地下水是乾安县主要的供水水源。随着国民经济的不断发展及人口的增长,水资源的需求日益增加。根据乾安县钻孔资料、其它地质及水文地质资料,系统分析研究了乾安县地质、水文地质条件,明确了研究区含水层分布情况,采用GMS软件建立了乾安县多层含水层结构的地下水数值模型,并利用所建立的模型对研究区地下水位变化进行了预报;全面评价了乾安县地下水资源,分析了地下水开发利用现状,计算了地下水可开采资源和开采潜力,提出了地下水资源的可持续开发利用对策。

雌激素（E1）及其硫酸盐化合物（E1-3S）是能改变生物机体内分泌功能并对机体引起有害效应的内分泌干扰物,主要表现为危害人类的生殖机能、造成发育异常及引发某些癌症等。其大量存在于直接暴露的放牧草场中,主要是动物粪便中。由于雌激素性质不稳定,当被土壤吸附后易被代谢为其他物质,造成了对土壤吸附作用过高的估计,使得难以准确评估其对人体的危害程度。为此,笔者以质量浓度为555mg/L的CaCl2溶液（混合态）以及动物尿液（自由态）2种不同类型溶液作为雌激素载体,研究了尼日利亚纳萨拉瓦州3个不同地区农业土壤介质对不同形态雌激素的吸附规律。结果表明：2类物质的吸附均符合Freundlich非线性等温线过程,土壤对E1-3S的分配系数（2.4～6.4L/kg）比E1（34.2～46.8L/kg）中小一个数量级;3种土壤中,由于有机碳质量分数（分别为Lafia：8.2%;Doma：4%;Azara：5%）、矿物成分以及pH值的不同,致使它们对物质的吸附系数差别较大;雌激素在相同土壤、不同溶液中的吸附系数差别也较大,其在Azara土壤中CaCl2溶液及动物尿液中的分配系数分别为71.7L/kg和39.8L/kg。传统方法中以CaCl2溶液作为载体获得的吸附含量用于评价雌激素污染风险是不合理的,需采用实际载体溶液进行的实验结果才有应用价值。

Introduction: Haematological profile of pregnant women provides vital information on physiological changes in pregnancy progress, outcome and possible maternal-foetal complications. The study assessed the haematological profile of pregnant women attending the antenatal clinic. Methodology: The cross-sectional study was conducted at the antenatal clinic of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital, Bauchi between July and September 2018 among pregnant women attending the antenatal clinic. Study participant was recruited on voluntary basis and study questionnaire and informed consent administered. Blood samples are collected and analysed using System x haematology autoanalyser. Result: A total of 191 study participants comprised of 141 pregnant women at different trimester stages and 50 non-pregnant. Helicobacter pylori infection is a major public health problem globally, with high prevalence in developing countries associated with poor sanitation, low standard of living, urban-rural disparity and increased gastrointestinal pathologies. This preliminary study determined the seroprevalence of H. pylori infection among asymptomatic rural population and association of sociodemographic variables on the result outcome. This study delves into the charge transfer mechanism of boron (B)-doped 3C-SiC through first-principles investigations. We explore the effects of B doping on the electronic properties of 3C-SiC, focusing on a 12.5% impurity concentration. Our comprehensive analysis encompasses structural properties, electronic band structures, and charge density distributions. The optimized lattice constant and band gap energy of 3C-SiC were found to be 4.373 Å and 1.36 eV respectively, which is in agreement with previous research (Bui, 2012;Muchiri et al., 2018). Our results show that B doping narrows the band gap, enhances electrical conductivity, and influences charge transfer interactions. The charge density analysis reveals substantial interactions between B dopants and surrounding carbon atoms. This work not only enhances our understanding of the material’s electronic properties, but also highlights the importance of charge density analysis for characterizing charge transfer mechanisms and their implications in the 3C-SiC semiconductors.

