Prostate cancer is the second most prevalent cancer in ***-assisted radical prostatectomy(RARP)has altered the landscape of prostate cancer *** the excellent oncological outcomes associated with RARP,the rate of erectile dysfunction(ED)remains *** repair of disrupted cavernous nerves with interpositional nerve grafts has been described;however,the outcomes have been *** hypothesize that this is attributed to Schwann cell atrophy and axonal regeneration limitations caused by long nerve *** proposed the use of nerve transfer to support axonal regrowth via an inter-positional graft with additional donor axons.A cadaveric study was performed to evaluate the anatomical feasibility of a vastus lateralis nerve(VLN)transfer to the distal recipient cavernous nerve *** VLN is long with multiple branching patterns that allow tension-free coaptation of the cavernous *** postulate that a dual innervation method using VLN nerve transfer together with interpositional nerve graft repair of the transacted cavernous nerves may improve the outcomes of ED post-RARP.

The effect of adjunct caudal block on postoperative analgesia in robot-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy: A prospective randomized controlled, single blinded pilot study in a tertiary centre

Objective:Caudal block provides satisfactory postoperative pain relief in lower abdominal *** pilot study explores its safety and effect on postoperative pain control in patients who underwent robot-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy(RARP).Methods:From 2013 to 2014,40 consecutive patients were randomized into two groups d one received caudal block using ropivacaine immediately after operation,the other received standard *** outcome measure was pain score based on 11-point Likert scale(0e10)recorded at recovery room,and at 6,12,24,48,and 72 h after *** analgesic requirements,opioid-related adverse events and time to passage of flatus were ***:Mean age of the two groups was similar(60.4 vs.62.3 years,p Z 0.33),as was American Society of Anaesthesiologists(ASA)class,body mass index(BMI)and operation *** significant difference in median pain scores was reported in recovery room(2 vs.3,p Z 0.34),and at 6 h(2 vs.2,p Z 0.94),12 h(0 vs.0,p Z 0.62),24 h(1 vs.0,p Z 0.58),48 h(1 vs.0,p Z 0.36)and 72 h(0 vs.0,p Z 0.78)postoperatively between control and caudal block groups,*** was a higher mean opioid usage in the caudal block group which was not statistically *** this was statistically insignificant while no significant difference in mean paracetamol usage was observed *** time to passage of flatus was similar(2.0 vs.2.0 days,p Z 0.97).There was one case of superficial wound infection and no opioid-related adverse events *** stay was similar in both groups(2.5 vs.2.5 days,p Z 0.96).

Root-knot nematodes(RKNs;genus Meloidogyne)are a class of plant parasites that infect the roots of many plant *** is believed that RKNs target certain signaling molecules derived from plants to locate their hosts;however,currently,no plant compound has been unambiguously identified as a universal RKN *** address this question,we screened a chemical library of synthetic compounds for Meloidogyne incognita *** breakdown product of aminopropylam ino-anthraquinone,1,3-diam inopropane,as well as its related compounds,putrescine and cadaverine,were found to attract *** exam ining various polyamines,*** were found to be attracted specifically by natural com pounds that possess three to five methylene groups between two terminal amino *** cryo-TO F-sim S/SEM,cadaverine was indeed detected in soybean root cortex cells and the surrounding rhizosphere,establishing a chemical *** addition to cadaverine,putrescine and 1,3-diam inopropane were also detected in root exudate by HPLC-MS/*** ore,exogenously applied cadaverine is sufficient to enhance *** infection of Arabidopsis *** results suggest that *** is likely attracted by polyam ines to locate the appropriate host plants,and the naturally occurring polyamines have potential applications in agriculture in developing protection strategies for crops from RKN infection.
