaches to calculate the values of the cells in matrix’s scoring used in the Smith-Waterman’s algorithm for sequence alignment. This algorithm, well known in bioinformatics for its applications, is unfortunately time-consuming on a serial computer. We use formulation based on anti-diagonals structure of data. This representation focuses on parallelizable parts of the algorithm without changing the initial formulation of the algorithm. Approaching data in that way give us a formulation more flexible. To examine this approach, we encode it in OpenMP and Cuda C. The performance obtained shows the interest of our paper.

Subacute Hyperthyroidism Induced by Treatment with Lithium Salts

Lithium treatment is usually indicated in bipolar disorder. It is associated with hypothyroidism and very rarely with hyperthyroidism. We report here the results of the exploration of a case of thyrotoxicosis occurring during treatment with lithium salts. This was a 16-year-old patient with ongoing lithium treatment for two and a half years who presented with a thyrotoxicosis syndrome without a context of iodine overload or an episode of anterior cervical pain that could suggest subacute thyroiditis or orthopathic sign. The assessment of the exploration of this patient reveals biological hyperthyroidism without anti-TSH receptor antibodies, a normal ultrasound, and white scintigraphy which makes it possible to evoke the diagnosis of subacute thyroiditis (absence of the context of iodine overload). Note the interest in a thyroid assessment before and during treatment with lithium salts. Moreover, scintigraphy occupies a place of choice in the exploration of hyperthyroidism, particularly in the context of normal thyroid ultrasound imaging.

Our objectives were to determine the frequency of breast cancer in young women, to determine the risk factors for breast cancer in young women, to detail the diagnostic process of the disease, to determine the different therapeutic strategies. This was a retrospective and descriptive study going from January 2005 to December 2021, a period of 17 years. The study involved 87 women with an average age of 33.2 years. Patients consulted 66 times or 75.9% for breast mass. The size of the tumor was greater than or equal to 5 cm in 62 patients;it was localized in the supero external quadrant 41 times or 47.1%. Molecular classification revealed the following results: Luminal A 21.4%;receptive (HER2) positive 28.6%, and triple negative 42.9%. Stage II was the most represented with 47.4%. Histology found infiltrating carcinoma of non-specific type in 76 patients. The treatment was mastectomy axillary dissection in 66 patients, quadrantectomy + axillary dissection in 6 cases (6.9%) associated with radiotherapy in 6 patients, chemotherapy was performed in 79 of our patients and hormone therapy in 10 patients. Conclusion: Breast cancer is frequent in our country. Patients generally consult us at a late stage. The possibility of determining certain receptors and carrying out certain non-surgical treatments on site would improve the prognosis.

An Analysis of the Value of Additional Information Provided by Water Quality Measurement Network

European Community policy concerning water is placing increasing demands on the acquisition of information about the quality of aquatic environments. The cost of this information has led to a reflection on the rationalization of monitoring networks and, therefore, on the economic value of information produced by these networks. The aim of this article is to contribute to this reflection. To do so, we used the Bayesian framework to define the value of additional information in relation to the following three parameters: initial assumptions (prior probabilities) on the states of nature, costs linked to a poor decision (error costs) and accuracy of additional information. We then analyzed the impact of these parameters on this value, particularly the combined role of prior probabilities and error costs that increased or decreased the value of information depending on the initial uncertainty level. We then illustrated the results using a case study of a stream in the Bas-Rhin department in France.

Laser-driven ramp compression was used to investigate iron characteristics along the isentropic path. The iterative Lagrangian analysis method was employed to analyze the free surface velocity profiles in iron stepped target measured with two VISARs. The onset stress for the α to ε phase transformation was determined from the sudden change in the sound velocity and was found over-pressurized compared to the static and shock results. The derived stress（26 GPa） and strain rate（up to 10-8 s^-1） are consistent with our previous experimental results. The stress-density relations were compared with those from previous ramp experiments and good agreements were found, which experimentally confirms the simulations,showing that iterative Lagrangian analysis can be applied to the ramp-compression data with weak shock.

Assessment of the Microbiological Quality of Drinking Water in Light of Water Quality in the Pelengana Commune of Segou Region

This study focused to determine the bacteriological quality of different commonly used water sources, including boreholes, hand pumps, surface water, household containers, dug well and cement reservoirs in Pelengana commune, in mali with special reference to the internally displaced people camps. Four hundred and eight water samples were collected from different sites and sources, from July 2016 to June 2017. Water samples were examined for total coliform, fecal coliform and fecal enterococci counts using the most probable number method. Also, samples were investigated for the presence of enteric bacteria isolated, namely Escherichia coli, Enterococcus fecalis, Bacillus, Citrobacter and Enterobacter. Results revealed that the three indicators bacteria (Total Coliform (48.7%), Fecal Coliform (100%), and Fecal enterococci (37.01%)) were found above permissible limit for drinking water. The highest number of the indicators bacteria found was 1800 TC/100ml water. Enteric bacteria isolated were Escherichia coli (25.7%), Enterococcus fecalis (21.91%), Bacillus (16.72%), Enterobacter (4.56%) and Citrobacter (3.91%). The most contaminated water source was surface water (15.28%) followed by household containers (13.65%), boreholes (8.75%), cement reservoirs (7.47%), hand pumps (5.31%) and dug wells (2.7%). These findings illustrate that contamination varied with seasons, and the highest level was observed in rainy season (30.02%) compared to the dry season (23.14%). All sources of water in the study sites were contaminated. It is suggested that the outright prevention of surface water consumption should be employed and monitoring of the quality of water resources is needed.

做卫星是通用的遗传标记，它在遗传多样性的研究中有着广泛的运用。因为DNA复制过程中聚合酶会产生滑动，所以做卫星标记会有高度的多态性。至今为止的研究表明，做卫星在很多种类中部大量存在，据估计，它们在鱼类DNA中每10kh就会出现一次。本研究打算探索塞内加尔罗非鱼的两个群体间和群体内的遗传多态性(塞内加尔河和吉耶尔湖)。为了跟两个塞内加尔野生种群进行遗传多样性对比，两个中国养殖种群(宁波和吉富)也包含在研究范围内。运用了8个做卫星标记分别对塞内加尔河，吉耶尔湖，宁波和GIFT的罗非鱼群体进行遗传多态性的研究。结果表明，吉耶尔湖群体的观测杂合度Ho值为O 875，接着是塞内加尔河群体的Ho值为O 873，吉富群体的H。值为O 808，宁波的群体的H。值为O 750。所有位点部显著的偏离了哈迪温伯格平衡。吉耶尔湖群体的平均PIc值比较高(O 712)，接下来是吉富群体(O 689)，塞内加尔河群体(O 617)和宁波群体(O 588)。吉耶尔湖群体的多态性比塞内加尔河的群体更高。遗传距离分析结果表明，塞内加尔河和吉耶尔湖群体的遗传距离是最近的，而塞内加尔河和GIFT群体的遗传距离是最远的。分子生物学方差分析表明17％的变异产生于塞内加尔的群体的种间变异而83％的变异产生于种内变异。在uPGma系统树图中，塞内加尔河群体和吉耶尔湖群体构成一个组，同时，宁波和吉富群体构成了另外一个组。塞内加尔河群体和吉耶尔湖群体的基因流水平仍然是很低的(Nm=2 219)。本研究为塞内加尔尼罗河罗非鱼种群的遗传学背景的研究起了开头的作用。这些结果同样可以在渔业管理和塞内加尔未来的分子标记辅助育种项目中被利用起来。
