Four polyoxometalate complexes, (CPFX·hCl)_3h_4SiW_~12 O_~40 , (CPFX·hCl)_3h_3PW_~12 O_~40 , (CPFX·hCl)_3h_3PMo_~12 O_~40 and (CPFX·hCl)_4h_4SiMo_~12 O_~40 , were prepared from ciprofloxacin hydrochloride(CPFX·hCl) reacting with h_nXM_~12 O_~40 ·nh_2O(X=P,Si; M=W,Mo) in an aqueous solution, and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectrometry and TG-DTA. The IR spectrum confirms the presence of Keggin-type anions of heteropoly acids and the characteristic functional groups of ciprofloxacin. The TG/DTA curves show that their thermal decomposition is a multi-step process including simultaneous collapse of the Keggin-type structure. At first, these compounds had a mass loss of water molecules, then several other mass losses occured due to the decomposition of ciprofloxacin hydrochloride and its fragments with the degradation of Keggin anions. The end product of decomposition is the mixture of WO_3(or MoO_3) and SiO_2(or P_2O_5), identified by X-ray diffraction and IR spectroscopy. The possible thermal decomposition mechanisms of these complexes are proposed. This study exemplified that the thermal stability of the complexes containing tungsten is much better than that of the complexes containing molybdenum.

Recently a new molecule, cyanomethamine, has been detected towards Sagittarius B2（N）（Sgr B2（N））. Studying the formation mechanisms of complex interstellar molecules is difficult. hence, a theoretical quantum chemical approach for analyzing the reaction mechanism describing the forma- tion of interstellar cyanomethamine through detected interstellar molecules and radicals （NCCN＋h） is discussed in the present work. Calculations are performed by using quantum chemical techniques, such as Density Functional Theory （DFT） and Mφ11er-Plesset perturbation （MP2） theory with a 6-311G（d,p） basis set, both in the gas phase and in icy grains. The proposed reaction path （NCCN＋h＋h） has exother- micity with no barrier which indicates the possibility of cyanomethamine formation in the interstellar medium.

The three isomers of C2h4O2,viz.,glycolaldehyde(hCOCh2 Oh),acetic acid(Ch3 COOh)and methyl formate(hCOOCh3),have been detected in copious amounts in the interstellar medium(ISM).The possibility for formation of these molecules through interstellar formaldehyde(hChO)has been explored by using the quantum chemical approach described by density functional theory(DFT)and second order Moller-Plesset perturbation(MP2)theory with a 6–311 G(d,p)basis set in the gas phase as well as in icy *** associated molecule-molecule interactions have been discussed to study the formation of isomers of C2h4O2 in *** reactions of two formaldehyde molecules exhibit a considerable potential barrier but due to quantum tunneling,these reactions could be possible in *** chemical pathway is exothermic,which gives rise to a high probability for the formation of all three isomers,***,methyl formate and acetic acid,in interstellar *** rotational vibration,centrifugal distortion constants and coupling constants are also calculated and results suggest that the vibrations are harmonic in nature.

Using the small-slope approximation model of microwave emission of rough sea surface, the impacts of sea surface wind on brightness tem- perature variations generated by the surface rough- ness, i.e. ?Th,v, are investigated. here ?T denotes the brightness temperature variation, and “h” and “v” denote the horizontal and vertical polarizations re- spectively. ?Th,v has a linear relation with wind speed, sea surface temperature (SST) and sea surface sa- linity (SSS) respectively. Further more, the impact of wind direction on SSS retrieval, under small inci- dence angles, can be removed by calculating (?Th+?Tv). These characteristics provide simple new ways to develop an SSS retrieval algorithm without wind direction factor.

Glycine （C2h5NO2） was the first amino acid to be detected in space by the stardust space probe in Comet Wild2, and is used by living organisms to make proteins. We discuss three different reaction paths for the formation of glycine in interstellar space from some simpler molecules detected in the interstellar medium. The possibility of the formation of glycine in interstellar space is considered by radicalradical and radical-molecule interaction schemes using quantum chemical calculations with density functional theory at the B3LYP/6-31G （d,p） level. In the chemical pathways we discuss, a few reactions are found to be totally exothermic and barrierless while others are endothermic with a very small reaction barrier, thus giving rise to a high probability of forming glycine in interstellar space.

AIM:The effects of cobalt,copper,cadmium and barium ions on the cysts of Entamoeba histolyt/ca (E,histolytica), an amebic dysentery agent,cultured in Robinson medium were investigated. METhODS:*** cysts and trophozoites isolated from a patient with amebiasis were cultivated in the medium, incubated at 37℃ for a period of 4 days and 40×10~4/ml amebic cysts were then transferred to a fresh *** the second stage,0.05,0.1 and 0.2 mM of selected metal ions were added to the medium,and the effects of these ions on parasitic reproduction compared with the control group were observed. RESULTS:It was determined that the number of living parasites in all the groups containing metal ions decreased significantly starting from 30 minutes (Phowed the highest lethal effect on *** cysts,whereas the lowest lethal effect was observed with CoCl_*** was also seen that the number of living cells was decreased as the ion concentration and exposure time were increased,and that there were no living parasites in the medium at the end of 24 h (Phat the effect of ever- increasing contamination of the environment with metal waste materials on parasites should be investigated further.

Biochars produced from coconut palm biomass residues can aid regenerative agriculture by improving soil properties and plant yield in humid tropics

Lignin-rich recalcitrant biomass residues of coconut palms viz.(i)mature coconut husk,(ii)tender(immature or green)coconut husk(iii)coconut leaf petiole and(iv)coir-pith were successfully pyrolysed using a simple charring kiln into carbon-rich,black,light weight and porous *** alkalinity and good ash content made them fit for remediating acid *** potassium content in these biochars could help reduce the use of inorganic *** analysis showed the mass loss phases of husk and coconut leaf petiole biochars to be ***,all four biochars gave smooth curves indicating thermal stability of the *** seed germination and earthworm avoidance tests proved their potential as soil *** incubation studies with coconut biochars in graded doses,alone or in combination with coconut leaf vermicompost,increased the ph,organic carbon and potassium contents,and promoted plant-beneficial microbiota and enzyme *** studies with tender coconut husk biochar and coconut leaf vermicompost enhanced the dry weight of cowpea plants accompanied with increased arbuscular mycorrhizal sporulation and root colonization,and root nodule dry weight.A field trial resulted in higher chilli yields with tender coconut husk biochar+coconut leaf vermicompost *** results from our studies highlight the potential of pyrolysis as an innovative technology for quick recycling of highly recalcitrant coconut palm biomass residues to biochars as a local source of soil amendment to aid regenerative agriculture in humid tropics.