Introduction: Viral hepatitis is a major public health challenge that requires an urgent response. Reducing mortality requires major scale-up in prevention, testing and treatment access;coverage in HBV vaccination, testing and treatment is low and must accelerate massively to achieve the 2030 targets. Less than 1% of HBV-infected individuals are diagnosed in Sub-Sahara Africa, despite the availability of rapid tests with good diagnostic accuracy. Materials and Methods: This was retrospective cross sectional study conducted in Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe, in North East Nigeria. All children and adults who presented to the out-patient departments, and those that were admitted irrespective of their HIV and or Hepatitis C virus status and had Hepatitis B and/or Hepatitis B envelope antigen test were conducted between 2000 to 2015. All children and adults were tested using the Hospital standard for Hepatitis B surface antigen test strip. Results: Between 2000 and 2014, 739,456 children and adults were admitted and reviewed in the outpatient units of the Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe;there were 685,552 adults and 53,904 children. Children constituted 7.3% (53,904/739,456) of admissions and outpatient consultations. 2.8% (210/7570), 3.3% (773/23,783), 3.6% (1145/32,142), 5.2% (1694/33,043), 3.3% (986/29,216), 1.9% (661/3321), 0.1% (53/41,626), 0.2% (113/46,634), 2.6% (1418/54,423), 5.4% (3717/69,696), 3.7% (2332/62,086), 3.5% (3241/90,623), 3.2% (2881/89,398), 3.8% (2428/62,687), 2.8% (1835/63,208) of children and adults were tested for HBsAg in 2000, 2001, 20002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 respectively. 23,487 children and adults were tested for HBsAg with a cumulative testing rate of 3%. Overall 4465/23,487 children and adults were seropositive for HBsAg giving a cumulative prevalence of 19%. Conclusion: HBV screening in our health facility is very low

Effect of microwave treatment on tensile properties of sugar palm fibre reinforced thermoplastic polyurethane composites

The effect of microwave treatment on the tensile properties of treated sugar palm fibre with 6% NaOH reinforced thermoplastic polyurethane composites was investigated. Firstly, the sugar palm fibres were treated by 6% alkali solution. Then, microwave treatment was used to treat the alkali treated sugar palm fibres. Three types of temperatures(i.e. 70, 80 and 90℃) were applied in microwave treatment. The extruder and hot press machines were used to mixing the sugar palm fibres and polyurethane resin, and fabricate the composites. Tensile properties(i.e. tensile strength, tensile modulus and elongation at break) were studied by following the ASTM D-638 standard. The highest tensile strength was recorded 18.42 MPa with microwave temperature at 70℃ and 6% alkali pre-treatment. Therefore, the temperature 70℃ of microwave treatment may consider the best degree cent grate.

In this work, Eucalyptus Capsule Fibers （ECF） are proposed as a new natural fiber reinforcement to produce bio-composites due to their biological origin, specific smell and color. High Density Polyethylene （HDPE） is used as the matrix to compare three reinforcement types, raw ECF, alkali treated ECF, and ECF treated with PE-graft-maleic anhydride （PE-g-MA） as a coupling agent at three concentrations （5 wt.%, 10 wt%, and 15 wt%）. A complete set of characterization is performed including tension, torsion, hardness, Melt Flow Index （MFI）, Attenuated Total Reflection Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy （ATR-FTIR）, Contact Angle （CA）, Scanning Electron Microscopy （SEM）, Thermogravimetric Analysis （TGA） and Dynamic Mechanical Analysis （DMA）. The results show that the best mechanical and rheological improvements are obtained by using the coupling agent with alkali treated fibers.

为了准确模拟发生碱-硅酸反应(ASR)的混凝土结构的复杂受力行为,在最新一代微平面理论的基础上,提出适于分析ASR作用下混凝土力学行为的微平面模型.修改了微平面应力边界和法向模量表达式,引入应力效应函数来模拟应力对ASR膨胀应变的影响.开发相应的动力显式算法,完成了该算法在有限元程序ABAQUS中的集成.对ASR作用下的混凝土试件力学性能和变形试验进行模拟可知,计算值与试验值吻合良好,验证了该模型的有效性.
