Functional and structural characterization of Ebola virus glycoprotein （1976-2015） -- An in silico study

Ebola virus （EBOV） is the causative agent of a severe hemorrhagic fever disease associ- ated with high mortality rates in humans. This virus has five strains of which Zaire Ebola virus （ZEBOV） is the first and most important strain. It can be transmitted through contact with contaminated surfaces and objects. The genome of EBOV codes one non- structural and seven structural proteins consisting of two forms of glycoprotein （GP）： soluble glycoprotein （sGP） and GP （spike）. In this paper, we attempted to characterize and predict physicochemical properties, B-cell epitopes, mutation sites, phosphorylation sites, glycosylation sites, and different protein structures of EBOV GP to provide com- prehensive data about changes of this GP during a 40-years course （1976-2015）. GP sequences were obtained from NCBI gene bank from 1976-2015. Expasy＇sProtParam, PROTSCALE, immuneepitope, Bepipred, BcePred, ABCpred, VaxiJen, DISPHOS, Net- Phos, and numerous programs were used to predict and analyze all sequences. More variety of mutations were found in 2015 sequences and mutations were related to huge changes in B-cell epitopes, phosphorylation and glycosylation sites. In addition, our results determined different sites of disulfide bonds and an important mutation related to IgE epitope as well as four potent B-cell epitopes （380-387, 318-338, 405-438 and 434-475）. In this study, we suggested the effect of mutations on GP properties, six posi- tions for disulfide bonds and four phosphorylation sites for protein kinase C enzyme. Selected sequences were shown different sites for O-link and N-link glycosyl^tion. A mutation that changed GP to an allergen protein and has a significant role in vaccine designing as well as four potent B-cell epitopes in GP protein were found.

High Resolution and Wide Dynamic Range Pressure Sensor Based on Two-Dimensional Photonic Crystal

The authors present a new design of high resolution and wide dynamic range photonic crystal pressure sensor. This sensor is based on two-dimensional photonic crystal with square array of silicon rods surrounded by air. The sensor consists of a photonic crystal waveguide which is coupled to a photonic crystal nanocavity. The waveguide is configured by removing one row of Si rods and nanocavity is formed by modifying the radius of one Si rod. The sensor is designed for 1300 nm-1400 nm wavelengths. Simulation results show that resonant wavelength of nanocavity is linearly shifted to larger wavelengths by increasing the pressure. The designed sensor has a linear behavior between 0.1 GPa to 10 GPa of applied pressure and 8 nrrdGPa of pressure sensitivity.

Faunal data and envenomation emergency first aid of cone snails (Conus spp.) in Qeshm Island, the Persian Gulf

Objective: To investigate the fauna of a highly venomous marine species group, the cone snails(Family Conidae), in the shores of Qeshm Island, of evaluating the possibility of envenomation in the area and summarize recommendations for emergency first ***: Shores surrounding Qeshm Island were surveyed to collect cone snails during cold(February and March) and warm(May and June) seasons of 2017. Collected snails were identified to the species level. Abundance and species richness were estimated in shores of different structures, including muddy and sandy-rocky shores. Also, the most updated medical literature was reviewed to summarize related emergency first ***: Three cone snail species were recorded from southern sandy-rocky shores of the Island, in decreasing order of abundance, included crowned cone(Conus coronatus)(65%), feathered cone(Conus pennaceus)(28%), and frigid cone(Conus frigidus)(7%).Abundance of these species were significantly higher in cold season compared to the warm season(P < 0.05). No cone snails were recorded along the northern muddy shores of the ***: Envenomation can cause various symptoms ranging from minor local pain to systemic paralysis and death due to respiratory failure. We recommend an awareness programme for the seashore visiting public.

Aluminum chloride （AlCl3） efficiently catalyzes one-pot multicomponent condensation of enolizable ketones or alkyl acetoacetates with aldehydes, acetonitrile and acetyl chloride to afford β-acetamido ketone or ester derivatives in high to excellent yields and in relatively short reaction times. Moreover, by this synthetic method, some novel β-acetamido ketones and esters （i.e. one complex structure） are prepared.

Optimization of Recloser Placement to Improve Reliability by Genetic Algorithm

In this paper, a simple method for placing an optimal number of recloser is presented. The algorithm is solved using genetic algorithm as the optimization method. The majority of outage events experienced by customers are due to electrical distribution failures. Increasing network reliability is a necessity in order to reduce interruption events. Distribution network automation can trim down outage events and increase system reliability. Network automation has to be done using optimization approaches. Genetic Algorithm (GA) is a relatively new technique used in power systems optimization problems. Distribution network automation is one of the aspects tackled using GA. However ,the methodologies used to improve the reliability of radial distribution feeders are reviewed. The reliability improvement are demonstrated for typical distribution feeder layouts. determined. In this paper, fatigue life circular cross-section elastic bar under pure fatigue axial loading is studied through principles of linear elastic fracture mechanics (LEFM) coupled with the three-dimensional finite element technique for determination of critical crack size and residual lifetime. Three different initial notch depths are discussed. The relations between aspect ratio (b/c) and relative crack depth (b/D) are obtained, and it is shown that there is great difference in the growth of cracks with different front shapes and initial notch depths.

Spatio-Temporal Patterns of Wildlife Road Mortality in Golestan National Park-North East of Iran

Nowadays, wildlife road mortality is acknowledged as a main source of threatening long-term survival of wildlife. This paper as the first to analysis wild life vehicle collisions in Iran, aims to reconstruct and interpret the spatio-temporal patterns of WVCs on Asiaei highway in Golestan National Park (GNP). With the collaboration of environmental protection department of GNP, we identified about 1900 WVC Records involving 34 different species of mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians between 2004 and 2013. Mammals were involved in more than 50% of overall WVCs, among which wild boar (Sus scrofa), Golden Jackal (Canis aureus), Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes), hedgehog (Erinaceus concolor), stone marten (Martes foina) and porcupine (Hystrix indica) were involved in more than 90% of mammals’ mortalities;So, we focused on analyzing spatio-temporal pattern of vehicle collisions of these six mammal species. During the study period, these species have undergone 95% increase in road mortalities, averagely. Detailed temporal analyses exhibited an increasing trend of road mortalities from spring to summer and then a reducing one to late winter. It was shown that a large number of collisions occurred in holiday periods when recreational trips considerably increased the traffic volume of Asiaei highway. Preliminary inspection of spatial patterns using Kernel density analysis revealed six collision hotspots, mostly located in the road bends with densely forested land cover on both sides;the promenades along the road seemed to play a significant role too. Scale dependency analyses of collision patterns, demonstrated clustering pattern at micro scales less than 10 km, randomness at meso scales 10 - 20 km and both regularity and clustering at macro scales more than 20 km. This paper suggests that road mortality of common species in GNP is a momentous issue, which needs to be considered by relevant governmental and public organizations.
